You can buy a decent army truck online for £20K to use as a base vehicle. Then spend the same again on a newish 2 / 3 berth caravan and strap it to the back and HEY PRESTO, instant overland truck. One of these vehicles on this vid was exactly what I just described, only they are charging $150K for it.

What's the labour cost? I saw a build where the guy spent $9k for the truck/van, $25k for the 4x4 conversion, then $60k for the cab so $94k for the lot.

I would start building one with a Kamaz, 4x4 (4350, €37k), 6x6 (5350, €40k) or 8x8 (6560, €110k) depending on the needs. If the sport variant is good enough to win the Dakar 18 times a stock should be more than enough as a basis of a expedition vehicle.

The hunter rmv isn't a good value because it's a $25k truck with a $18k travel trailer bolted to it. They disguise it with the shroud between the cab and camper section. The other vehicles on the list are much better options
