Shooting everything on a gimbal or vice versa, shooting everything handheld. Don’t feel like you have to pick one single way of filming. They’re all just tools so use whatever tool the situation calls for.

Great video and breakdown. We definitely think a lot in many different ways. I did a wedding video in auto then did another one and pushed myself to do manual settings. That ALONE made my video more cinematic 🔥

Hey Jaired, I’ve been following your channel for a while now, and I just wanted to say that your content has really leveled up recently. I really appreciate all the valuable advice you’re sharing with the community, it’s made a huge impact for me personally. Thanks for everything you do!

Out sourcing the editing has been revolutionary for my wedding business. I can shoot more weddings, focus on marketing, onboarding, customer experience and delivery and let the grunt work be done by a team who are honestly, better than me at it. I get the project file and tweak it so it makes a little more sense sometimes but otherwise they do what I would do anyway and often with a fresh perspective. They do 70% of the work for 20% of the revenue. If you're scaling or growing it's a no brainer. It's made this side of my media business SUSTAINABLE. Highly recommend.

Hey Wayward- I am filming my 3rd wedding next weekend. Your channel has been a big help! Do you think I can get away with filming on a 70-200 f4? My last 2 I filmed with my Tamron 28-70 but I was thinking about experimenting with this one. (Shooting solo) Cheers
@WaywardNorthАй бұрын
@@Maselive you can definitely get by but F4 could be tricky in low light so it just depends on the venue but I’ve a 70-200 all day before. Having some wider perspective will be useful though especially for showcasing the scene, location, etc

Reception lighting is probably my biggest struggle and I definitely lean on the 'it's a Sony I can just crank the ISO' crutch a lot. I tend to only setup lighting when absolutely necessary. Sometimes when I throw a light up though it seems like it kills the vibe for the guests and they don't want to be on the dance floor as much, even if I reduced the brightness. But that definitely varies from wedding to wedding. On the edit side it's not a bad idea to offer couples longer docustyle edits (as a add on to their package, don't work for free!) Because they themselves would like to see more of their day, but the highlight edits work better for sharing with friends and family as well as posting online.
@WaywardNorthАй бұрын
@@aefilmsweddings Love this! Totally, I think doc edits are beautiful products to provide for couples. I’ve been guilty of over doing with the highlight films and drawing it out for the sake of time and the story aspect would fall flat.

No more emo kid hair? Haha nice cut! Great advice! I definitely identify with the 2nd tip. Sony originally gave me so much more confidence with their amazing low light and unfortunately I’ve allowed it to stump my growth in terms of lighting and offering beautiful lighting during the reception portion of my films.
@WaywardNorthАй бұрын
Haha no more emo hair for me. It got pretty wild there for a second. But this is so real, I totally did the same. Its a great tool to have for those spur the moments but the more we can control the better our product can be.

There are no absolute recommendations because each event is unique and every videographer is different. Any recommendation should always be taken with caution since not everything works for everyone or works all the time.

Brother, you are the best filmmaker in my opinion! I was wondering if you would be interested in filming a project with me. I wrote a faith based interracial romance 1950s period peace feature film, which I’ve adapted into a short/trailer. I’m also finishing the manuscript for the book (establishing fanbase for marketing and distribution). The idea is to submit the film to festivals as well as publishing companies (help get the book out there). This will ensure that this story will be told and sold. Yes, I could find other filmmakers but you have the eye, the spirit, and the right intention for this vision of mine. You’re excellent at what you do and I believe us working together can bring glory to the Lord Jesus, while building our passion, and serving others in an exciting way. I would love to discuss it and share some writing samples with you.
