I watched your "How to get your puppy to sleep through the night" episode before I got my puppy. I did the things you taught and my puppy only whimpered a little bit the first night . I've had him 2 weeks and he sleeps 8-9 hours straight. I kept him right next to my bed, in his crate at my level the first week and now he is about 4 feet away. THANK YOU for the wisdom and guidance.

Thank you so much for giving us the grace to let go of high expectations--including maybe for ourselves? I had this hilarious conversation with myself yesterday: Me #1: "OMG what am I doing wrong? She doesn't have name recognition yet!" Me #2: "Relax. It's day THREE and she's only 8 weeks and three days old!" LOL

I'm on Day 4 of owning a puppy, and I've been STRESSED out especially with my first day back at work with her yesterday. Working fulltime is hard, and I can't imagine working in office. Your videos have been so helpful!! I'm excited to try out those games with her. I think I've been putting way too many expectations on myself. My little golden's started to be a lot more interactive, and I felt like I was doing something wrong; but I think she's just more comfortable (yay!) and I need to encourage more naps after shorter play periods. I think I've still been overplaying her even after knowing puppies are like toddlers who "aren't tired." 😆

@@DogsThat yes! I am binge watching them! I am in Berlin Germany - does it make sense to go to dog school if I watch all of her videos and want to train my dog like she does? Is watching all of her videos instead of going ok?

This advice would work if everyone in the household were on board. My husband balks at any suggestion of training. If it is logical he seems to do. The opposite. Frustrating to say the least!

Thank you for all the advices Susan. I have watched quite a few of your videos. I like your enthusiasm and the way you deliver your message. I’m getting a puppy in 2 weeks time and I wondered if you have done a video on raw diet or not. My puppy is currently being fed on that by the breeder and although I would like to carry on, it’s not as simple as kibbles and it’s also more expensive. However, I want to feed my puppy a healthy diet and I’m not convinced kibbles are meeting the dogs health requirements. I was thinking about buying human mince meat but I think there should be some offals and bones added. Here in the UK supermarkets it’s not as easy to find offals (other than kidneys and liver) and bones is impossible unless you go to a butcher, I guess. What would be your suggestions ?

Small question. I live above my inlaws chinese restaurant where there's a dine-in area and a pick-up area. The restaurant is quite cozy and usually there are only 0 - 2 customers at any given moment. Customers come and go. Would it be possible to set up one of the playpens inside the restaurant in a calm corner and spend some time there a few times a week? We have the space there for a playpen with a crate and our dogs are allowed in the restaurant (just not the kitchen). I wonder if spending a few hours there doing sleeping, crate games, some training with his meals, some alone time with enrichment etc. would be suitable for a puppy. He'll be able to hear the restaurant sounds, people talking, will see all kinds of people come and go. I will probably put something that sais "Do not pet", but I'll also make a natural barrier with some chairs and tables so the puppy can see them, but they can't see the puppy. I wonder if this is a good idea or a bad idea (maybe it's too much!)

Hi @theamziss love the way you are thinking this through! Below are two videos to help, one has games for puppies, and while the episode is about fear periods, they games are great for all pups and dogs. The second is about dining out with your puppy or dog, and what a great space you have for that to practice! Speaking of shopping … Any recommendations for where to buy a perch or target for perch work, pivots, etc.? I live in a small town and I’m not seeing anything local to me that would have perches/targets that look like the ones you use. Even just a brand name would be helpful. Thanks!
@casdragon_59392 жыл бұрын
I think she made hers; I just use a book (when they were small) and now balance pads/balls that I got off amazon. There's nothing local for me either, but I've found that a lot of human exercise equipment works well for dogs (and is cheaper).

Hi! Speaking of floor covering - we are getting a new home and I want something dog friendly. Just can't decide what - every surface is in the end slippery. Laminate can't handle much water, vinyl is durable, but slippery, don't want tiles ... 😅 Do you have an experience what is more or less ok, or if rougher the surface the better?

Sassy must have gotten this bad habit in her first 6 months before I got her. I need feedback on how to stop her from pooping in her bed at night. I’ve tried feeding her earlier, taking her out before bedtime, putting a soft mattress in her bed, and just putting a pee pad in her bed. I just don’t understand why she continues to do this. During the day she either goes outside or uses a peeped in the laundry room.

Challenge: I have a dilemma. My 10-year-old, 4-pound Russian Toy girl has used pee pads all her life. She came to me from Russia at 10-months old solidly paper trained. Her pee spot is in a corner of the little-used dining room. In a few weeks I am getting an Old-Time Scotch Collie puppy. I intend to train this puppy to pee/poop outside. How in the heck am I going to pull this off?? Any and all suggestions encouraged.

@@DogsThat my puppy is 4 months old. I'm having a horrible time potty training her. She hates being outside. Yesterday from 12:30 pm to 7:45 pm I walked her outside for 10 minutes, back to the crate for 10 minutes then back out. She held potty the hold time! This morning she did poop outside but would not pee. I've been back and forth all morning. Finally I had to take care of my son. I had no eyes on her for a few minutes and she went pee on the floor. She had parvo and had to be hospitalized for 3 days and nights. We let her go on puppy pads because she was so sick. Now she's a stubborn goat! 🤣 I'm glad I found this channel. She is my first dog and I have no clue what I'm doing.
