NASCAR has had and certainly has today a ton of rules for fans to sift through. Today we are going to look at 10 of these rules that at one time or another we’re very controversial for fans and see if they should or should not be in NASCAR anymore. Some seem obvious for fans to want to keep or get rid of now but others may still be borderline due to the changing of time. So without drawing this out further here are 10 controversial NASCAR rules and if they should stay.

Let’s be honest the yellow line has caused more crashes then it’s stopped

Stages should be kept but with no yellows. Not only would you be able to keep stage points, which some have grown to love, but it would allow for more in-race strategy.

At stage yellows, I actually said out loud "get 'em out of here." Not having them may not make for the most interesting races, but if the races aren't interesting, the guaranteed yellows are NOT the solution.

The playoffs have ruined the entire point of racing the entire season to win the cup. The fact someone who’s dead last in the points can win there way into the playoffs is bogus. Nobody 16th besy at week 26 should suddenly be capable to win the big Apple. It just doesn’t work.

I love how Corey Heim fell ill, missed a race, got a waiver and still won the regular season title in Trucks regardless 🤣🤣 kid has big potential.

The lucky dog rule wasnt about freezing the field. It was put into place when they decided to change the restart rules and not have lap down cars restart on the inside. It's to still give the lap down guy the chance he would have had if he restarted in the front of the field.

Another recent rule change you didn't mention - The choose rule! I actually like that change. One tweak I would do is, on big ovals, put the choose box on the backstretch, like they do on road courses. Cut down the number of pace laps.

I know a lot of people don't mind it, but i want the overtime rule gone. That number means something, it's the daytona 500, not 510 or 515. The race ends under yellow? Too bad.

The Chase, With The Original 2004-2006 10 Driver/2004-2013 10 Chase Race Format, With Chase Points, Needs To Stay, And Should Never Ever Be Changed Again, Put Richmond Raceway Back On It's 9-11 Date, Put Bristol Motor Speedway Back On It's Original August Date.

Dale Jarrett's crash at New Hampshire in 2003 is what brought the lucky dog rule.

Change the point system to something between what we have now and the Winston Cup style system.

Get rid of stages all together, get rid of the double yellow line rule at SS, and get rid of the playoffs.

Hot take: the points system would be great if four things happened. 1. Win and your in is gone. 2. Chase gets cut down from 16 to 12. 3. Get rid of stage cautions. 4. Getting rid of the points reset in the playoffs. I feel like the elimination format would be no different then having a chase because drivers would be eliminated anyways after a couple of races and it would give the bottom drivers urgency to race well.

I hate the dvp rule. If you can repair your car and get it back on the track you should be able to compete. Even if it is for 35 position, maybe even better depending on DNF’s of other drivers.

I remember when they started double file restarts. I remember how simple of an idea it was but to me it felt like a brand new sport. Blew my mind the first couple of races. I hate when Nascar suspends a driver and then grants them a playoff waiver. I also hate that it all comes down to 1 race. I feel like if they are going to do things the way they are doing it now it should come down to the final 3 races and whoever has the most points out of the final 4 should win.
