I remember the early rumors about how Darth Vader got the mask. It basically said that he and Obi-Wan fought on a volcanic planet and that he was severely injured. That was many years before Ep.3 but Lucas apparently had it always in mind as a Vader origin.

I seem to remember reading this in one of the first Marvel Star Wars comic issues. It was actually mentioned by a rival of Vaders in the comic book.

I remember reading it in the novelization for Shadows of the Empire in the 90s.

I distinctly remember Vader unmasked being a topic of discussion by us kids at school. I can’t remember if we were speculating before the movie premiered or if kids saw it on opening night were describing what they saw to the rest of us

My favorite current rumor is that Kathleen Kennedy is retiring and someone else will be running the Star Wars franchise.

Russ Manning newspaper strip had Luke meeting Boba Fett(1980) Luke comments to his antagonist "What kind of a Stormtrooper outfit is that?' more or less. Scholastic magazine's Dynamite magazine had a Star Wars article (1978) about two possible Star Wars movies One concept Darth Vader falling into a lava pit curtsey of Kenobi The other a story on the planet of Wookies......................Time Travel is /was KINDA done in Rebels with the Jedi Temples how Asoka Tano survives

Those are some funny rumors about The Empire Strikes Back. It's weird that I haven't heard most of them. I did hear that Han was going to be killed off.

Actually... I'd read the script in my office in L.A. and had spent about 4 weeks at Elstree Studios while we were filming. So I knew exactly what was going to be in The Empire Strikes Back before I wrote the "rumors" article. You can read more about the article that Starlog ran in my book, "Star Wars Memories", about my time working on Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back.

Interesting that there were "official" rumors floating around re: Vader being Luke's father, via Miller. Yet it was that speculation that caused the rift between George Lucas and Dave Prowse. Prowse did an interview in which he speculated about that twist (without actually knowing) and GL blackballed him for it, replacing him in the unmasking scene in "Jedi" with Sebastian Shaw.

Finn had the Force, he wanted to tell Rey in episode IX was that he was force sensitive, but he never did in the movie. And Mace his Father!

Craig Miller was part of the 'inner circle' and knew exactly what happened in the film. He actually wrote every word of the 'rumours' article, although it was credited to a Starlog editor. Lucas, looking at the original article, wanted Miller to add MORE rumours. So this became a sidebar to the article, with Starlog 'interviewing' Miller about some of the other rumours they had 'heard'. Again, this is all Miller putting this together. Talk about controlling the narrative! And getting people to discuss a film months before release, without really giving anything away...

My favorite rumor: That in a future TV show, Boba Fett will battle a one-armed and crazed Mace Windu to prevent a neo-Jedi cult from taking over Tattoine - during which we learn that Fett’s gaffi stick can, indeed, withstand a lightsaber blade.

Time travel. That's all we needed, for Star Wars and Star Trek to get caught up in a battle of the timelines.

I heard a rumor (and we hope is true) that during a pivotal scene in the next Star Wars series George Lucas will be hiding behind a small rock awaiting to slice off Kathleen Kennedy's head using the only real world working Lightsaber. I mean..... Kathleen Kennedy is the Sith Lord we've been looking for. 😂🤣

4:16 David Prowse was also aware that Vader was Luke's father, which he revealed during an appearance at an early Star Wars fan meet in Berkeley two years before The Empire Strikes Back was released. I believe this is why George Lucas dislikes the guy and has banned him from participating in Star Wars events.

Your mid video thanks for watching is annoying, i keep bailing on it because it sounds like the end of the video. I don't know whose idea that was.
