I don't know how crazy it is, but I remember rescuing the girl at the end of GTA 3, listening to her complain through the end credits, and then finally hearing a gunshot. No gameplay or anything, just silence after the shot. My teenage self thought that was hilariously brilliant.

Dragon’s Dogma is truly a great experience and the fact that we still haven’t gotten a sequel is one of the video games industries true tragedies.
@johnwrath36122 жыл бұрын
I've tried a couple of times to get into it, but it feels really tedious at first and I usually give up after a few hours. Is it one of those games that doesn't get good until you're 10+ hours in? There are also so many systems that are confusing. I still don't really get how the pawn system works. And those early quests are so dull.
@Divaad952 жыл бұрын
@@johnwrath3612 early quests, do you mean the notice board quests? they're more meant to be done passively as you play not really go out and do intentionally, the escort quests outright suck ass. Dragons Dogma is a helluva complicated game but a few things to note, there aren't really early quests, the "Quests" are more encounters similar to what you'd have in DnD that you deal with as and when. People will come to you and ask you to do things but its usually fairly organic going form one to the next there aren't that many compared to something like skyrim/oblivion and they're all pretty decent. If you want to get into the game, follow the story, explore, loot and grind and gather materials. Its a JRPG first so nowhere near as grindy as say monster hunter but definitely in the same vein. If you've got the Dark Arisen version then a ton will be different from the base game, if you really want to understand it without being familiar with JRPG's make considerable use of the Wiki, oddly its so complicated that it really doesn't take much away from the exploratory nature to look up odd things as you go when you're stuck though I'd stay away from full walkthroughs.
@johnwrath36122 жыл бұрын
@@Divaad95 I’ve played loads of jRPGS but dragons dogma doesn’t feel like any of them. I do have the dark arisen version. Does that change the base game? I thought it was just a late game expansion. I’ll probably give it another go at some point. Seems like the kind of game I’d be into.

The best about dragons dogma is after playing through it a over and over again, because you and your pawn (from your previous playthrough) are the final bosses, also the whole concept of the world DD is somehow crazy cool after you fully understand every aspect of it and there are quite some aspects to the story. Also after defeating the dragon, the whole world is filled with new monsters and dragons, usually much stronger than their usual variant, which during your first playthrough may cause a serious feeling of being underpowered until you learn to use their weaknesses to your advantage. A great game - maybe I'll play it again soon.

@creationsmaxo2 жыл бұрын
@@B3ll3r0ph0nt3s The main issue with DD (for it being underrated) was the fact that it's a game with a really slow build-up and that initial build-up time is kinda its weakest moment. Let be honest, until you actually move into the main quest to the point where you start getting an idea of what is actually going on, the game has a super generic fantasy story with tons of typical non-creative short stories. The game only starts getting its "unique" vibes once the player reach a certain part of the game (not spoiling) where said player's past actions decide what's happening next and, out of those past actions some are actually common typical actions you usually do in other games with no repercussion. It's even more misleading that the game use the same areas multiple times by having the player (or an event) unlock further passage not really visible on the already revealed map which might make any new player think that the initial part (which takes quite a bit of time to fully complete) is all the game is about and, up to that point, they are right to think it's boring because it actually is. The game is a really great game as a whole, but as its introduction is its worse part and the game has a lot of content, it's obvious that if 1 out of 3 people review the game out of their 6 or so first hours, they might not review it in a good way while those who have completed the game more than once gets even more fun out of it.
@B3ll3r0ph0nt3s2 жыл бұрын
@@creationsmaxo Very thoughtful reply, and I agree wholeheartedly. I still thought the combat system was fun to carry you until the story really took off, but as you said, if somebody just played (the weakest) 6 hours in the beginning, they might have a very different opinion.

Gameplay held up fine with interesting abilities and lots of breadth. That final post-credit boss? He's the brother you watched die at the beginning of the game, along with the rest of humanity except for you and two others. Also he's been tortured and experimented on by the aliens that wiped out humans. And they did it so they couldn't be challenged because only humans had the potential for the supernatural abilities you develop from progressing the story. Yeah okay it was a little all over but it was epic

Pokemon Silver and Gold. It blew my tiny child's brain. You go through the Johto region, do the Gym challenge, collect badges and capsuled critters, all to beat the Elite Four and the champ. You've done it, credits roll and boom - go to Kanto, collect 8 more badges and battle the Elite Four again who have become stronger. Credits roll again. You might even have caught all Pokemon, but are you done? Nope, you can challenge Red, the canon protagonist of Pokemon Red and Blue. That was so amazing! Note that I was 10 years old when the game came out. When NPCs mentioned the train and ships that didn't run as they used to it flew fight over my head that you'd be able to use them to fast travel to and from Kanto at some point.

After about two thirds of the game there is an ending, story-wise a very bad ending, where you get a shorter, sad version of the credits and all that stuff and are back in the main menu. Only after you load your last save game, the game actually continues with additional 20ish hours of gameplay and story... according to the Steam achievements at least 5% of the players who got the "wrong" ending didn't even realize they have to load their save game again (it's subtly hinted in the storyline, but yeah, there isn't a clear "in-your-face"-message about it) and actually never really finished the game and totally missed quite a good plot here.

okay, not to be an "um actually" nerd, but in RE7 and 8 we learn that the infected super children suffer from advanced aging. Evie from RE7 went from 12 year old girl to grandma within like 4 years. Rose is a bit more controlled so maybe its been a few years at most.

I hope Sony buys konami. Mgs needs to revive again

The time skip in RE8 can't be that major since the mold accelerates age. Rose can go from a baby to a late teenager in a couple of years. I might be wrong but the same thing happened to Eveline in RE7

Was not expecting wild arms on this list. Wonder when that series will reappear.

Remember ffxvi is developed in cooperation with the dd team so it could feel like a spiritual successor given its also set in a medieval world.

The messed up part about Advent Rising was whoever you chose to save at the beginning died shortly after the other one so it kind of defeated the purpose of saving either one.

That was such a good game

I liked this game too. Did not encounter the bugs as much as others, I think. It is more complicated and combat has a bit more depth than mentioned in the video. At the time, I read that on xbox, there was a bug that you could not beat the after credit boss, an IGN walkthrough or something, so I gave up and returned the game to blockbuster, lol. Game had some promise.

Actually the character you let die in the beginning comes back as the final boss they talk about here.

If you saved your brother the wife comes back as the final boss but if you saved your wife then you fight your brother
@lonewolffang2 жыл бұрын
@@DamienDrake2940 Exactly. No matter who is left to die you have to fight them in the end.

I really liked the hidden ending of Days Gone. Really makes me want a sequel

I skipped the Guardians of the Galaxy part to avoid spoilers only to still learn later that there's a boss fight after the credits because you mention it in the Advent Rising part lmao

Wild Arms and Advent Rising we're so fun to me back in the day. Especially Wild Arms with all the Golems. The game just kept building.

I think the reason they included Avenged Sevenfold is because they released a song specifically for the Zombies mode of that game.
