The GTA V one... I thought it was kind of obvious that the sniper target was innocent as the your interrogation victim was just giving out a random description of a person so you'd stop torturing him. I knew from the very beginning that something wasn’t right with Lucas. Marguerite, Jack, and Zoe were clearly normal people at one point in time (evident by the care of certain decorations in the house, like the statue holding the shotgun). The mold took that normality from them, stripped them down to primal instinct, and made them irredeemably *reckless*. Post-mold, both Marguerite and Jack lacked any sense of self-preservation. They simply didn’t care whether or not they died at the hands of Ethan. The only family member (sans Zoe) who had a single care for their own life was Lucas. He was always completely cognizant of what he was doing, remained articulate, and continued to be incredibly competent with technology. This form of higher brain function was essentially absent in Marguerite and Jack.

My favorite game twist will always be your character in Knights of the Old Republic being the supposedly dead Sith Lord Revan. The fact that the game shows you the small hints throughout the game as this is revealed is kind of cool. I was blown away when I first played it in '05. Late to the party, but thankfully not spoiled. In hindsight, it was obvious. A masked Sith who never spoke and the occasional talk of mind manipulation and you being special made it so apparent. It's been a while, but I think Calo Nord may have alluded to the PC's identity during your encounter with him after Taris. Maybe even in the scene where he's shown to be alive. 1:15: First of all, nobody missed the connection between Wander and Ico any more than anyone missed the connection between the Boy from The Last Guardian and Trico from both (especially given the original names, "Ico," "Nico," and "Trico"). But more importantly, DORMIN DID *_NOT_* "TRICK" WANDER. Dormin told him up front that it was possible, but that the price Wander would pay would be immense. Wander told Dormin that "It doesn't matter." Only _then_ did Dormin tell him what needed to be done. And in the end, Dormin kept the promise. Mono is alive at the end, isn't she? Wander paid an immense price, right? Show me the dishonesty.
@Mariewolf_945 жыл бұрын

@@WakenerOne fair enough, but it still begs the question if Wander KNEW killing the Colussi would free a dark being of destruction. if he did, then youre not wrong: there was no deception if he was fully aware of the stakes but didnt care. if he DIDNT know, then there was deception, even if it was only a half lie. omitting information is still lying to some extent

@@Mariewolf_94 Not even then, no. Wander did not care about that. He only cared about resurrecting her, and he did not care about the price. If you ask me to give you a lift, but you hate foreigners and I did not tell you I was a foreigner when I accepted to give you a lift, I'm not deceiving you. You did not ask whether I was a foreigner or not, hence it had nothing to do with our deal whatsoever. It's completely unrelated. Plot twist: Dormin was a good God, not an evil one. Evidence: Dormin warns Wander against doing the ritual in their first meeting, and even warns him of the cost, but respects his decision and doesn't warn him again. Dormin also kept his promise and through out the game you can hear Wander's love breathing during the transition scenes. Even if he hadn't been turned into a baby, she would have come back to life just as Dormin promised.

Na, that does not make Dormin good, it just means he/she/it is honest. Honesty does not mean you are good or bad.
@lorddinosaur98853 жыл бұрын
I believed this theory but one thing that makes me doubtful is that when you attempt to leave the Forbidden Land across the bridge, you are prevented from doing so. This is most likely just for gameplay reasons but there has to be an explanation for it, though there could be several reasons for Dormin trapping Wander in.
@Exile_Sky3 жыл бұрын
@@lorddinosaur9885 It's absolutely a gameplay thing, but Wander wouldn't want to leave the Forbidden Land. They want to complete the ritual, it's why the game is even taking place. The player heading to the edge and trying to leave is actually counter to the desires of the Character.
@Exile_Sky3 жыл бұрын
@@FastForwardPlans Honesty is a good trait, that's why people dislike dishonest people. Given Dormin's position, they had no reason to keep their word, but they did anyway. It makes more sense to me that the ancient people just became afraid of a being that could control life and death. Fear is a powerful motivator, and it can blind you to things that are true.
@FastForwardPlans3 жыл бұрын
@@Exile_Sky One trait does not a whole complex being make. Honesty while in a simplified view is good, but people can be honest in ways that are bad for those around them. For a light example, say someone is overweight and very self conscious of it. Yes it is true they are overweight but repeatedly telling them they are does not help them. It is simply being malicious and may in fact cause them to harm themselves. For a more extreme example, say I knew exactly where some random dude in canada lives, and I choose to share that information with people I knew would use it to threaten or hurt said dude in Canada. Again that is honest, but not good. In the case of Dormin, he was honest and acted on his promise, as he knew it would push Wander to keep going even when it became obvious that the process was killing Wander. It's actually a common trope in fiction about demons of them being completely honest and open, yet still tricking people into self destruction anyway, as the information that given, while true, just drove them forward to their own end.

And a couple of throwaway lines/dated vernaculars (“no centaurs in Oxford”; “she got what she wanted in the end”) show the complete extent to his villainy without explicitly saying/showing what happened to Lizzie. Also, in Among the Sleep, the lullaby that the mother hums at the beginning is an old Swedish folk song called “Trollmors vaggsång” (Troll Mother’s Lullaby) about a troll mother putting her little ones to sleep. Given the demonic nature of trolls in Norse mythology, this nightmarish lullaby gives an insight to the mother’s true dark nature.

@@catc2938 He's not. There's a note that says that it's good for the Thalmor if Ulfric keeps the civil war going and weakens Skyrim. If he loses then the Empire becomes somewhat more cohesive and if he wins then the Thalmor has a new dangerous enemy, so he's not a sleeper agent

This may not be all that subtle because you have to pick the books up as a part of the main quest, but in Skyrim you collect reports from the Thalmor Embassy that insinuate Ulfric Stormcloak is or once was a Thalmor double agent whose purpose was to weaken the Empire.
@xavierquick4315 жыл бұрын
SadwichPunch2100 he was not a double agent. The Thalmor let him escape because they knew indirectly he would’ve inadvertently helped them.
@Wandervenn5 жыл бұрын
Yeah Ulfric isnt a double agent. The thalmor used him as a pawn. They captured him, tortured him, and then let him escape. They set both sides against each other so they could swoop in an gain greater control after Skyrim tore itself apart. It's still a good suggestion though. A lot of people failed to pick up on the fact neither side was inherently bad and that the entire war was devised by the Thalmor.
@SadwichPunch21005 жыл бұрын
@@xavierquick431 Technically you're wrong, it clearly states that "After the war, contact was established and he has proven his worth as an asset." After the Markarth Incident he has grown uncooperative and since then he has gone "dormant". Even then they continue to monitor and aid Ulfric as they can but because they want the Civil War to continue as long as possible with no clear winner. "so even indirect aid to the Stormcloaks must be carefully managed."
@SadwichPunch21005 жыл бұрын
@@Wandervenn I point you to my other reply.
@SadwichPunch21005 жыл бұрын
The full Dossier reads as follows... "Status: Asset (uncooperative), Dormant, Emissary Level Approval Description: Jarl of Windhelm, leader of the Stormcloak rebellion, Imperial Legion veteran Background: Ulfric first came to our attention during the First War against the Empire, when he was taken as a prisoner of war during the campaign for the White-Gold Tower. Under interrogation, we learned of his potential value (son of the Jarl of Windhelm) and he was assigned as an asset to the interrogator, who is now First Emissary Elenwen. He was made to believe information obtained during his interrogation was crucial in the capture of the Imperial City (the city had in fact fallen before he had broken), and then allowed to escape. After the war, contact was established and he has proven his worth as an asset. The so-called Markarth Incident was particularly valuable from the point of view of our strategic goals in Skyrim, although it resulted in Ulfric becoming generally uncooperative to direct contact. Operational Notes: Direct contact remains a possibility (under extreme circumstances), but in general the asset should be considered dormant. As long as the civil war proceeds in its current indecisive fashion, we should remain hands-off. The incident at Helgen is an example where an exception had to be made - obviously Ulfric's death would have dramatically increased the chance of an Imperial victory and thus harmed our overall position in Skyrim. (NOTE: The coincidental intervention of the dragon at Helgen is still under scrutiny. The obvious conclusion is that whoever is behind the dragons also has an interest in the continuation of the war, but we should not assume therefore that their goals align with our own.) A Stormcloak victory is also to be avoided, however, so even indirect aid to the Stormcloaks must be carefully managed." By read of that the Thalmor did in fact establish contact and use Ulfric as an asset against the Empire to pull off the Markarth Incident. After which Ulfric ultimately became "uncooperative", and thus dubbed "dormant". Though the Thalmor are continuing to monitor and aid Ulfric when they can in order to continue the on going Civil War and ensure there is no clear cut winner for the time being. They even go so far as to say that "Direct contact remains a possibility (under extreme circumstances)". Meaning the Thalmor still believe they can directly contact and use him as an asset if in dire need.

For inside I prefer the theory that pulling the plug breaks the cycle of tests that the facility is running to improve the huddle or hivemind. They want the player to make it to the huddle, that's why they have a miniature layout of the facility and the surrounding area, and even the spot where the player stops at the end when fused within the huddle.
