The weirdest thing I've seen with the birth of kittens was a completely transparent placenta. Mommy gave birth to one huge kitten, 2 regular sized kittens, then a clear placenta with a perfectly visible fetus that was still alive! I've never seen anything like it! I've seen something similar to the rat king before, except it was with kittens. Neighbor took in a pregnant stray and when the cat gave birth, the ambilocal cords all got tangled and knotted together. Took us about 30 minutes to carefully untangle, snip and tie off the cords and save the kittens. It was the weirdest thing I've seen with a cat giving birth.

omg! I had the same thing happen to me. we literally had a vet lining next door & he advised we leave them on for the mother to eat (for nutrients - apparently it's normal) it felt like forever to snip them all apart I can remember the smell too 17 years later
