Detention was horrifying, but I really liked it. The sadness behind the horror was very effective. I recommend The Cat Lady, it was disturbing. Tokyo Dark was also very cool, though it had a couple of exposition dumps that were too long. Beholder 2 isn't a horror game as such, but that had some really disturbing and horrifying moments as well.

Let it be known, I think the horror genre isn’t going to survive through movies, but through games instead The ideas these horror game developers have are unbelievable. agreed but i think for films, the psychological horror concept is better.. stuff like black mirror, midsommar, hereditary, get out aren't in your face or surface scary like these games but are creepy or horrifying bc of the thoughts that what if this happened to you irl - they mess ur mind up

Sally Face, The Cat Lady, Downfall (Remake), and Lorelai are all also amazing side scrolling horror games. While the three games in the The Devil Came Though Here Trilogy (Cat Lady, Downfall, and Lorelai) are all finished and ready to play, Sally Face is an episodic game with one episode left. Its amazing and gory and wonderful. The other games deal with depression, dug use, death, and what it means to be a killer. All 4 games are wonderful.

In my opinion, one of the best games on this list is Detention. It shows the risky things you could do in the past in Taiwan. The ending was very eerie yet heartbreaking knowing that (SPOILER ALERT) a school girl was responsible for so many deaths all because of love.

I really hate and like Neverending Nightmares at the same time. It gave me nightmares when I was little.
