thank you for this romi! as a trans man that has been crocheting and knitting long before i ever started transitioning it has been hard to find patterns and inspiration now that i have medically transitioned and have a different body shape (fat redistribution on T is very real, lol). so many patterns online are created with feminine body shapes and styles in mind and especially thin body shapes. its nice to see some different kinds of creators
@Showmeromi5 ай бұрын
Of course! I'm glad it's helpful. I think the body shape differences are pretty important when it comes to the final fit, so it's good to have more people to follow :)

As a Brazilian I never expected to watch this video and see you talking about Brazilian creators lol, but 100% agree, I already followed Taylor Xavier's page but never heard about Rodrigo's but had a look and his stuff is amazing! Lot's of love from Brazil ❣️ 🇧🇷

As a French and sorta Spanish speaker, the idea to follow Brazilian crochet artists feels like a secret life hack. I didn't realize their tutorials would be so accessible. The only hard part is trying to identity the gauges of the yarn they are using because it isn't sold here and they only briefly show the labels. Their tailoring is next level. Crochet that looks like really good resort ready to wear.
@Showmeromi5 ай бұрын
Absolutely. I can recognize stitches by site mostly. I can approximate gauge by site but it's impossible to know exactly.

Btw don’t feel like it’s less productive to follow other peoples patterns - it will probably really broaden your approach to your own designs. Market research 😎 I design my own patterns for most of what I make but the joy and inspiration I get and the new techniques/new approaches I learn from following an occasional pattern is so worthwhile!
@Showmeromi5 ай бұрын
That's true. If i hadn't bought a few patterns at the start I would have never been able to make any to sell myself. Thing is editing and filming takes at least 10 hours per video, making full garments takes about 50 hours, and then writing patterns take hours too, so with a full time job I don't get to make other things anymore 🥲

thank you for compiling these recommendations! a few of them i already watch and love haha but there were also some new ones that i had never encountered before! i'm nonbinary and definitely need to make some more masculine crochet patterns -- maybe even in time for pride month 👀 so these are gonna be helpful for sure! (the only exception for me is that tlyarncraft has started using an AI-generated logo in her branding which i'm REALLY uncomfortable with as i'm also a visual artist 😔 i loved watching her content but that just really rubbed me the wrong way)
@Showmeromi5 ай бұрын
I never noticed! I feel like AI generated art is just everywhere in the crochet world lately. Been thinking of making a video about it
@13ellamy5 ай бұрын
@@Showmeromi i would definitely watch a video about ai-generated crochet! ai images are absolutely EVERYWHERE in crochet spaces these days! people in the "crochet patterns" subreddit are often asking for help finding a pattern that matches an image they found, and the pattern doesn't even exist because the image is ai! there's also scam websites that have ai images AND ai patterns paired together. i've even gotten video recommendations once or twice on youtube that are entitled something very generic like "crochet ideas" and it's just a slideshow of ai-generated crochet images set to royalty free music. SO weird! (and the ai generated logo is for her "the hive" stuff, so, it's not everywhere by any means! but she does sometimes wear her merch with the logo on it in videos)
