Last night I made potato leek soup for the first time. Every single ingredient was from the garden except for the bay leaf, the butter and the milk. Even the broth was homemade. It was amazing. You just can’t beat it.

yeah, i'm gonna do a winter garden this year, just keep on growing stuff. this spring/summer was my first attempt, i will do things differently with tomatoes next year, my staking system worked very poorly and the plants got out of control. i am surprised he didn't mention broccoli as a winter crop, i see it growing in the snow here. i think collards/kales do ok in cold weather also, might be wrong about that tho. i have metal hoops i'll just stick in the ground and put some cheap poly over them. i use office binder clips to secure the poly to the hoops, and throw down boards to hold the plastic to the ground. nothing fancy, but it will work...

Grew tatsoi here over last winter (Zone 6B-7A on the south shore of Lake Erie). On cold 10-degree days the leaves would shatter like a piece of glass if you touched it; a few days later when it was 40 the leaves would spring back to their lively selves and new leaves were pushing out even in February. Ate those things through April!

Pri-gi-oni!!!! You are wonderful! I have to share.... I'm in zone 6 STL. My O's (Olivia, min-pin and Oliver, labrador) jump on my head at 6am, they're my doggie alarm clocks! Every morning we go out to tend the garden and their favorite is getting a fresh pulled carrot from ERBs (elevated raised beds). Oliver stares at the cucumber plants and drools as he waits for me to harvest those. They're job is to chase away critters then wait for a harvest reward. Tuck just gets in there! Well, I'm a dog mom so I really appreciate seeing Tuck busy in the garden. Heartwarming 😊 Thank you for sharing all the helpful info about gardening. You too are loved and appreciated. ❤️

I am grateful for your videos. I get inspired, but when I go out I feel deflated. We are in southern Colorado and on a flat mesa. So the wind is high and we have bindweed like crazy. Folks at the nursery tell me to plant only in beds, don't disturb the soil. So with bindweed that grow through anything with a crack or hole, 7,000 ft above sea level, and intense sun and wind from March to July, gardening is such a challenge for me. I have gardened in the red clay of GA, in ice and snow in Ohio, but Colorado....whew! This is a tough one. So, I come here to watch your inspiration and hope I can find a way to overcome all these challenges. I miss being out digging in the raised beds all season. Thanks for your videos. They get me thinking of ideas.

yeah it never ends alright, i had to take out some tomato plants tonight that sprawled all over my garden, then had to prepare the bed and plant beets, carrots radishes and lettuces i had in flats from seeds i started a month ago. got through the beets and half the carrots before i lost the light and had to quit. i will hit it again first thing tomorrow. right now i am trying to regain some energy so i can prepare my dinner. i think i will have a chard omelet since i broke off a lot of it to plant the beets. it's already past 9 pm. don't pretend it's not a lot of work crawling on your knees, etc...

@@sarahrussie2317 haha, well i hit it after lunch, got down and dirty, planted my carrots, radishes, lettuce. had more lettuce than i had space for, so threw some away. i am trying to give 6-12 inches spacing for it since it gets so big. i have so little space i will have to go for the sq ft method next year. i also will try to direct seed in the ground because carrot starts are hard to handle. i won't lie, i am tired and my back is aching, i sweated and had to hose the mud off my jeans, but it's done for now. the endless adventure will continue with watering, weeding, and the like. next round will be winter crops and a hoop house i can quickly erect and remove by spring in time for summer crops.

Enjoyed the video. I’m in Northern DE and am trying to get more out of my garden in the Fall. Just put some Bok Choi seeds down after the recent 90+ temperatures which I am guessing will be too late but experimenting is half the fun. If you have not already tried them consider ice cycle radishes. Very fast growing and a bit less of a bite than other radishes. By the way the Soldackis were a great recommendation. Great flavor and they are the only full-size tomato that are still producing.
