I usually listen to these while driving, so the description of “Robert” made me think of the brother from Everybody Loves Raymond but as a dangerous stalker

The portrait of the little boy was a very popular series 1970s. In fact, my older sisters bought one for my parents. It remained in place over the mantlepiece for decades. It's definitely not cursed or whatever, it is, as you said, essentially fireproof. Apparently the painting was covered by a varnish which was also a fire retardant. FYI, if something is reported by The Sun, give it no weight whatsoever. It's barely defined as a newspaper.

What's the appeal of looking at an image of an upset child? I mean, at least in a painting it's wailing can't be heard, but it's still an image of pain/frustration/exhaustion/anger/injustice... Wanting, and then keeping such a thing, regardless of whether a bunch of other people are doing it, seems absolutely insane to me. If anyone can help me understand the appeal, or the social context that led to people considering these decorative, rather than torture-pron, I'm deeply curious.

@@lynn858 don't ask me, my sisters were teens, the print was popular and probably cheap enough for them. My mum wouldn't have done anything to offend them so it went on the wall. The version we had wasn't particularly sad, it actually looked like a "proper painting", but I did occasionally wonder what it was about. I think it would have been binned when Mum went into a care home because I can't remember seeing it when visiting Dad after (I live a long way from home). It definitely wasn't there when he died.

5:23 a kid was strangled to death when his bicycle chain became dislodged and got wrapped around his neck. The series of impossible events that would have to happen in order for that to happen are beyond the realm of even a Harry Potter series.

Wonder if Robert inspired the BNL song "Just a toy"... My favorite line is "I call him liar, you call him son If I could move, I'd set him on fire and I'd run" and the refrain "I know you must've loved me sometime, but now I'm just a toy"

Can a person be a “cursed object”? A kid threw rocks at me-died from where someone suspended a wire or rope over an ATV trail he was on. Another kid years before jabbed me with a pencil during a prank and died when trying to jump a train and fell under it. A fast food place I worked for closed. Another allegedly burned down and was rebuilt (although that could also be because the fast food places in general revamped designs of buildings). A school district I worked for merged into another and no longer exists. A camera chain I worked for was acquired by another and after I left for another job, that one went out of business. A drug store chain I worked briefly went out of business. Two Halloween stores I worked for vanished from at least the region (not Spirit-they are everywhere!). A casino hotel I worked for closed (but reopened as just a hotel). Finally, a professional photolab I worked for closed and the building was bought by a microbrewery. Family history has mentioned an ancestor of a mysterious branch of the family tree was a witch who put a curse on her daughter and grandson, who are direct ancestors to me.

Ok i have a few thoughts. 1st i think all dolls are creepy and the way "Robert" is constructed is just creepy. Id have it in my apt. Just to dispell any curses that it might have on it. 2nd who would want a painting of a crying boy or girl or any crying anybody for that matter. They are just too stinking depressing. 3rd anyone who uses parts from a wrecked car, aircraft, boat, train, anything where a death is involved is asking for problems. A guy that found some bricks that was part of the wall were the victims of the St. Valentine's Day Massacre were lined up against before they were gunned down. There were bullett holes and splatters of blood on them. He brought home i think 3 of thes bricks (why? I have no idea) and his life went downhill after that 3 divorces, 3 seperate medical problems etc etc. He finally brought the bricks and back put them right were he found them. His life got increasingly better. There was an situation where an airplane crashed and alot of people lost their lives. Salvageable parts from the crashed airplane were used in another airplane. And the ghosts of the dead crew started showing up in the airplane that the parts were used in. Just food for thought. Have a great day everyone

5:07 "en flagrate delcatto" (that's what it sounds like, and that's how the captions read) ... Did you mean "en flagrante delicto"??? Flagrate versus flagrante is only one sound, an easy mistake. But what is delcatto? That's nothing LIKE delicto. Any way I try to Google en flagrate delcatto, it keeps returning to en flagrante delicto. Do you know of a Latin saying Google doesn't?

Its not quite an object... but my sister had chinchillas. They were never let out of their cage unsupervised, but when things went missing they were usually found under the cage. We figure it was probably my sisters' friends or a younger cousin who was playing a private game but honestly there is no evidence as to what the actual explanation is.

Killing your contractor is obviously an American standard of customer redress. Many Americans revere the grifters' talent and will even elect them to public office, as long as he is a devout Christian. "I'm the most Christian POTUS in American history" said one grifter, and two Corinthians agreed with him.

The Ouija Board is another, it looks harmless, but by the time you try to use it communicate with spirits, it opens an invisible portal for a demon to enter the person's life who uses it, haunting him / her forever until the person is exorcised.
