You can use all the melee weapons to open a can, but depending on what you open it with will depend on how much will be left in the can, use a hammer, you'll open the can with 50% to 70% left in the can, but if you use a knife or can opener, it'll be about 90% to 100% left, this can range to crowbars, saws, anything sharp or blunt to open cans

When you're fresh put your handguns/sawed-off weapons inside small containers i.e. skillets protective cases cooking pots. So when you get tied up and searched they may be overlooked

oldest trick was the "my leg is broken" . As your running with someone just go prone and tell out that your leg broke, help with the process of making a splint and as their applying it just unholster your weapon and shoot them in the head.

After you tie someone up, take their shoes. It's so simple. And maybe take their rags/bandages, too, so they don't use it to make footwraps. They'll bleed out slowly from cuts.

There's also nowadays the sniper elite tactic. If you're good enough shot and you have a scoped weapon and you see a group moving if they're not spaced out enough if you can peg one of their grenades that they have pinned their vest because a lot of people will do that you can do some serious damage. At best you'll take out one two or even three people, at worst you'll fuck up all of their gear and at least incapacitate one of them.

You can never stop looting, and must always be running. Get yourself an online map, so you can refer to it and always know where to head next, in land always has more loot. It is a risk, but thats the name of the game. I have never once starved to death in dayz because of this.

Told a bunch of french noobs that they could put the bear down with six .22 rounds. They had the Mk ll gun.. 1 of them got mauled the other KO. When that one woke up he was asking for help as he had a broken leg. I watched him in silent from the window of the house. Bear was still outside near him. All I regret is I didnt record it

Fruit is your best friend at the beginning, especially fresh fruit. Trees around houses will have fruit normally, once you get the eye for what fruit trees look like you are good. Don't eat rotten fruit. Try to get your food and hydration bar to white. Raw fruit and mushrooms fill both hydration and food. Don't over eat, even if it means leaving unfinished portion in your inventory. The bars tend to hold better the fuller they are. Don't run if you don't have to it drains a lot of hydration and food. If you drink creek water don't drink more than a few sips your chances of getting sick are slim, providing you have been keeping your health and food bar up.

More tips you didn't know about 1. You can put a landmine under the drivers side of a car it also trips when sat in. 2. You can handcuff or tie up a player and force them to drink disinfectant it makes for painfully slow death. 3. Campfires make great road traps pretty easy to make. 4. A can of beans makes for a cheap pair of brass knuckles allowing for more damage melee in early in the game.
