Great video + concept. Spot on, especially that Flea-esque fill. What's the benefit of the V-Drums acoustic series? Is it just to get the form factor of an acoustic kit, or is there any technical benefit to it?

@@bringit261 nah, it's not a superpower. Alex just put a lot of time into it. He knows the artists and their different styles, he knows his instruments, and he practiced a lot. No matter how talented you are, you don't get there without putting in the time. Honestly, I don't think talent is even a thing, it's all about how much motivation you have to get good at something and how early in life you start on it.

The Alex Melton cinematic universe's lore expands with this conversation. How do the drummer and the bassist really feel about each other? Will we ever see a second guitarist move to take the frontman / singer role? Which Alex is arranging all of these covers but maybe doesn't get enough credit? We'll have to stay tuned to find out.

I think its great though that youre able to break down what makes a band's sound specific to them. Little nuances you dont really pick up on generally, at least passively listening to. The sound is critical with all members of the band coming together.

I disagree. That would be cool but he’s most often just taking the drum and bass part directly from one of those other bands’ songs and slapping them into the track without changes. That’s why they sound like the band. It’s not “in the style of” it’s just literally what they’ve played before

As the newer drummer in a band, I once learned so much by following an amazing experienced bass player. He really led me down the path to where years later I now have confidence to lead the band. I never really paid attention to bass before then and now it's one of my favorite parts to listen to in music.

After going through all the versions, I decided The 1975 one was my favorite. Then I went and replayed it to make sure, and realized that was almost entirely because of the groovy ass guitar. I think I failed this exercise. I am definitely aware of how impactful a top-notch rhythm section is though. The bass is frequently under-utilized in most music.
