Rather than one being able to use the other to evolve, looking at how they're both "armor" in some way, even on a debatably similar powerlevel, combining the two would be an interesting idea, like a Spirit-infused Armor, or a modified Armor Spirit, or just plain a sort of "Jogress".

Besides the Golden Armor Evolution resulting in Digimon with power above the Ultimate Level normal Armors are roughly Adult Level. The Child Hybrids Flaremon and Strabimon have power surpassing normal Adults. Human Spirits have power surpassing Perfects and on one ocasion since the Hybrids are created by converting and multiplying the potential of analog humans into Digimon formed from digital data and the superiority of the human part greatly determines the Human Spirits power Agnimon one shot an Ultimate Level,Murmukusmon. The "Cross Fire Slash" combo between Wolfmon and Agnimon boasts power equal to Trinity Burst performed by Megalo Growmon,Rapidmon and Taomon. An attack that killed Gulfmon a Digimon who created a dimension based on the destruction of the human world and that can destroy the Digital World in 7 days. A Digimon so deadly that it lives in Cocytus, the deepest part of the Dark Area, with Grandracmon and the 7 Great Demon Lords. Two Human Spirits = 3 Perfects(Megalo Growmon boasts power equal to or greater than an Ultimate) The Beasts Spirits are officially stated by Digimon Hyper Colosseum Booster 15 to boast power surpassing Ultimate Levels,and to posses the power and ferociousness of the Warrior Ten. Fusion Spirits posses the full power of their specific Warrior Ten, Digimon with power surpassing that of present day Ultimates, while being stronger then them via yet unseen special abilities. Human Spirits like Lowemon boasts the power of a Fusion Spirit because of the Neebelnge Ring on his right index finger. Duskmon being its corrupted form boast power equal to it. Lowemon was originally planned to be a Fusion Spirit, the fusion of Duskmon and Velgrmon.

Honestly, one of my favorite armor evos has always been in Digimon World DS. Gargomon using the Digimental of Kindness to Digivolve to Prariemon. Yes it would be a better alternative Champion for Lopmon but the big gun dog becoming a Prariedog(!!!) With huge blades is just super fun to me

I feel like with the armor Digimon using other digimentals it's less of a true digivolution and more of a slide evolution. Like they're popping one armor off and replacing it with the power of the new one. Or maybe it could be that if a Digimon naturally evolved into what is normally an armor form, it already has a natural compatibility with the unique data of the digimentals?

I remember that as a kid, I would have my dream partner, Gotsumon, armor digivolve into Stegomon in the little daydreams that I would have because it worked a lot like V-Tamer where it was sort of permanent normally so to get around that we used armor digivolution to get that champion power without him being stuck as a Monochromon. Eventually I dropped it and instead brought the concept back when I would have my multiverse daydreams when a version of Ken that succeeded in his Digimon Emperor plans used a Parallelmon to try and conquer other timelines, forcing the return use of the Digi-eggs by not only the 02 kids, but a bunch of other characters including myself in order to stop a Ken beyond redemption. It was incredibly silly for the most part and half the time just had me getting into fights over incredibly petty things because I was a goofy kid.

I'd love a X-Evolution style movie that features an all Digimon cast focusing on the ancient Digital World where Armor Digivolution was used, or even a 'Digimon Legends' game in the style of PL:A where you have Tamers using the Digimentals in this ancient world and introducing new armor forms or even extinct 'Ancient' Digimon as all of the new partners for 02 are supposedly some kind of ancient Digimon which is why they can armor Digivolve. (Which absolutely does not explain Patamon and Gatomon, but oh well.)

@Karn EX I'm not sure if you've done a video on this before but I recently started wondering what if the Digidestined rookies got overpowered forms? Take Hackmon for example. It's said that it can "more than hold its own" against ultimate digimons. So it got me imagining what an overpowered, for instance, Agumon would look like with armour and a hood. For simplicity's sake, maybe you can just explore the rookie forms without going into their evolution lines. I know there's the X-Antibody stuff and all but I'm thinking of it as a separate theme. Just an idea!

The X-Antibodies can all evolve into the same Armor Digimon as their original counterparts because the original card game didn't treat them as separate Digimon. Gabumon X was just a Gabumon card but with a red border. Some later cards specified what color border the card they evolved from had to be but none of the Armor Digimon did. The same is mostly true of Digimon like Gabumon (Black) who was just listed as Gabumon in the card game, and only ruled out if a card specified what attribute the Digimon had to be. Moosemon only evolving from regular Gabumon is based on the way Gaomon's evolution chart looks in Digimon World: Data Squad, where Moosemon branches off of Gabumon. Unrelated, but Terriermon actually has the exact same number of armor evolutions as Chuumon. Terriermon can also become Magnamon with Miracles.

Probably the other way around! Lotusmon was designed 8 years after Aruraumon, but I think they are intended to be connected somewhat!

While Spirits is more limited, with how each Spirits tied to specific Digimon, Digimental is more broad, with any Digimon have a potential to use Digimental for Armor Digivolution. But too bad that most of Armor Digivolution design is kinda... something...

Evolution in digimon is...an abstract concept to say the least. Considering how some evolution make absolutely no sense whatsoever, I wouldn't be surprised if more "side" evolution became popular just to make evolution lines EVEN MORE convoluted.
