I did a similar challenge on my own, but I went to the Just-A-Buck store. Hints: Try a paint drop cloth (9'X 12") for a pretty decent-sized shelter. Rub the matches against the candle wax to make them at least water-resistant (too much wax loads the striker strip). A box of gallon-size ziplock bags for a waterproof package. The 2-knife selection was good, considering what they usually have available in those stores.

Those lids will pop off like nothing. They are the worst containers on the planet. And they aren't waterproof either. I would have got a box of large ziplock baggies and used all of them, one inside the other and it would definitely be waterproof and you could use the baggies for other things. Lighting fires, carrying water, storing food or berries, and boiling water.

My dad and I were elk hunting in Oregon this past spring and we hiked 10 miles in and realized that we forgot all of our means of making a fire in his truck. We had some paracord with us and he knew how to make a bow drill set. After about 3 hours we both gave up on the bow drilling. He claims that it was because as we got higher in elevation, cedar, which is decent material for a bow drill set was no longer present in the woods we were in. It was mainly sapling spruce. It was getting darker and was about 33 degrees fahrenheit according to my miniature thermometer gauge and it was only about 7 p.m. Then we started getting worried about warmth. We had decided to test our wits and not take sleeping bags or very much gear. (we decided to take matches though because we didn't want to be miserable, but we were all in for trying to make a bow drill instead, and well the matches were 10 miles back the way we came across somewhat dangerous terrain to be in at night.) Dad had a .45 caliber semi-auto pistol for protection and we jury-rigged a bird's nest to catch sparks from the end of the barrel when the firing pin was activated and gunpowder combusts( the solid bullet was obviously removed!) As you may have guessed, it failed miserably lol even after trying 5 or so rounds. That really brought us down as we thought that it was our last hope for fire that night. I was passing the time by looking at some of the pictures that I took of some waterfalls earlier in the day and then I realized that I had a detachable flash! I quickly told my dad about what I had read before that someone had busted a bulb on a flashlight and produced a spark with the filament inside. He thought it was farfetched but I persuaded him to help me out. I took apart the flash and we observed the components, there were capacitors, 3 wires, a bulb, a charger switch, and a discharge button and a battery of course. We carefully cracked the bulb and tried the switch, nothing. However, we quickly realized that we did not need the bulb, but a live end of one of the wires. We cut into one and struck a fluffed up q-tip with a discharge from the battery of the flash and voila, a fire! My dad freaked out with joy and I swear that these words came from his mouth: "Oh holy duck fuck!" lol I laughed so hard! A quickly placed it in our dry bird's nest of spanish moss and other things and shortly after we had a good fire that lasted and kept us warm all us all night. Worst part was I didn't get it on tape with my damn camera!!!

Great idea! I will say that I don't think that the orange table cloth will withstand a heavy downpour. I've had many a birthday party with those cloths, and they tear pretty easily. That particular store may not have had them in stock, but DG has a package of 7 large black trash bags for $1.00. You could even get the ones with the pull strings and use those for something. It probably would have covered more area when opened up and put together. Duck tape is a must. We'll have to try this for ourselves and see what we can do :) Can't wait to watch the Mrs.!

When my dog got trapped in a snare I had to cut down a small tree with a knife from the dollar store lol.
@blakethesnake66866 жыл бұрын
mate, you can't cut down a tree with a knife, stop lying. if your dog was caught in a snare then you could just cut the snare. r/quityourbullshit

You ain't gonna cut a damn tree with a knife, stop lying. No matter the size of the tree, plus just snap the tree branch.

You could just dip the match heads in wax from the candles and go without the flashlight so you would have $2 more (duct tape?)

It is funny that you did this video Wranglerstar! I walked into my Dollar Tree store and found a stack of these Home Emergency Supply Checklist attached to their shelves. The list totals more than the $10 but it was just too ironic that I found the list after watching your video.
