Hi Jimmy, Thanks so much for your inspiring words. I live in Downtown San Diego, (Gaslamp) and I bought my first Onewheel Pint, last week. I’m absolutely in love with it, and getting better every day. I’m a former infantry Marine, combat Veteran, was recently diagnosed with a condition, to where I can no longer drive a vehicle. This board has been a wonderful asset to me, already. And After watching your video, I’m even more excited that I made the decision to purchase it. I had no idea these group rides exist, until now! Thanks man, I’m definitely going to look into it!

Thank you for the mention, sir! For some reason I'm still chugging along with an outdated board... 😳 But I still watch all your videos, even the scooter ones. And I'm glad to see that there's a quirky NYC type character in other cities as well, offering up gems of wisdom about helmets on rollerblades, the Mighty Mississippi, not swimming in dirty lakes, and murdered neighbors. The world is full of odd and interesting stories. Cheers Jimmy!

Just had my first nosedive at 27mph on Sunday. Still healing from it. I have my XR torn down right now because all the fender, footpads, bumpers, everything needs to be replaced. Thanks for the tips. I have been really hesitant about joining group rides so far. I ride a Pint and my local community of riders seems to be pretty antagonistic towards them (based on the Facebook group). They seem to feel that just because the XR suits their needs better, it must be better for everyone.

One small point of feedback. Put the tip or suggestions in the positive rather than the negative “don’t”. Say what you want people to do rather than what “not” or don’t do. There are a number of good reason to use that approach. Overall though a really fun video to watch with good guidance.

My first and only group rider so far had many people. What I didn’t like is that at intersections with lights, even if it turned red, one person would hold cross traffic while the rest of the group rode through. I prefer the group stop at the red light. I don’t want to anger motorists and make them think lowly of onewheelers, and don’t want to risk anyone getting hit. I also didn’t like when other riders were riding directly into oncoming pedestrians only to move over at the last second. I don’t think pedestrians should necessarily feel the need to step to the side every time.

In the time that I've owned this amazing device that I call a Onewheel, I've only ever encountered 2 other OneWheels. I live in France and it seems like in the west part where I just left, PEVs (except for public-use Electric scooters) aren't very popular which is a shame. I've yet to experience a group ride but I long for the day when that dream of mine will become reality.

I would have joined the Portland Onewheel group but I am busy healing from a torn rotator cuff and labrum. It happened about a month ago. I had a weird mysterious nosedive going slow and somehow I went stumbling forward and slid on, up and over my left shoulder and tore some stuff. I’ve rode about a half a mile since then. The crappy thing is, the weather has been great. Now I actually fear doing nosedives.
@bmrbca36583 жыл бұрын

@@bmrbca3658 I had fangs on my XR but I got a flat tire and had to send it to onewheel to put a new tire on it. It came back with the fangs off of it. I had not put them back on yet. It was very lonely when I got my first onewheel, I'm in Nottingham. We set up the onewheel midlands group on Facebook, just 2 of us, and now we are 210 members and growing fast, just 2 years on. Pockets of riders form once they know there's other riders. Grouprides start and we visit each others rides. Grouprides share the stoke and people see you and get involved too. So my advice is set up a group of there isn't one, and try a local one if there's a wider area group, or vica versa. A spare board to teach friends to persuade them to join the floatlife is a great thing also The UK floaters group has members all over, you can type your local cities in the search in the group to find previous posts and riders there. Add a post asking if there is anyone near you too. Good luck!

Size matters. If I'm a pedestrian or a biker in the Santa Monica, I am NOT comfortable to meet with so many riders like Marty's SoCal event. I mean not only PEV, just everything. Imho The infrastructure in most places of the US is not designed to accommodate so many bikes/motorcycles/pevs. Its the same experience when you get on the car in the weekend and suddenly a 30ish Harley Davidson come onto the freeway/highway. It's just annoying. That's why I don't join group ride.

I had a OW and i sold it... i miss it since then... The real reason for selling it was the lack of customer service in the EU. They have to make a customer factory here... all the service dudes here are private OW fans... buying second hand parts and stuff... its crazy. I had 1000km on my ow in about 3 months. Just think about that. I used google and redit forums to look up how the custumer service is... short answer it is really bad. Imaging shipping/airdropping this thing from austria to USA just to here that "everything is your fault... and there is water damage (because of a little rain - i mean look at there ads... its false advertisement) and you have to pay everything. Shipping back, repairs ... costs about a 3/4 of a new onewheel.
