My least favorite NPC quirk? When you're doing a stealth mission and if one enemy sees you, the other 30 enemies on the level instantly know exactly where you are.

You are right, there isn't. But that doesn't mean that all games need to use console commands to further your gameplay. He couldn't go on with his story because of NPCs blocking it. That is bad and hinders the playing experience. An unimportant npc guy falling trough the floor is bad but you can go on with the story without being impeded by it.

as a sidenote. If u see "nude" or "raggwearing" ppl in Skyrim (often entitled "crazed") those are usually werewolves. So i would guess that the naked dude killed of the imperials and stormcloaks in the early morning and then it went day. The scavanger and fox surely where involved somehow and one hit the other and so they got provoced (just like u hitting a guard while u fight a vampire). Funny situation nevertheless XD

So I was playing Fallout 4, and I had to do this escort mission where you escort the scribe to a place and shit. And oh my god, I thought the NPC AI was terrible before. He would run directly into the firefight. He would jump off of tall buildings and kill himself. He would step on ALL OF THE MINES. He would shoot the mini nukes even after I stopped the suicide bombers. One time he just walked into a fire and stayed there until he died. And because he's not a companion, I can't tell him to sit still, and I can't heal him. And for some goddamn reason, for just this one mission, the enemies were all super hard and Legendaries spawned in. I've never hated NPCs more in a game. And strangely enough, there was one time where an NPC was useful. Some professor dude with some mysterious serum. Dude was no joke. He was all "we need to get to my father" and he was not letting any of the raiders stop him. I swear, half of the kills on that mission were from him. That dude was determined as all hell. He would run in front of me and all I would see was blood splatters and heads rolling. Why can't Preston be like that? Why can't literally any other NPC be like that? Why can't the NPCs understand the simple concept of taking cover?

how about in skyrim when you are doing some sort of crafting and every time you turn around to go buy, sell, or put away something you have to come back and boot the npc from the crafting station you were using. Or worse, whenever you are smithing in skyrim and your follower is constantly switching stations with you after you kick them off of the one you need at the moment. Like, you don't even do anything but take up the space, please just wait on the sidewalk and tell me that you hate the weather only when I walk directly past you. Thank you Serana

Arma 2. They don't always take cover when they know they have been seen but damn, your team mates are useful: they shoot as accurately as enemy, they will help you (like heal) and they try to be stealthy at moments (usually when they think no one has seen them yet). Altho there are moments when that AI just doesn't work (usually on enemy side.. they are bit.. "linear".. they rarely change their spots, take cover and if they happen to want to move then they usually just run towards you). Some turnbased tactic/strategygames have nice ai going on. Original Xcom is hard (maybe because aliens in original games had better sight and sometimes better accuracy and more damaging weapons that normal humans you controlled had.. but that AI tries to hide, tries to find way to your back and it is brutal).. Battle For Wesnoth is also quite good.. it is not like human but really close.. at harder difficulties it knows what to prioritize.

One game specifically that makes me question the intelligence of NPCs was Earth Defence Force: Insect Armegeddon where the civilian hordes try to run away from the giant insects and robots, but after a while, run back TOWARDS the enemies and in the line of fire. Normally I would assume people would try to run as far away from a city being invaded but I guess if Chuck is running to the giant, acid spewing ants then the rest of us should run towards it too.

My least favorite NPC would be your sidekick or tag along npc or support npc. Whatever the case they cannot be seen by the enemy. I could be hiding behind the wall where I'm supposed to take down the guy, and where I'm out of sight. All of sudden the support npc would walk right in front of the enemy like he/she is invisible. This happens so often in most games. This is commonly recognized in The Last of Us. It's where Elie would walk around clickers without being heard or seen. You as Joel make one single sound or even get close they'll kill you or give chase.
