All great tips, not just for renters, home owners too. I really like the flameless candles; I have cats, they're safer to use around them. Don't have to worry about leaving the room and a candle getting knocked over, burned whiskers or tails. I have some that are on timers, they come on at the same time every night, once you set time and stay on for 5 hours. Just enough in the bathroom, no need to turn on a light.
@livingwithlk4 ай бұрын
Thank you so much! And yes to the candles -- exactly! I think mine have timers but I have no idea how to edit them? Sometimes I have turned them off and they're on again haha so I need to look into that..

@@livingwithlk - setting the candle timers. Switch on bottom, one direction turns the candle on till you turn it off. The-other direction, you turn it on at the time you want it to come on every night, it comes on, stays on for 4-5 hours and comes on at that same time daily till you reset it.

I have rented all my life & my absolute, all time best suggestion is fabric on walls. I find huge pieces of remnant fabric at auctions, thrift shops, garage sales etc... I hang the pieces with push pins or install a wire around top of walls and hang fabric from that with whatever clips i can find. Heavy Sheets also work. I love the patterns. Fabric can be changed at will and the holes filled when you move.

I’ve done the contact paper hack over (hear me out, it came out great) you know those Sterilite plasticky 3 drawer things on wheels? I have tried to find cuter storage for my sewing fabrics but they are just the most functional. I built a bureau top out of wood to go over them and covered the drawers in contact paper. It sort makes them disappear into the room instead of being a huge eyesore. Loved this video ❤

If you have even minor sewing skills, you can use tension rods to hang homemade curtains. You can also use glue tape to iron on hems, making it a sew - free option. I've even used tension shower curtain rods. You can find rings in fabric stores, and they have directions on putting them into the fabric. They're basically just cut and press together to seal the fabric edges into the rings. Putting toilet paper rolls in between the rings will support the fabric, making a nice, evenly waved curtain.

@Normalnot1Күн бұрын
I haven't read all the comments so I hope I'm not repeating what someone else has said. But… Another idea with curtains are bed sheets. A pair of twin size bedsheets will slide over a curtain rod and can be tied back. (the rod goes through the pocket that exists at the head of the flat sheet. And left gull length they easily ho ceiling to floor. Or, they can easily be hemmedbto the length you like. This also works in the bathroom as an putter shower curtain. You can use a springy type expanding curtain rod up near the ceiling and they look lovely. (credit for this hack belongs to my late mother, Barbara.) Love your videos. Subscribed

So many great ideas! The idea of the shower curtain liner for peel & stick tile?? 🤯 I will definitely be checking that out! I own my condo, and the bathroom floor was done in this white marble tile that is impossible to keep clean. I think it was supposed to look "high-end," but it's not my vibe at all. I'm not interested in hiring someone to demo it or in doing that myself, so this might be the hack that saves me!! Thank you!!

Ceiling Fans- usually the dull yellow bulb covers are usually just covered with the yellow designs vs the glass being made yellow. Remove the bulb covers and put them the dishwasher. You'll find after a long wash and dry cycle the yellow film just peels off. Then you can use glass paint to paint them to your style. Also, you can paint the blades as well as all the metal parts. A little work will give you a new looking ceiling fan.

For candle wax removal from linen, just put a thick paper bag, not waxed, of course and iron it. You will be amazed how much it will take it out your friend Gerri.
@nuthinbutloveАй бұрын
Yes! I learned this years ago and have used it several times on carpeting as well as furniture. I suggest being careful to not leave the iron in place long with furniture. I use a low iron so as not to damage carpet fibers and as the wax soaks into the brown paper bag I simply shift the bag around until it stops absorbing any wax.

I'm a lifelong diy'er & I've never known about the socket splitter. That would have come in handy with the dim, one bulb only, ceiling lights. I've also avoided putting peel and stick down on my rental floor because I've tested them out along with countertop vinyls and they do ruin whatever you put them on when trying to remove them and that adhesive is next to impossible to remove. So taping down a liner first, like the thin shower curtain, or a thin tarp, down first is an excellent hack! Thank you.

I've been using those plug-in with the sockets for probably 35 ish years, I'm 53 and as soon as I moved out on my own at 18 this was probably one of my first purchases so that I could have extra lights outside, I buy the one that you can screw a light bulb into so that you have the sockets and that one light bulb in case you need it, pull chain so that you can just have the one light or just the extra lights. Personally I think it's a little better than the one showing here because you can have the regular light.

YAAAASSSS! Hanging curtains correctly! I need some serious help though. We´re building a house in Germany that has a "technik room" which looks like a discard from the set of Lost in Space. It´s a man-engineers dream, but so-so UGLY to everyone else. Can you offer ideas on how to safely hide all the awfulness?

How am I just seeing this in my feed and it's 10 months old? That bonus hack was an eye opener. New subscriber!

You are very clever and have a charming delivery (I find so many irritating voices on YT). You had me hanging onto every word! LOVE your application of the stained glass and lead line decals. ❤ Really great tips. That shower curtain under the peel & stick floor tile is genius (and you politely gave credit). YES on the “boob lights” being replaced. I’m a big fan of the battery candles. All mine have a wax coating to mimic real cables (as if…🤣) and I favor the ones with the flickering/moving flames and timers. 👍🏻 I set mine up in Oct as the nights get longer. Adds coziness! Wishing you continued success on YT. Thanks for your video. Well done!
