Just got home from a 2 week Panama Canal cruise. I enjoyed my cruise. Last day at sea we hit a good squall and the captain ordered people to their cabins. I helped several elderly folks down the stairs to their floor. Im planning another Panama Canal cruise for 2025. I didnt notice many kids which was nice.

We had travel insurance. Our flight was canceled by the airline, and we could not get a flight that night or the next day, so we missed the first 3 days of our cruise. We had to fly into Puerto Rico to meet the ship. The insurance company we used only paid us the money we paid for the policy, even though we had as our documents . Some insurance companies are a ripe off.

The only thing u would caution about travel insurance is don’t just think because you have travel insurance that you are medically covered for emergencies. I used to work as an underwriter & it’s EXTREMELY important for you to read the policy because not all policies are alike and everything is not always covered. You also will want to check with your regular health insurance to see if you are covered wherever you are traveling.

I often went on Spring Break cruises when I was younger. I was a teacher, so I was used to the kids. Now that I've been retired 8 years, I would never go on a Spring break cruise 😂. I also won't go on anything longer than a 4 or 5 day Carribean cruise during Hurricane Season. I figure if it has to get extended, it would only be about 7 days total. And lastly, my husband refused to cruise until October of 2022 and March of 2023. He didn't think he would like it and so our first one was a four-day, out of nearby Tampa, with our best friend couple and our second one was a 5-day with the same friends. He now likes cruising but not as much as I do. Unfortunately, our female friend passed away and I don't think that we'll go again, alone.

Celebrity Cruises caters to those who place a higher premium on food and shows. They tend to have very few children on them. It’s more like a spa experience. Royal and NCL have loads of kids.

All great points, J. I learned from experience on getting there the day before. My daughter and I went on a cruise in 2012, flew into Miami, left out of Ft. Lauderdale, which meant a bus ride. Well, a fellow passenger caused us to be leave the airport very late. We got on the cruise because we had a suite, everyone else in balcony and below (about 50 people) didn't get on their cruise because of this one passenger, who happened to have a suite and got on the cruise.

We have an upcoming Alaskan cruise this summer, and it will be my 8yo first cruise. She is so excited! I picked a cruise line with a lot of activities, and we are doing all the fun Alaskan excursions, whale watching, helicopter rides, renting a car and driving to the suspension bridge.

The one about getting to the port the day of is true, but I think it applies more to people flying in, driving from a long way (12+hr) away, or people driving in winter/inclement weather. I say that having driven from the Bay to long beach (5-6hr drive) 2x. I left around 3-4am, so if you're driving with a group of people, that might be an option.

Jay, this is a common misconception. Being medevac'd off a cruise ship by coast guards are not an item a person will pay for. Once on land and the coast guard has transferred you to medical personnel the expensive bills start.

I have never been on a cruise but me and my lady are thinking of a cruise for our 20th anniversary. Not sure if there's a best way, but start by thinking about your budget, where you'd wanna go & the things you'd wanna do on vacation/your cruise. Once you've narrowed that down, there's tons of videos of people doing reviews/walkthroughs of ships, people vlogging their cruise, from boarding, to food, activities & ports. And once you see ships/lines you're interested in, check pricing to see if it works for you. Hope that helps

@saucecastillo460 I've been doing my research. The budget isn't really the issue I know I'd want to have at least 5k sitting before I even think of booking anything. I'm starting to see a lil bit of difference on each boat per cruise line. I'm looking at royal Caribbean and virgin voyages.. I just wanted to see how much information I can really get on excursions and what's actual on each individual boat before I book anything. I do thank you for your information tho

You'd have to check to see what your insurance covers, or if there's a travel provision that would cover you. From what I understand, a PPO might cover you, but I doubt an HMO would

I particularly don’t care for these types of videos because I know all of these tips and have taken numerous cruises. That said I think these types of videos are good for your channel and for people doing there research. I will definitely watch them when you put them out because I don’t know everything about cruising and things change all the time so it’s nice to be informed of them since I can’t cruise every year much less multiple times a year.
