Love to hear about long term campers!! As a child my camping experience began with a trip from Johnstown PA to Ridgecrest CA!! We had a 15' Hi-Lo, slept 6!!! Mom and Dad, dinette, 2 canvas cots, 3 girls (2 head to toe in 1, youngest in one above mom and dad), baby in a canvas crib, small canvas cot with 4 canvas sides attached to cot above mom and dad on 1 end and sitting on the pantry cupboard on the other! PortaPotty under the forward seat, below the other canvas cot! Pulled by a 1960 BelAire Chevrolet!! 1964!! I've been camping ever since!!
@Seabee_Camper Жыл бұрын
WOW! Jan, you've got me beat. I started with my parents in 1972 or so in a 17' Monitor trailer. I remember it had a propane light on the wall (kinda like a Coleman lantern) that provided light and heat!
@janmoline Жыл бұрын
@Jim Thomas the HiLo had a propane furnace. It'd cook you out of that little trailer! Dad would hang a Coleman lantern under the roof vent, on the handle used to crank it open, and light and heat the trailer! Great memories! The Gateway Arch in St. Lois wasn't finished. We waded in creeks, swam in lakes, and "rode" horses (my uncle rode the horse and hung on to us) in the south and Midwest, and used a flattened cardboard box to slide down sand dunes in the southwest.

@austinrust I completely agree with you!! We travel do to our jobs. My husband knows about living in camper & 5th wheels. I’m about 3 almost 4 years into living majority of my life in our 5th wheel. I have so much to learn and he is learning more and more too. I love to learn from people who actually live the same life. I need a lot of help with space, organizing and redecorating. If you live in a camper full time it’s hard for me with space. I want to buy stuff but don’t have the room. Plus with our job we have to move very often

@Seabee_Camper Жыл бұрын
@@roberttaylor8261 Hi! I'm not sure I understand your question. The lights have both a motion and light sensor, so they won't come on even though the cabinet is dark. They also need to see some motion - either the cabinet door opening, or a hand entering the cabinet.

These are all great tips. I have a little bumper-mounted grille and I still could not get it to fire up very well off that connection. I also like the pantry lights - I will need to do some exploration to see what 12v sources we have near the pantry. One easy tip I'd add, especially for spacially-challenged campers, is get an over-the-door hook for the bathroom. It adds more space for towels and keeps the mess off the floor.

Thanks! Great tip about the over the door hook. There's never enough space for hanging towels.

I am having spinal surgery in May. I have buying a camper on my bucket list but I will wait until I’m healed. It hurts to put up with sciatic pain. Once the pain is gone I will look forward to camping. Right now I’m thinking I will want a small camper. I look forward to enjoying sitting outside around a campfire. I appreciate your video showing important things to buy. I will be camping mostly small thereby why I want a small camper that I will be able to tow. I want a small (micro) camper, one that has storage underneath. A bathroom with shower inside or outside. I kind of like the model with the kitchen outside with a pass through. I will save your recommendations and hopefully find them when I am ready to camp again. Oh and this will be my first time camping in a trailer. Before it was always tent camping.

I am female with rear king bed. Problem is came off track roof leaks and I have no choice but to live in this junk. But between being clostrohibic I really need those extra feet. Any suggestions? I was going to pull out and lean on horses is that going to work. Any advise for instructions would be so appreciated . Best cheapest materials flex seal okay for roof? I must do all alone so this is first experience little with painting but not fixing. This and is it possible to eliminate altogether and just make a permanent? Thank you for any advice . Saw show and look honest and knowledgeable is appreciated 😊
@Seabee_Camper9 ай бұрын
Hi Kathleen! It's hard to give exact advice without knowing what kind of RV you have and what type of slide mechanism. If thee camper is not going to move again, you can wrestle out the slide all the way and support the end sticking out with jacks/wood saw horses etc. (I'm assuming a Schwintek slide system from the way you describe it) Then you could seal the slide seams with flex seal or eternabond tape. This isn't exactly a factory fix, but it will work for an RV that will be stationary. If you plan to move , this obviously would only be a temporary fix.
