i just got maschine and since im so used to using a daw and working in a liniar way its a humbling experience trying to learn it lol your naming your parts is so true!
@QueMusiQ8 жыл бұрын
I'm 100 percent the other way. Went from being a vocalist to BAM! Got a maschine like 6 years ago for my birthday. I was messing with it for like a couple years before I got a DAW, and now I never go to the DAW for mixing. Time as I'm done making the music, I've already panned everything, have plugs on everything, and there's just no easy way to just export everything (I don't think) with everything not panned and not full of plug ins. Feel like there should be a button or something.
@jamilboricua8 жыл бұрын
QueMusiQ Try the VST version of IL Edison on you master output to track out your beat single instruments one by one or track out different patterns and import those patterns into Acid Pro for further manipulation of your audio files.
@QueMusiQ8 жыл бұрын
jamilboricua I mean, yeah, but it doesn't seem to add any functionality beyond Maschine. I've recently started learning how to better use studio one to make things easier. Like, make the beat in Maschine, then import Maschine into studio one later for mixing faster. I just need to create better preset templates that align with how I work.

I was exactly the same and now I struggle to go back to linear for a mix 😂

Thank you my friend for the great tips especially on the volume levels set for vst's. I follow a lot of what you mentioned just based on past experience. I'll work strictly in standalone and use Logic for mixing. Sticking with the same groove box is the best way to go. You get your money's worth and will be able to master all of the functions. I have an MPC Studio and I can crank out a banger pretty quickly just from knowing the software, menus, and button layouts.

What I found is that once I learned how to play the drums my beats concepts in mind came up. What I mean is that my ideas don't come across like beat boxing they're more adjacent to a live drummer. So what I did is I looked into how to enter and exit patterns like how a real drummer would do it. I've come to the conclusion that I'll buy a nice digital drum set or add triggers to a real drum set to put songs together for that not so perfect drummer sound cause there's something about that live players feel. Same goes for other instruments. I'm considering the EWI digital wind instrument too.

As a like 11th or 12th point... Do we find it's better to have multiple tracks at various stages of doneness, or to work through a set of tracks in parallel (create beats for all tracks, then go back through and put a scratch bassline on each, etc.), or to concentrate on one track solely until it's pretty much done?

Very informative. I subscribed. What DAW would you personally suggest for a Groovebox user? I have an AKAI MPC Touch. Almost listed it on Reverb when I saw that the Groovebox DAW isn't complete
@Altruwest5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for reaching out. I think your DAW choice has more to do with how you would like to manipulate the audio from your Groovebox and less to do with the audio source itself. I think if you're into automation of effects then you should look into Studio One or Ableton as you can do some really interesting things in both of those DAWs. If you're keeping it basic and just recording audio, you can do that with any DAW these days. I'd need to know a bit more about what you plan on doing with your DAW besides recording audio and mixing in order to provide more insights.

Yes, but with regards to board number 10 - when I did everything on groove box or hardware tools and start transferring all material to DAW, it turns out a completely different mix (song) .... Maybe not worse, but it's different, not like thought of when working with groove box ...
@JEFFMAN908 жыл бұрын
If you have a Maschine do you really need a DAW just for mixing? The Maschine 2 software has a mixer in it.
@Altruwest8 жыл бұрын
Yes you still need a DAW if you want to do a proper mix. Maschine does not have audio tracks, nor does it have plugin delay compensation nor full scale automation. You could create a great sounding track in Maschine with its internal plugins and processing, but ultimately if you plan to do a real mix, you should not rely on Maschine. Mixing plugins alone would create some delay issues and other problems. You should always mix with audio stems because its allows you to work with static content as opposed to dynamic content which can change based upon the CPU behavior.
@anxiousmindmusic7 жыл бұрын
Altruwest great answer. I 'pre-mix' in Maschine and waste a lot of time 😁

Yes as opposed to using it as a plugin within a DAW, learn how to use the standalone application first.

G[o]od Morning Jay! We appreciate those 10 keen insights, on groove machines (I'd argue that GrooveBox is likely a trademark belonging to Roland), but be careful that you try to utilize a pertinent device descriptor instead of a manufacturer's (e.g., Roland's) trademarked product line name, when you intend to convey a generic descriptor ( e.g., drum machine) in your otherwise, easy-on-the-ears tutorials you're creating and uploading here. That way, we're not distracted by the unnecessary GrooveBox GrooveBox GrooveBox GrooveBox GrooveBox GrooveBox GrooveBox GrooveBox GrooveBox GrooveBox GrooveBox GrooveBox GrooveBox redundancy in your generously informative tutes.😆 Blessings to you as you further refine this awesome channel. BigUps! -Pete
