fun fact: due to night vision using different cells to capture light information than daytime cells, we actually can't perceive colour in the dark and objects *do* appear less saturated as light levels decrease. Specifically they actually appear more blue, though overall colour sensitivity does decrease. The cells we use in the dark (rod cells) play little to no role in colour vision, so everything appears black and white. rod cells are also used in peripheral vision, and their density varies across the retina, with more in the centre and fewer towards the edges. this is what causes peripheral vision to be blurrier than regular vision, but also have less colour information!

i've said it before and i'll say it again: we need a mod that adds tides to minecraft oceans!! i wanna see waves breaking on the shore, with water that isn't confined to a block and can rise and fall over time! physics does a great job with the waves but it still kinda has that feeling of just being in a massive wave pool and not actually the ocean

Agreed. I rarely find a modpack that doesn't benefit from adding it. Keeps the vanilla look while making the game feel more alive. And games that feel alive are my favorite games. Hysteria is a surprisingly pretty shader its themed around horror, but everything is customizable I've got a really pretty sunset and blue moon using it. I think its underrated as a general use shader because it can easily be tweaked in the settings to fit any theme you want

Fun fact: The way that the circumnavigate mod makes the geometry of the world behave isn't like the geometry on a sphere, it's actually like the geometry on a torus (donut shape). This is the same as in top down arcade games like Asteroids, where going off the top of the screen wraps you around to the bottom, and going of the right of screens wraps around to the left.
