I have a few myself as a beginner or early on my guitar journey I believed these dumb things ten years later that's completely changed though. 1. Fingerpicking is easy and simple to do and pick up. Quickly learned my lesson from Tommy Emmanuel and Linsey Buckingham and many old school Delta blues guys, that style is very difficult and way harder than it looks 2. Blues is easy to play and simple, absolutely not true it's not just 3 chords and 12 bars, You have to be able to improvise and do it really well which is a skill in of itself and it's a genre with it's own vocabulary, rhythms inflections etc and you equally have to be a really good rhythm player and know some pretty complex chords and harmony to exist in that genre. Finally keeping in time consistently seems easy but way harder than it looks, if you try to keep time to a track or song with different parts for 5 or more minutes it's much harder than you think and takes a lot of practice and focus.

“Only amateurs use a capo” seems wild to me - there are chord voicings you can’t get without a capo. If you need to play in a key to fit other instruments or the singer, a capo seems like a very useful approach

Yeah I know. Nowadays I use capo whenever I feel like it. But when you're a teen and you want blend in, you believe bunch of bs just to be part of the group haha.

Luckily I'm old enough that that stupid debate wasn't really a thing back then. ;D

This is why I don’t watch my old videos. Even my videos from this week are embarrassing. Thankfully, I’m a guitarist, so I have an over inflated sense of ego 😂

Bass is a completely different animal. Completely different techniques are required Or you’ll sound like a guitar player playing bass.
