christine paris aww, I have a golden retriever. She may not be one of the most expensive dogs but I wouldn't give her up for 1 billion dollars. She sleeps on my bed every night and snuggles up to me, if my parents try to take her away she will just come closer to me. I luv her so much. I got her a few years ago for my 10th birthday and we go everywhere together. I take her for long walks thru the countryside and let her off the lead and we play for hours, before I do any of my homework. I would die for her. I trust her because I know if anybody comes up to me when I'm with her, and they try to hurt me, she will bark and bite and chase them away.

Little_Pixie_ I have an adopted cavalier and he is about 7 and a half years old and he hasn't had anything bad happen yet he has had a few ear infections but we give him ear drops for a couple days and It clears up there very very good dogs they do shed a lot but you can't really do anything about that but if you take your dog to the vet regularly and don't let him get over weight then he/she will live a long happy life

She isn't talking about back yard breeder dogs. She is talking about dogs bred from show breeders. Their pedigrees are what makes them expensive. Show breeders are the ones who do the DNA testing to clear out any genetic diseases that are known in that particular breed, and they breed to the AKC show "standard" The health of the dog is the most important thing when you pay that kind of money.

The people referred to in this blurb are both rich and spoilt and have no comprehension of what being poor (or middle class) is, and having to live pay check to pay check, and the only reason they buy these dogs is to show off and be "fashionable". The trouble is if the breed goes out of fashion like clothes they usually get rid of that particular breed and go for the next fashionable one. Also pure breds usually have many many health problems and cost their owners a damn fortune in Vet bills, so by getting a mutt or one from a shelter (sometimes u are lucky and obtain a good pure breed from a shelter) actually saves us "poor" people a lot of money - so in effect we have the last laugh. Actually i prefer mutts or cross breeds because they have more character and are very very loyal and are much hardier. 🐕🐕🇦🇺🇦🇺

I actually own four Rottweilers. Our male, Dozer is an East German rough-coat rottie and his dad, my Aunt's Rottweiler Dakota, was brought straight from Germany and he's a rough coat as well. From what I know, I think she paid around $3,000 for him. Dozer is definitely a big teddy bear and a big gentle giant too. However, he was trained as a service animal by my dad, who's a certified trainer, and is extremely protective of us too. We have one female Rottweiler, Maya, who has a Yugoslavian bloodline. Our oldest, Cherokee, is a big goofball and is Dozer's biological half-sister since Dakota sired them both. Alana, our third female is a rescue and we know very little about her bloodline other than she has a strong one because of her markings being a dark mahogany. She has a litter of six to seven puppies as of now and she's definitely a great mom so far too. So, far we have had no major troubles with our Rottweilers healthwise and also with their training despite the occasional hardheadedness and lack of focus. So, I'm glad that we ended up with such a great bloodline that's for sure and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Wow, your prices are insane. You can get a well bred Akita for $1200-2000 A well bred Rott can bring around $1500-2500 depending on bloodlines. Maybe 6k for an imported one. German Shepherds from reputable breeders run anywhere from $1200-3000 (we have one and so does my mom, my cousin and my best friend) (I've had all the dogs mentioned above) I've also had a Tibetan Mastiff. Samoyeds go for about $2500 from a reputable breeder. A friend had one when we were kids. In all honesty you don't need to be rich to own more than half these breeds. You will spend more on an amazingly awesome well bred Labrador that is started in hunting than any of these dogs listed above.

my German Shepard was super cheap. There was a bunch of pups (German Shepard and lab mix) and so we took 2, bc they were all gonna be put down the next day. Smokey (the one we still have left bc the other was really sick we had to give her to a vet owner to keep) definitely has all the German Shepard features.
