In your opinion, how comfortable are 12 of them in a 125 (I assume 6 foot tank)? I'm asking because I am setting up a 120 gallon 5 footer (60x18x25) and am trying to find out if I can do a small front colony in that (like 4-6 fish). I don't want to end up in a position where I need a bigger tank because they outgrow it.

Do you deal with a lot of aggression with frontosia? I’ve heard they’re less aggressive than most cichlids
@r3goode4 ай бұрын
Every case in different. So far I’ve had to sell off 4 alphas. The aggression just transfers to the next one. This is why he says a minimum of 6. You’re better off buying 12-15 juvies though so you can rehome all the psychos (and there WILL be psychos) and figure out who can coexist peacefully.

hello I have a vital question, with which I must debate all the time with the salesmen aquarist neophyte and. All said not to feed the bloodworms frontosaavwc, as this would give them intestinal worms. So yes or no . or is there a specific way to feed?
@KGcichlids4 жыл бұрын
Frozen blood worms won’t give them intestinal worms, more than likely they already have them, most fish do and need a deworming medication just like a dog or cat would need. General cure from api works great for that.

ok super it reassures me, because I did not understand that on me say the opposite, while I have always given it to my chiclids. Thank you for the info and thank you for this video which is very informative. And thanks for the advice for the medicine.

A few years ago I purchased what a pet store told me was a convict to add to my DWARF cichlid 55 gallon tank. Needless to say, Bruce is one of just 3 fish left and I only found out he's a Frontosa today!! All this time I just thought I had a monster convict. There is also a clown loach and a Kenyi Cichlid in the tank. They of course hide all the time, I feel so bad. Bruce (pretty sure he's a girl tho) is about 9-10 inches long. How big do they get and will he/she stay content in my 55? Should i re-home the Kenyi or since it's been a few years just let them be? I just feel bad if the Kenyi needs more swimming room without fear of murder. He gets his licks in though, Bruce has a few scars around the lips. Any advance you can give would be greatly appreciated.
@KGcichlids5 жыл бұрын
I would try and get at least a 125 gallon for a frontosa that size, females get around the 12 inch mark, I’m sure you could keep her in a 55 gallon by herself as long as maintenance is kept up. It’ll be like a wet pet 🙂 but for me bigger is always better.

depends on the age and if its a female because she could be holding (eggs/fry) also try not feeding for a few days and see if he eats, if not I would treat the tank for parasites.
