I always loved the phaser effect on Have A Cigar but Sheep off of Floyd’s _Animals_ has a really cool phaser during the intro and breakdown section before the bridge

A Phase 90 set around 9 o'clock sounds glorious on bass

Agreed, that’s my go-to setting for my MXR Phase 90 for my guitar and it works just as well with bass. Definitely the sweet spot for that pedal

Hey Paul, what’s the theory behind sting’s tuning?
@PaulDelBelloYT2 жыл бұрын
not sure i get the question. Sting used a regular tuning pretty much all the time
@brutalbasspro2 жыл бұрын
You say E Ab D G is the tuning there was another tuning I saw a B in there threw me off.
@andrewframe51652 жыл бұрын
@@PaulDelBelloYT basically what mr. Marcus is saying below there, was that tuning of EAbDG a typo or are those tunings accurate?
@PaulDelBelloYT2 жыл бұрын
Got it now. there's a typo in the video. Sting's tuning is regular E A D G !

I think waiting for an alibi is a flanger, but can be both, it's a sutile difference
@Klaus808042 жыл бұрын
He said so: And sometimes I used a flanger. I've gone off using it now, but I used to use a flanger on the bass, just to give it that bit of top without it being clacky.
@alexskibicki22622 жыл бұрын
Cool demo, Paul.😎🤘🏻🎸even though I’m more of a flanger kind of guy, these bass lines sounded pretty cool with phaser.

With your Cheap Trick inspiried shirt design, I am always surprised that you don't have any videos about how much Tom Petersson rules. Get a 12 string or a Tbird!

It's cool seeing you use the Donner pedals. I'm considering getting the phaser after watching this video. Anyone have any feedback regarding this pedal?
@Klaus808042 жыл бұрын
As far as I can tell, he uses a (Donner) pedal here that can emulate various modulation pedals such as chorus, flanger, phaser, etc. The downside, it is digital. I would still recommend the MXR Phase 90. It is simply the classic pedal that sure is used by most pros mentioned here in the samples.
@johnbehan15262 жыл бұрын
Ok there's a couple in here where I was like "was that really a phaser?" But the cover still sounds great, and certainly a couple (like the Sting and O'Jays riffs) where I thought "oh yeah, of course, cool". Time to get my phaser out of it's box, I think...

Magnum Opus by Kansas and Caravan by Rush have some cool phaser bass parts
@kellymarcott56322 жыл бұрын
Your videos are great. With all due respect, I believe that "I don't Remember " by Tony Levin is using a touch wah, rather then a phaser.

It’s true he’s a piece of shit, not even just from a political standpoint depending on what your views are. He consistently underpaid the rest of the band when he was making millions. He also took all song writing credit when the rest of his band actually helped out a lot. That debut album is without a doubt fantastic, separate art from artist and know that it wasn’t just Ted that made that album.
