It was great to wake up to this video and see all your beautiful plants and your excitement. I'm fighting this crazy weather in Oklahoma (either rainy or cold mornings). My plants are a little confused so like you I will have faith in our Lord for his help and patience for me. Thanks again.

Thanks for the motivation. Just finished raining(we needed it). Going out to plant 6 more flats of peppers. If I have the time and the ground dries enough (will have to go some tilling) I will putt 98 tomatoes,about the same eggplant and basil. If I have any room left I will plant lots of varieties of squash, watermelon,cantaloupe,cukesand sweet potatoes. If I don't have enough room in my garden I think I left enough room in my neighbors garden

Perfect growing environment. Israel uses the same concept which is perfect for their climate. I live in the same growing zone and I am blown away at the productivity and health of the plants considering the obstacles we face growing anything in our hot and humid climate. This is a very wise investment for the coming weather changes.

I broke the homestead activities into individual projects. We started with a garden, which took a few hand tools and a hose and some seeds. Seeds can be saved and the seeds can come from the Dollar general at 50 cents a pack but you need seeds to start with. The first year we broke even on the garden BUT by the next year the tools and such had been paid for and we had a lot of half-packs of seeds so the expenses were decreased. The next year I took what we did NOT have to spend on the garden and I bought a fruit tree. As each homesteading project produced we took the savings from that project and got more trees, building material for a home made greenhouse, a tiller, etc. When you look at cash money we ended up spending as much as everybody else because a greenhouse CAN be expensive! Though, I have enough experience now to make one that is far cheaper. Also, everybody spends money on fun and, for me, I find working on my land to be more entertaining than going to the movies and ordering popcorn and a soda. And, so, I have the tiller, the greenhouse, and now that I am older I also have the raised beds because my back is not as strong as it was when I was 20. And we eat like kings with berries and fresh eggs and such
@kansasterri59774 жыл бұрын
I forgot to add: as the food bill started to drop a bit I added that to the money I could spend on the next homesteading project. My reward was to eat things that would cost a LOT if we bought the ingredients from ths store, such as blackberry cobbler and fresh sweetened cherries on top of the store-bought vanilla ice cream

Your homestead is so blessed !!! You both "really" do love gardening, canning, farming and raising food. We can hear it in your voice's and the look on your face's. So wish we could get a big high tunnel/green house. like your's. We're working building one out of pallet's, cattle panel's and plastic. God willing it will be done by the end of Aug. so I can get some fall stuff in it. Our weather here in northern MI has been COLD most of the time. Couldn't put any thing outside yet it would freeze. So enjoy watching and learning from you. Stay safe and healthy. God bless and protect you both.

This greenhouse tour is one of my favorite of your videos so far, I'm glad Wanda mentioned the date you guys were recording this, that's always helpful to me when you mention the temperatures in morning being 40s and 50s. Thanks for sharing your experience. I grabbed a pad and pen this time! I just started using Dr Earth this year and love it except for some reason critters love it too and got some of my plants - rather my seedling plants in pots while they were trying to eat the fertilizer they knocked over my plant and left it but munched up dirt and fertilizer where I had sprinkled on top of the potting soil. I had watered in but maybe I should cover it with more potting soil to hide it from the critters.
@ghk31044 жыл бұрын
I'm happy to see your using organic fertilizer in the greenhouse. I have liked organic for years. I also use Epsom salts on my plants for magnesium. I was told that we don't get enough magnesium in our diet because the use of synthetic fertilizers and other chemicals on the fields has depleted the magnesium. Magnesium is good for heart and muscles. My husband and I take a magnesium supplement, magnesium citrate in powder form.. Great stuff!

greenhouses are addicting, you always need more room cause they fill up fast. Even my tomatoes in my grow frame are doing twice as good as the ones planted in the garden. The shade cloth covering without the poly still helps keep the down pours from beating them up.

Hi guys I've watched a few of your greenhouse videos and things look great, but I haven't been able to determine why you chose this style of greenhouse and I know you already had one because i watched videos on it a long time ago. I finally have the financial resources to get my own greenhouse going and I'm trying to determine which type i want to go. I had always thought I would go the corrugated panels vs plastic because I thought they would last,much much longer (unless hail or tornado) and was concerned about having to replace plastic every 3 to 5 years. I admire your experience and appreciate your heart to share with others! Thank you so much!
