While Inmotion *has* used headlights with a dipped beam cutoff, when using such a headlight with a vehicle that tilts under normal operation you *NEED* automatic headlight leveling. This would be trivial for the manufacturer to implement as the wheel already knows the angle it is tiled, it only needs a way to use this to level the headlight.

On the turn signals. I use the good 'ole hand signals when riding my EUC in traffic, turning at stoplights, lane-changing, etc. I have Guardian Angel lights strapped to each wrist, and turn them on when in tighter traffic so that both me and my signals are easily seen. Arm straight out for left, Arm in "L" shape pointing up for right. This is universal all over the world. The default settings be rideable out of box for example side angle lean to 65 degrees. Pwm to 80%. Tiltback on. Basics that would keep people from cutting out who don't know how to set a wheel up or what settings to pick. Other things I'd change is sharp sides on pedals that scrap the skin off your ankle bone if your foot misses the pedal. Or risk of it cutting us in a crash. 2 of my wheels have sharp sidded pedals and ouch I've been skinned several times by both. I'm really lucky apparently because I've had a flat Tyre almost every ride ive been on. on every wheel. New tyres new tubes different wheels put together by others, yip another flat. I slime all my wheels but still get flats, blow out at speed was valve failure lucky I stayed on. Had several valve instant failures.Bring on airless or no puncher tires. Variable charger for those on low power solar. 12v systems usually can charge up to 3 Amp wheel. More than 3 amps is kinda going into 24v solar systems which cost more to build. Hence I'd like chargers with more options. Tail light should be red. And more red for breaking.

I'm with you on the turning signals. In fact, I think we could use a full set of proper lights and horns built-in to our devices. I have had to modify aftermarket bicycle turning signals (not motorcycle ones) onto my backpack, but that only signals behind me. I also bought an aftermarket bicycle horn, but had to mount it inside of my DIY raised seat. If we ever want EUCs to be street legal, they will need horns, turning signals (front and back), AND unique vehicle identification numbers (mounted on more than just the motor, like the Shermans) in order to be registered in the United States (as far as I know). The EUC field has grown so much along the lines of performance. I wonder what it would be like for the field to develop further into vehicular practicality.

I agree wholeheartedly. I highly doubt we will ever see warranty's cover water damage though. The e-scooter industry at least has been pretty good about doing IP ratings for the most part, but there isn't a single manufacturer on Earth that covers water damage. I wouldn't really care for the charger to be on the EUC. I would just haul it around if I needed it (that would be rare.) Having the charger separate is nice so that you can charge different wheels with the same charger if one of your chargers dies. (especially if they add the ability to change the amperage on the charger.) I'm torn on the light cutoff, since I personally like to tilt my pedals, so the light needs to be adjustable if they do add a cutoff.

{Another TL;DR... unless you're familiar with my style.} IMO, only entry-level EUCs should come with chargers when new (2 amps is fine). All other advanced EUCs should come WITHOUT pads, WITHOUT pedals, WITHOUT battery-charger, WITHOUT tire and WITHOUT shocks; this way each wheels can be made to maximize the aftermarket variety of upgrades possible, and so that high-quality aftermarket modular components can be switched from one wheel to another. I don't 'need' 5-6 wheel specific items that are not interchangeable, I need LESS proprietary parts and LESS redundancy between models. An 'auxiliary' glove-box built into the seat/trolley-handle mechanism that could carry either an plug-n-play additional battery, custom charger, blue-tooth speaker or lunch-box would be suitable for the aftermarket manufacturers if the "hook-ups" were provided with a consistent design across both models and manufacturers. {It's pathetic that we now have multiple pedal-hanger designs that are not interchangeable; just like there are universal connectors bikes, cars or computers greater interoperability could be a factor in encouraging market growth rather than petty feudal turf wars among manufactures.} Leaving the decision (of which charger to buy) up to the rider encourages variable-voltage, variable-current and inverter options, which are currently unreasonable to request from manufacturers. For example, sometimes I want more contiguous range (so I'll use an extra battery that day)... sometimes I want to charge at my halfway point (so I'll bring my charger)... but other times I need remote AC 120V power for operating tools at my community garden plot (so I want an Inverter feature on these occasions)... or, for back-country camping, I might want a foldable solar panel to slow-charge while I fish or hike... then bring out my induction burner stove to 'cook my catch' or just boil a pot of tea. Many of these possible utility functions will become more viable as the EUC PEV comes to dominate the personal transportation sector, so having a priority list for implementation would be a good way for the community to vote upon its preferences. My first priority is a much better crash suit to make accidents less painful, then an EUC powered Rickshaw trailer so I can bring two friends/cargo/pets/canoe/camping supplies on trips that might otherwise require a car... this will be inevitable as ICE/Electric cars become even more unaffordable/practical over time and is practical NOW across the Global South. {Hint: EUC manufacturers need to prepare for the collapse of Western economies, which is an ongoing process; financial 'optionality', production 'decentralization' and utility 'diversification' within the EUC niche are methods that should be strategically considered... but those are deeper issues that beyond the incremental product improvements that we all look forward to.}

You have started checking braking distance which is good and EUCs seem to be pretty good. However, you have mentioned that braking is done with regen, using the batteries as the load and that the wheel sometimes fails if the battery is already fully charged. I am shocked that this is so. It seems EUCs do not have the simplest "dump load" (AKA big resister) for use when braking and the battery is fully charged. This is really old technology that wind generators have used since almost the beginning of DIY wind generation. Having the possibility of brakes failing just because the battery is fully charged or damaging the battery would, if I was making the list be number 1 "fix this". The fix is cheap, a resister and a relay (electronic probably for the voltage) and some software. This reminds me of early Windows with no shutdown (Why would you ever want to shut it down?)
@monowheeling Жыл бұрын
While it is a common belief, I don't think EUCs brake _only_ with regen, I think it depends. That is, you probably could do a very abrupt emergency brake on full battery if there is no notable regen phase at the beginning. I am not aware that anyone tried this yet, so we can't know for sure.

My answer, sir, in collaboration with Chat GPT for polish. Could you kindly ask the AI (perhaps GPT-4) to explain, in straightforward Polish, the meaning of their app parameters and the potential impact of adjusting them? Considering the idea of a quick battery change-out, it might be beneficial to have lighter battery packs in larger quantities. This way, the overall riding weight could be reduced without compromising the range. Additional batteries, for longer journeys, could be conveniently carried in a Boblbee backpack. Conversely, for short trips like going to a nearby shop, leaving the extra weight at home would be an option. This approach not only decreases the entry cost for EUC riding but also fosters brand loyalty. With fewer batteries, the overall cost is reduced. To accommodate smaller batteries, incorporating supercapacitors in parallel would be necessary to absorb surge currents during hard braking, which is desirable in any case. Looking ahead, envisioning the integration of the wheel into the undercarriage of a mass-produced glider could provide the pilot with ground transport. Batteries could be detached for charging, aligning with a more efficient and cost-effective approach. In the current landscape, glider manufacturing is often costly and labor-intensive, reminiscent of a bygone era. It might be time for the industry to embrace more automated and streamlined processes, as pioneered by Henry Ford over a century ago.

LS2 MX701 Explorer carbon. Tested in -6 celsius, not cold at all. Pinlock must have. Could be a better visibility down as on LS2 Pioneer Evo, but its ok. Airoh Commander have one big disadvantage, as they only comming in 2 shell sizes. So if your head is M then ok, but if L, you'll need to have XXL buckle on the head

I would like for EUC to slow down once reached max speed instead of cut outs. Like e-scooters once you reach a max speed they slow down. A EUC simply cutting off once it is over power is not safe especially since it is one wheel.
@monowheeling Жыл бұрын
EUC don't simply cut off at max speed, they "just" run out of torque. If the tiltback is set properly, they slow down instead. It's just not considered cool, so you will rarely see this on KZbin. If people want to ride at the speed limit of the motor, they necessarily ride with very low excess torque and even an acceleration that feels moderate may overtorque the motor and this is what many people call cutout. It's a physical limitation that is only preventable by riding at lower speeds / setting the tiltback speed to a lower value.

Easy change battery packs. Optional aftermarket additional battery. Industry standard sizes woukd be great. Better screens ( much oref my v12 screen to my s22) I dont want a built in charger, its heavy, user preferences would be lost, and my euc takes a beating. That said, a wheel designed fir commuters with a large wheel, reasonable batreries, decent lifhts and soeaker system, why not chuck a charger in. Though for a race wheel, jumps, trail riding, tricks , no extra weight / things to break. Better conections for sure, and better thought out locations (looking at you s22 designer) for charging ports. Adjustable light settings like on the v12, but with auto tilt, as the euc is already tracking angle, this shoukdnt be too hard. I love the super bright s22 lights, for night rides away from traffic..... on the street or with friends, a bit much... iff riad at night WINNING! Having tge ability to change to suit riding conditions would be awesome! Better energency braking! How i dont know, i would like to be able to stop quicker, please! Decent quality build / fit. My s22 had hollow bolts nade of crap metal. The suspension seems to be not fitted / sized correctly. WATERPROOFING a hate not being able to ride in the wet. I euc to work, i need it to be reliable in all weathers! I use my eucs as my transport. Riding daily, over mixed terrain. They currently seen to be expensive wheel toys rather than true transports. Until this attitude changes, we wont get these upgrades.

No charger in the wheel please, ffs :) Another thing that can break, another thing that would need to exhaust heat, undoing waterproofing. So no, euc companies we do not need that!

Higher seats for taller riders and more comfortable seat cushions. Most EUC seats are for person 5'8 and shorter and riding 4+ miles is not very comfortable

LMAO Adam. Obviously your fender concept goes 180 against off-road use. I've removed fenders from my S18, S20/S22pro'ish, and Extreme for such knobbies. Think of Mx bikes with fenders so far away from the big knobby tires. ;)

As you were mentioning different plugs and isolation. The main problem seems to be that on some wheels there is tension on the male connectors. That should _never ever_ be the case with a power connector that has 30+Volt. It's really really poor engineering. You wouldn't need to worry about the plug type if the wheel had a diode preventing the power receiving male plug on the wheel to be hot.

A built in charger is a stupid idea. You think youll get a 1h charger that weigths 1kg built in? LOL. A 2-3kW PSU weigth a few kg, is big AF and costs a ton. And a 5W charger is useless. If anything an EUC could have some sort of a cargo carying solution, and there you go - you can slap any charger you desire, even one that can destroy your wheel just plug it in to sufficient power (like a car charging spot or 3 phase power)

i agree with some things and disagree with others. putting a charger IN THE WHEEL is a horrible idea in my opinion. the wheel would have to be SOOOOO big and SOOOOO heavy with a lot less performance and cost a lot more just to take something out of your backpack which is only in the backpack rarely. chargers, lights, and tire changes are all fine and don’t have to be changed but it would be nice
@mr_wrongway Жыл бұрын
Thanks for you input! My charger for the SS weighs 600 grams and it’s about 15x8cm with the outside case. We could put them in seats or elsewhere, I’d like to see an execution of this idea! Thanks for your comment :)

@@mr_wrongway I'd be willing to guess that many of the components in the charge-inverter are redundant if integrated into the control board, which could likely reduce the extra weight by half or more.
