First time viewer here, not bad and good choices. Most especially the tea olive. Very flagrant. I also incorporated sweet almond bush and night blooming jasmine in our yard. Both very fragrant.

My Daphne and Clethra are two of my favorites - they do smell amazing. I have a lilac from the north that I can't give up but it always has powdery mildew by late summer. Guess I need to try Miss Kim. Growing up in the north, lilac was my favorite fragrant shrub.

This humidity definitely works on Lilacs down here.

I get decent results with old fashioned lilac in zone 7. I keep them at about 5 ir 6 feet.

I had a huge star magnolia on one of my properties and it bloomed like crazy early spring. However, I didn’t find it super fragrant. You can smell a bit if you stick your nose in the flower The most fragrant flower that releases a lot of scent is midnight scented stock

Whe're can I get seeds for these & would they thrive in the tropics?
@anitahadley28715 жыл бұрын
We just started to reshape the flower beds in the backyard. I love being able to get so much info from your videos. First I need evergreens. The only one I have on this side of the yard is a rhododendron. Which I had to prune hard a couple of years ago. It had spaghetti limbs when we moved here. Filling out nicely now! I have some loropetalums that I want to move over that I shaped into tree forms. Do they have a big root system? I don’t want it impeding on the irrigation pipes.
@JimPutnam5 жыл бұрын
They are actually pretty easy to move, but you will want to cut them back some at the same time.

Do the gardenias like full sun or shade? Thanks :)
@JimPutnam5 жыл бұрын
They can take a lot more sun in zone 7, but more shade further south

You should do a video on plants that are also edible, not like blueberries or fruit trees but actual regular plants that have edible flowers and foliage. I want beautiful plants in my yard but i also want the option of being abke to nibble on them every once in awhile if I feel like it.

It would be a great choice on a foundation.
