Curved leaf ligustrum does NOT do well in the south if we have a freeze at all. I planted 43 of them along my fence line and lost them all durring a 3 day winter freeze in Tennessee.

I'm here because my entire hedge of Ligustrum was wiped out by the Great Winter Storm of 2021 we had in Texas. First a pandemic and then a freak storm...I'm keepin an eye on my first born!

Ligustrum (we have swift creek) are insanely fast growing and heat/sun tolerant! It's one of the few plants we have that has to be cut back EVERY year. The best part is they don't even care! They just come right back the next spring!

Hey Jim, Do you have any suggestion of a tall but narrow screening tree to go between a north facing wood line and a driveway? This area has about 4 ft of planting room width and is a strip about 90ft long. I live in zone 8B in south Alabama. I recently planted some Emerald Green Arborvitae to put there but after watching several of your videos I am realizing that I may have made a costly mistake due to the area I live in. I want something that isn't going to take over my driveway and require cutting back every year. Thanks

Thank you for the video I have been watching all of them in desperate need for fastest growing evergreen hedge like plant that can grow relatively decently in 4 hours of sun that will keep its leaves during winter. So much to consider to make the best decision and your videos the last year I been watching have been very helpful thank you still have not decided 🤣

This series is awesome! The camelias here in NC are so beautiful. Would you be able to mention if any of these screening plants are/aren't a good choice for hurricane prone areas? We have a 1/2 acre here in Rocky Point (outside of Wilmington) and are planning to put up some screening plants, but also want to be cognizant of things that might easily blow over. Thank you! :)

Need advice for which evergreen screening shrubs might tolerate juglones. I recently learned the hickory produces some juglones, and I have been trying to grow various shrubs near it (3 different ones so far), but they tend to die within 6-8 weeks. This is over a 3 year period, with various seasonal conditions. Does the hickory actually produce enough juglones to be causing this? My shrub successes are so good in other parts of my woodland gardens. Please advise. Thanks again.

Thx so much. I saved this one as a reference. It would be great if you could mention flood tolerance. Southeast MO near the AR line and we often get waterlogged. The only really dry time is late summer.
