Grace, this list is straight GAME!!! Between all of these, or even just using one or two of them regularly, do you see any reason to use a paid version of Ahrefs over these??

Great question! It really depends on the project needs, the paid version always gives more features and data e.g. KW rank tracking, audit, and Ahref does particularly well in backlink analysis/tracking. I see it best fits for a heavy user who needs to manage multiple websites’ SEO or large website SEO (i.e. lots of content) which need to scale things up in a more efficient way. Hope that helps!

Welcome Ted! I would say they’re all useful depending on the data source you want, and an audience told me that Hoth is now gating the tool where you need to sign up to access, but it’s still a great tool.

​@@graceleungylMeaning it's becoming a paid tool? Also, have you used Keyword sheeter before? Great for generating all kinds of alphabet soup google results for a particular keyword. Your video was very helpful!

I think it’s still free, just you need to register the account to use. For Keyword sheeter, I have also used that, it’s good for brainstorming, but since it doesn’t provide volume data, so always needs to do manual checking or using together with a tool.

For iOS, pretty sure it's not supported... 🙁 There *_may_* *_be_* a chance that Android can support but you need to double check which browser. And my POV is it also comes down to which specific extension as you may not able to get the same experience as on desktop.

Ahrefs, SEMRush, Google Ads, Surfer they all offer APIs, Google Trends doesn't offer API as long as I am aware of.

They are all great tools, so there is no such "my best favourite free tool". I use all of them depends on my KW research needs / project needs, e.g. initial broad topic research vs in depth long-tail KWs, and sometime you need a mix of these tools to validate your findings. Hope this helps :)

If you tried creating the account without creating campaign? There should be a link saying like "Skip campaign creation" or "Create an account without a campaign". If it still prompts you to enter payment details, you may need to multiple times to trigger that. Hope that helps!
