Great presentation of scientific truths instead of the misnomer "Pure Bred"... all cats are Mixed Breeds like Humans! TRUST the Genetics over the word or papers claiming a cat is "Pure Bred" as it only means two dominant cat breeds make look more like what the standards dictate! ....if spending BIG DOLLARS on a pet.. get this Genetic Test so you can make sure the cat is not so inbred they'll have heart problems, dysplasia, or multiple toes... which have been turned into a Good Trait in MC Cats for Snowshoe like paws! ...Truth? doesn't make polydactyl cats any better in snow and in REALITY? Most are house cats anyway of a Natural Breed that should be hunting mice out in your barn!!!

Our neighbor had a small tortoiseshell cat and her babies from a large stray white and orange tabby male turned out to be another small female tortoiseshell, large white and orange tabby female, large white and orange tabby male (we took him), and a small pure orange tabby male (we took him, too). The boys were inseparable and had good long lives. Interesting how the two who most looked like their sire were his size and the other two where the size of their mother and followed the listed genetic types in this video.

They say cats are only bred for their looks but…I’ve often considered breeding cats based on their sociability or ability to mimick/solve environmental puzzles or play = train. Basically, give them a bit of a helpful nudge in claiming true sapience -they’re nearly there already. They adjust their vocalization frequency in response to us, and they develop an actual Pidgin to communicate with humans and other animals but mostly humans-
@enjoyslearningandtravel79572 жыл бұрын
Yes sociability is important. I raised five kittens for the Animal league that someone abandoned and although they had the same amount of friendly handling most of the kittens were outgoing and two were shy and were scared of noises and less exploring. Of course all of them were fixed later but if you were to breed cats for sociability I would breed for the ones that were born less shy because although one that I kept that is shy is is friendly to me and other strangers but more shy of strange noises in exploring new places and the outgoing one always stayed outgoing and not as afraid of noises and exploring.

Why are there cats with very short legs? Have they been bred for having short legs?
@ThePurringJournal3 жыл бұрын
Yes, they are called Munchkin cats! 😺
@hesherette3 жыл бұрын
Yes humans breed the cats with genetic mutations similar to dwarfism. Most pedigree cat associations across the world refuse to recognize munchkin cats due to the unknown welfare of the breed + possible health issues (ie that its cruel to breed these animals for looks when they may likely have potential spinal, chest, bone problems).

This video encompasses a lot of traits from my cat's mom and dad on through all of her kittens. The focus of this is Spectre. He is my white cat with heterochromia iridium trait. His daddy is a white cat like he is, except he has 2 blue eyes and he has unimpaired hearing, according to my vet. His mommy is a calico. The main part of her body is orange tiger, but she also has large patches of brown tiger in her, and then white feet and throat. Spectre's mother has had many kittens in her lifetime. Among them, she has had 3 orange tigers, all of them male. She had a gray tiger with white feet, also male. All of her brown tiger babies were female except 2 of them, both of which had white feet and throats. She has had 2 of them that were black, one male, one female. She also had 2 white ones (one of which was Spectre), with the other one having blue eyes and being a female. But Stella had one of them that was a chimera. She was similar to a tortoiseshell, but rather than it being a brown tiger/orange tiger mottle, it was a gray timer/orange tiger mottle, but she had an orange tiger face and a gray tiger face. Both of her eyes were green, which I expected, considering it was a gray tiger tomcat that sired her. All of her babies were either short hairs or medium hairs. She was a shorthair, and it seemed like the density of the kittens' coats were determined by the father in every case.
