The graphics were a slam dunk and the story was absolutly fantastic. But people often missconstrue the good storytelling with good gameplay. the skill system wasabsolutly garbage. @@Holidayseason38 Connor was the best character in this game, not gonna lie. Marcus' story is kinda generic...like he gets lost after being dismantled, dumped in an area, and then joins in a revolution against humans. Connor is the most interesting character, with each of his choices leading to an extremely interesting story, ngl. Kara's story was absolutely wonderful almost all the time, with how she became like a mother-figure to Alice, but when Alice turned out to be another generic android model, that's where her story got ruined for me. It's almost like the devs just wanted to fuck around with the story, and just slap anything which would they thought would fit in there, and luckily, Connor and Marcus were NOT ruined because of this.

I'd also include Stray in this category. The world building, the atmosphere and the story of this game are all fantastic. But the gameplay is very limited. Exploration is extremely restricted (in a game where you control a cat!), and the puzzle/action sequences feel generic and tacked-on. The clunky controls also don't help. It makes you wonder whether the developers spent all their effort and money on the fascinating city environment, and then noticed "oh, we also have to build a game in it".

Same with me for Callisto Protocol. I had been watching the bare bones version for awhile, but I almost never buy new games unless it's from a trusted and beloved franchise. But yep, they dropped the digital deluxe version with absolutely all the DLC for less than $20 on me awhile ago right when I ran out of games to replay, and I had to do it. I enjoyed it well enough, but I am very glad I didn't pay full price for it. Very short, and the enemies were insanely repetitive. Nice for meditative game play, though.

Next video idea: 10 games that chose GAMEPLAY over GRAPHICS.
@milodoiing22806 ай бұрын
Yep. I suggested same thing. I think undertale would probably be on that list. In fact some low graphics RPG are always fun like the final fantasy pixel remasters.

ids Rage was definitely an example of Graphics over Gameplay. It was pretty when it came out, but it was short and shallow as an experience.

@gameranx can you make a video about "Games that were elaborated by their music"? i mean music is important in every game, but sometimes it really sticks out. Like Far Cry 3 and Make it Bun Dem or Zelda BTOW when you get out of the cave in the beginning and look over hyrule.
@trevorstockwell82906 ай бұрын
Yes graphics are good but they mean nothing if you dont have fun gameplay to back up the graphics. Yes you need decent to not bad looking graphics but if the story and gameplay are fun then people can ignore that it doesn't look perfect.

Not true about callisto protocol you get guns after the beginning of the game looks like this dude only played the demo or nothing at all. It is Dead space with different enemies. Its an awesome game.

Fun fact about the Killzone: Shadow Fall game, it was actually made in such a way that Guerrilla could experiment (technology wise) with things they were gonna need for making Horizon Zero Dawn. It was in dual development, I am guessing that's part of the reason why the story didn't really stand out that much. I highly recommend people who are fans of Guerrilla Games (like my self) to watch the NoClip Documentary here on KZbin: "The Making of Horizon Zero Dawn" ✌ (they talk about the dual development in KZ:S around minute 18) Ps. great video and I also hope that KZ will make a strong comeback 🤞

I really had a lot of hope for callisto, but when i finally tried it out, it felt like the walmart version of Dead Space 2 and that´s when I startet to hate it. Same thing goes for anthem. I feel like they only created anthem to see how people will react to it and then just dropped it like a hot potato. Shame, those two could´ve been great.

As a Game Developer, we differentiate Gameplay and graphics in certain tiers. You don't reinvent the wheel just for the sake of it. I though will always prefer gameplay over graphics. But it depends on the game's genre too...... Gameplay or graphics prioritisation also depends on wheter the game is just a cash grab or a serious long term project..........
