Connery was being Connery in TLOEG, rather than the Moore vision of clapped-out Quartermain, who was more Peter O'Toole. The Burton ALICE was a sequel to the story rather than an adaptation. LOTR messed up its source, just like THE HOBBIT. How about THE PRESTIGE?
