Managed to catch Neil Young on his "Trans" tour here in the U.K. back in '82, with Mr. Lofgren. Also saw Flo & Eddie supporting Alice Cooper in 1973. (My first ever gig!)

Great video! I absolutely love Death of a Ladies Man… it’s a criminally underrated album. I’ve never been able to get onboard with Trans… not listened to it in years though so will need to give it another go. I showed Battle of the Bands in a video about a month a go on mix genre albums. Such a great listen. Never heard of Green Lyte Sunday before… Album cover looks very cool! Cheers, Jack

I may be in the minority here but one album that comes to mind is Iron Butterfly Live released in 1970 (April, I believe). Great snapshot of the psychedelic era, only live recorded with the original band and that version of In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida is an awesome mix of psychedelic rock and free jazz of the time. Well worth a listen IMHO.

I saw a concert video, I may still have it somewhere, called Neil Young Live in Berlin, I think. He did two songs from the trans album. I couldn't understand a word of the lyrics except for the line "I need you like ugly needs a mirror" on one of them. It's almost like that line was important enough they made sure you could understand it, even if you didn't get the rest of it. I thought it was funny. I still do.

I inherited my parents collection and the only Neil Young album they had was Trans, also amongst all the Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard and Waylon Jennings albums was the Nina Hagen - In Ekstasy album. Some really weird stuff that just didn't fit with the rest of the collection, i still wonder why or how they got there, but im glad they are.

cool vid & interesting list. there's records I've known and loved for years (neil young trans, roy harper stormcock, phli manzanera diamond head, turtles battle of the bands), records Ive seen around but never picked up, though I have other stuff by those artists (simple minds, leonard cohen), and stuff i've never heard that I am now intrigued enough to investigate (green lyte sunday, john martyn, thundermug). I have the other neil merryweather space rangers and I dig that. ~Don't have kryptonite

I love the term “Lost Albums”! In my mind these have to be records that may not have been reissued like the more well known obscurities. I mentioned an album called Warlock in my comment on your last video, which is more of a psychedelic soul LP. They would make my list of lost albums. I also mentioned the Human Leagues Reproduction LP which I would also throw in the list albums pile. Maybe even Travelogue. If you’re into any electronic type weirdness I’d throw in some Portion Control-Psych Bod Saves the Day Listen to the track Brain Scraper Death Dive! Mindblowing! Also in that genre any of the Foetus albums For example Hole by Scraping Foetus off the Wheel! The Foetus records feature the mad genius of JG Thirlwell! If you’re into power pop I’d almost consider Dwight Twilley Sincerely album a member of the lost albums category. Link Wrays Self Titled LP where he’s wearing the headband could be considered by some as a lost album. And 1 more that I personally find to be a fascinating album is a post punk opus by a band called Punishment of Luxury-Puppet Life! It is incredible! Any chance I get to promote that LP I’ll go on and on about it Check it out! Killer videos so far Dan! Peace ✨✌️👽✨

Stormcock is a masterpiece. I seriously need to get it back in my collection. Love the songs on Death of a Ladies Man, but it is not an easy listen. Diamond Head is fantastic...my favorite track is the Wetton/Chanter duet on "Same Time Next Week," what a vocal catfight. The Turtles album is very fun.

Interesting choices. For my money I'll throw the Bobby Darin "Commitment" lp into the hat for lost but great records. He went by Bob for that one and made an excellent swampy funky rock record that I guess was his version of Dylan. Like this topic Dan!
