What gets me into ruts is when I am super excited to try a new song and then find out the actual guitar part is either really not fun to play or fragmented. Or worse it's in a weird tuning...

Hey Erich, I just wanted to say thanks for all of your help. I've been in a rut for some time now. It was to the point of going a week or so without picking up my guitar. I have tried other online lessons/teachers (not going to name them). But I never got that feeling of a "connection" between them and myself. I feel that "connection" with you. It's clear that you really care and enjoy teaching guitar lessons. But since I started with your system, I am starting to climb my why out of this rut and enjoy playing again. The fact that you give away not only access to you Unstoppable Guitar System but also equipment, is proof that you care. You have already gifted me with a lifetime access to your incredible system (I'm a Vet). I already have 2 guitars and don't need another one. But I have a daughter (she lives with her mother), that has asked me to teach her how to play. I don't have what you have, sure I can tell her where to put her fingers. But I don't have that special ability that you demonstrate in every video. I can't teach. In the few years that I've been playing/learning, it has become clear that the teacher makes all the difference. I wish I would have started this journey with you, but I didn't. At least I found you when I needed you, I am grateful for that and you. So if I was lucky enough to be chosen for one of your "30 in 30". I would simply pass it on to my daughter so she could skip some of the pitfalls that I experienced, and learn the correct way with a great teacher. Thanks again for all you do and for caring like you do.

Jamming with others is the magic I'm looking for in getting a guitar or ukulele or whatever in the near future so I can jam with my husband. We are working on new memories together. He plays guitar and in recent days has shown an interest in me getting a stringed instrument so I can play with him. I'm a fast learner on instruments and am anxious to learn so we can play and enjoy making music together the way he loves to play. It's one of those things where we have a limited time left before the music goes out, so I'm excited to hear you talk about jamming as a great way to get out of a rut. I may be a beginner, but I know how ruts are and even not playing an instrument or starting a new one is a rut. Thank you for inspiring me. I'm glad I came across your channel today. Through breaking this rut and jamming with my husband I will learn even faster and build on some wonderful new memories for me, and for him to cherish.

Hey Erich!! You know I stumbled across your videos about four years ago. I’ve played for over thirty years and thought what the heck I’ll give this guy a peak. In the last three years I’ve picked up so much technique in playing and practicing than in the previous thirty years. Not only that but the passion you display at first I thought you were just being sarcastic. But you know what? You’re the real deal. Although you want your life to be the happiest it can you want that for everyone else as well. I feel like we are friends and if I saw you in person it’d be like hey what’s up dude? Thank you for your selflessness and sharing your passion.

Ever since i started watching your videos, besides song tutorials, this type of videos are helping me to loosen up, and specially feel more confident and less scared to play a guitar, whenever i feel like playing some random things, i used to stay in my room and play something, but then i recently tried to do that in a park, and suddenly better stuff started to come up, and compared it to what i recorded at home, what i did in a park sounded way better, applying what i learned from your videos are helping me to not be afraid of my guitar, your videos are helping me to be hungry for more and more, to feel the experience of being in front of a crowd, your song tutorials are the best, but this type of videos, are the best of them all, because you tell and help people (what I've been saying here), TO NOT BE AFRAID OF THE GUITAR, Erich, you're the best guitar teacher I've seen and heard!

When I first started looking for a guitar instructor online I came across your beginner course, even before I even held a guitar in my hand. I knew I could learn from you. I really dig what you are doing here. Too bad I didn't know you when I was younger, Cuz your advice about not trusting the man woulda been keen to me back then. I trusted the man, and it didn't end well for me, so you were right brother! I leave you with this my friend: When it comes to learning guitar online from an instructor, you are simply the best. Head, shoulders, knees, and toes above all the rest. Your styles are so smooth, and uncanny, that they can't be daunted by time or age. Your licks and noodling are so sleek thus you were crowned THE GUITAR SAGE! #GODBLESS

"Jamming with others" this completely transformed my playing and still does weekly. I always played around with the guitar but never actually played a full song. I was asked to join our church praise band. I reluctantly accepted due to my inexperience and confidence level. After only 3 weeks of band practice I was picking up so much knowledge from others within the band. Playing guitar is a camaraderie, I have never met a guitarist that wasn't willing to share some sort of knowledge. I haven't purchased your course yet, but I know that it would elevate my knowledge and skill level even more. Thanks for what you do. Now I just need to implement these other 9 routines.

Thanks Erich for such videos! I had stumbled upon your channel while checking out some Elvis tunes last year. Love the idea of noodling on the guitar. My son, though extremely early in his music education (8 yrs old), loves to just pick my dreadnought and, in your words, NOODLE! Such a great way to explore the instrument. An eight-year-old playing a dreadnought is a sight to be seen- its bigger than he is. A smaller acoustic would be nice (hint, hint). I’m presently learning to play the violin with my daughter, but wanted to learn an instrument with my son. No better way to spend time with the family than to learn and grow through music! I’ll try to incorporate these practice routines into our family music time. Love these videos. Keep it up!

Thanks for the great ideas! Vivian, my six year old daughter, and I had a great practice session today. I spent most of the day practicing, after watching some of your older videos, while she was at school. She came home, hopped on the guitar herself and started practicing for her recital. She had a make-up lesson with her guitar instructor today and he was very impressed with her progress. Commenting on your videos daily has been helpful too, as it has let me get out some of my insecurities regarding playing. Your suggestion on playing with other, more skilled, musicians strikes a chord with me since my little brother plays too. It would be awesome to have a family jam session!

A couple of years ago I had a personal trainer who gave me the same advice: Mix your routine up to achieve your goals; don’t let your workouts become routine! I didn’t think to apply this advice to guitar practice. It’s time to start mixing it up! The irony is that I’m typing this while I’m on an elliptical trainer at the gym, which means I’m not really working out hard enough, but I do love watching and learning from your videos first thing in the morning.

Great list Erich, I can say one that was very scary for me was playing with others but it's so worth it. If any listeners have not tried it, they can do a little searching and asking around and find a local jam circle. I prefer acoustic jam circles. They are usually intended for all levels and very friendly for the beginners.

I like how you get into details while explaining but yet still simple.......I particular liked about the tabs, chord charts, repature(I dont know if I spelled that correctly)and playing using the radio. I remember watching your video for playing by the ear and was like how does he do that.....now my problem is I have all this knowledge that I have learned from you but I cant apply it cause I dont have a guitar and I have never owned one.....its like watching a cooking show and having already tasted the food in your head but you dont have the utensils or the ingredients(dont mind my example of food....its a very crucial thing here in Africa)anyway my point is I would be very happy if you would bless me with a guitar so that I may be able to apply what I learn from you and that I may also be able to start your course for beginners. Thanks in advance.....Greetings from Kenya

Loved this video! Interesting tips to keep things fresh! I'm trying to get back into playing guitar. Played back in the day, and really enjoyed it, but didn't get far. What guitar do you suggest for a newbie?

I get in a rut where all I want to do is play the same songs over and over. I think I do that because it's easier to play what I know and I don't want to get frustrated trying to learn something new. Then I'll hear a song on Pandora that moves me and all I want to learn is that song. So, for me, getting out of a rut is simply hearing a song that I have to learn. I also really want to try out a looper pedal. I think that would help a lot. Thanks for great tips and videos Erich.

You are such an awesome positive person. When I first discovered your videos I thought who is this guy that looks like he just rolled out of bed? After having heard many of your videos I learned what a cool person you are. Be kind to each other and spay and nuder your pets! Plus you are a great teacher and able to express and very articulate. Thanks for all you do.

A very helpful lesson indeed Erich...as always. I know I find myself falling into a rut once in a while. Specifically, the "jamming with friends" Tip is a definite "keeper" as a prompt to get more active in the community and overcome my fear of playing with and in front of others who may be better players than myself. I always have difficulty jamming with others because I am worried that I won't keep up or will hold them back from playing to a higher level than I am capable of...but thanks to this lesson I can see how important it is to get over that and, in the words of Nike, "just do it". Thanks again for sharing your wealth of knowledge and expertise! And, speaking of sharing... having read that our 30 Day Giveaway winner for Day 5 was announced...(congrats, Spartanowl13!), it is time for me to share today's edition of my daily "Fingers Crossed For Yet Another Day" update. I hope you and our online guitar-playing community enjoy... Spartanowl13 has taken the cake,He may want to pinch himself to prove he's awake...Now we're all looking forward to Day 6 of 30,Especially me, as my fingers are "hurty"From being criss-crossed all night and all dayAs I dream of a new 'axe' from this Giveaway...That Epi is fine, and I'll bet she plays sweetAnd with UGS lessons, this prize can't be beat!5 days are done, but there's 25 left to goSo enjoy Erich's lessons, and comment...you know?I'm off to go jammin' right up there on stageWith the confidence learned from..."YourGuitarSage"! See you for Day 7...stay in tune, my friends... 🎸 😂

Well Ding Dang Doo...the punctuation and spacing of my message above got all discombobulated when I hit "Post". Sorry about that, friends...the sentiments still ring true, despite being more difficult to read than I'd intended. Maybe it's got something to do with posting with these crossed fingers?!? 😉

Lots of good info Buddy. I love playing my guitar. Been difficult as of late, due to this"MS" crap I have. But even though my fingers and coordination is getting worse theres always something I can play that, OR just come up with that calms me. Guitar is a special tool in my life. Makes my heart smile:) Good video again bro. Thumb's up!~John

Thanks for explaining why I’ve had trouble picking up my guitar the last few days. I’m in a rut and didn’t recognize it. I try to play every other day. Sometimes I’m just too busy, or too sore from work from all the lifting I do. ( I work for a foodbank. We have distributed over 30,000,000 pounds of food this year ) Thanks for this video to get my butt back in gear. Time to learn something bluesy.

Thanks Erich ❤ your information Are always helpful I'm so glad to have a great teacher like you ... You always inspire me ! If it weren't your videos I would be just watching cats jumping around on KZbin 😹 and not practicing guitar so thank you so much ! And I would absolutely love to have the chance of learning in the guitar system and dive dipper in music and the chance of having this acoustics since I dont own an acousic guitar! You're one of the most generous people I have ever seen in my life and you put a lot of effort in this work ❤❤ I'm so grateful to know a person like you 🙇🙇🙇🙇

I need to find a friend to jam with, or at least get a looper. Currently, when I want to jam I try to play along with the KZbin video. Although music is my zen at the end of a long day, it never really reaches its purpose unless it is shared. Years ago I bought the piano sheet music for Classical Gas. I could do a little sight reading so I figured I could translate it. I showed it to a woman I knew who was a piano teacher. She instantly played it, having never heard it before. I am in awe of sight readers. Maybe you have given me the inspiration to try and learn again.

Sometimes i think erich andreas is the guy that invented the guitar. The way you explain concepts and techniques is so very inspiring, out of the world, and fun filled. You are really on a mission to make us play the guitar better cos you brought me up from someone who only knew the major scale to someone who now plays chords and writes his own songs. Its thanks all the way and i hope to become a guitar teacher like you.(You inspire me everyday). More grease to your elbow
