I have just ordered a new 敦煌 guzheng (敦煌牌古筝20698TG繁星闪烁). I own a low/medium quality one which I bought when I was starting to learn and didn't know if I would like this hobby. While a good Guzheng is expensive, I really think that even a high price is not really high considering how many hours of joy one can have playing it. If I go to the cinema, it might cost me 10 Euros and gives me fun for 2 hours. If I buy a 2000 Euro instrument and practive 10000 hours on it, the price is just 20ct per hour. So just 40ct per film length (at least that's how I convince myself that it was a good investment ;P)

@@lucaskaasbll2310 I bought it at the Dunhuang shop in China and shipped it to my teacher's home where someone took care that it was packed into a ship with all the other stuff I ordered. I'll have to pick it up from customs hopefully within the next two weeks :)

Song Bo is also a good brand. The brand is based in Taiwan. Song Bo Guzheng has very good built quality, and the sound is close to the style of Dun Huang, just a little bit brighter, (I've heard it's because the founder of Song Bo used to work for Dun Huang). Song Bo price is from mid-range to high-end, they don't carry beginner grade guzheng (most Taiwanese brands don')t

Um…..I bought one. The “premium” rosewood model….$2,000 compared to my 3,000 dunhuang. You’re better off with the dunhuang 7698jm model. But even with dunhuang it sound really nice the first couple years before the sound board opens up and it neat not sound as nice like brand new. Tianyi a Yangzhou brand isn’t so bad the high end ones. Anyways the sound of mountain premium one I got started cracking in 2-3 month is being store in the case. They use nice piece of backboard and the instrument is heavy but the sound board they choose could be better. They use a thick brown/black laquer on most of their sound boards with I don’t like. The bridges that came with mine was not well made. So I guess in all, no sound mountain GuZheng is not good for the money, it’s over priced for what it is. I highly suggest buying GuZheng in person. I’ve bought at least 8 ranging from price 400-5,000 US dollars. Yes 😂 5,000 mujiuchen brand. Even the mujiuchen I think isn’t worth 5,000 usd either. There was flaws with the manufacturing of the instrument. And the sound isn’t worth the 5,000usd I end up still enjoy playing my $800 Tianyi or the 3,000 dunhuang. In my opinion the best option price range that won’t disappoint is 800-3,000 anything under is trash and anything over is just a luxury piece of art.

I want a some what good guzheng from dunhuang, and i checked out their official website but they only ship in China, Taiwan and Mongolia or something like that. How can i get my hands on a dunhuang guzheng if i am not ordering from their website? Or can i order from them..?

There are many fake DunHuang GuZhengs in the market. I will suggest you to purchase the GuZheng from the official retailers. Have you ever tried to contact with them? They might be able to help you to ship the GuZheng to a shipping company which can ship overseas. If you can't find the contact information, you can chat to me on www.hanyin1.com. Good luck^^

My guzheng teacher here in Germany sometimes ships instruments from dunhuang. Maybe you can find someone who is a professional teacher or performer in your country and ask them. Of course, you'd need to trust them but if they know how to ship, you could order from the original website and they can take care of the shipping for a small fee. I ordered mine from the official dunhuang website, delivered it to the her place and she took care of shipping. It should arrive next month :D

@@lucaskaasbll2310 I'm in Germany, I have a teacher around here where I go every two weeks for a class (it's 80km from where I live so I can't go there every week, unfortunately). She also offers online classes but I prefer face to face where someone can take my hand, lift it up or walk around me to watch and correct my finger posture. Where are you from? Maybe you can find a shop which sells Dunhuang instruments in your country. In Germany, I have found at least one shop that sells Dunhuang guzhengs, although I never went there to actually have a look.
