SO true! Especially when you consider what someone’s opinions are based on - their background, their personal experiences, filters, how they were raised, their personal choices, personal preferences, their own perceived limits, what works best for them, what they prefer, etc. NONE of that has anything to do with me! 🙂They are simply expressing how THEY see the world. And we all get to have our own unique individual expressions. 🙂🙏🏼

I have been plagued for years with unsettling dreams. I made a conscious decision approximately 3 months ago to delete all my news feeds and spend my viewing time on things that made me happy, educated me or sparked new creative ideas. I have not had one bad dream since the day I unplugged. Coincidence? I think not.

I haven’t watched the news in over two years at the same time I got rid of sky and very rarely watch the telly I go for days without putting it on. I don’t have a radio I have found a love for silence and reading. I have for a while now been meditating and it’s working. The people that have brought me down in the passed I have cut out my life and I’m happier for it. I haven’t posted on or looked at Facebook in months and it’s been wonderful I have so much more time in my day to pursue other things, things that make me happy. Thank you for a wonderful video

I wish I could say that I was carrying this habit over into the new year but I haven't quite gotten there yet. But I have cut down on the amount of news that I watch on television and on social media. My goal is to eventually make it a very minimal part of my life. There's only certain channels that I plan on watching such as the PBS NewsHour or NPR news which I listen to over the radio. I don't plan on getting involved in anything political for this upcoming year. I also don't plan on having any negative discussions or dealing with negative people or going into places with negative vibes. I am trying to truly adopt the hygge way of living. Little by little I'm going to get there.

Habits I've been focusing on this year have been praying the Rosary daily, watching less of the news, being positive even if I don't feel like it, being quiet more often, waking up at 4 AM, going to bed at 8:30 PM, watching inspirational things (such as your vlogs ) on KZbin, living more simply, and trying to be content with what I have, and the most important has been to trust God more because He knows what is best for me. Happy 2021 to all...

One of the many awesome habits I've started this year is going outside to feed the birds and critters first thing in the morning. So good to get outside and breathe the fresh air, being a human in nature, starting the day the way I'm meant to. Now all the animals expect me, and I LOVE that, total bonus!

I started this habit at the start of the pandemic lockdown in the spring, and I've kept at it, because it helps. Every night as I lay in bed, I think of three things from the day just ended that I can be grateful for. Some days it's easy, other days it forces me to look beyond the bad for anything I can be grateful for. Maybe it's just that I have a roof over my head, that my family is safe, that we had dinner. And then it strikes me.. these simple "small" things are the most important of all.

I have my “miracle morning” routine every day ... weekdays it begins at 5 am but weekends are more relaxed. I get up, get dressed & take care of basic hygiene, make the bed, then go on a 30 minute walk/jog, complete a 15 minute block of Spanish lessons on the Duolingo app, and finally write in my journal. The early morning walk, in particular, has been so good for my health and my spirit. Every day there is something a bit different to notice and appreciate. Most days I still do not want to go on my walk (I’m lazy) but it is just a habit now, and within 3 minutes of starting I am always glad to do it. New habit I started this year that I plan to continue: watching Fairyland Cottage videos every week! They feed my spirit and make me happy. Thank you so very much for your artistry!

Learning to be independent of the good opinion of your own kids is a big one for me. We have just retired and are in excellent shape, body, mind and spirit, we don’t drink much, we play tennis all the time, eat healthy as we have a huge garden and are very different than most people we know so we are considered odd. But that being said we just want to do all we can to be the best we can be regardless of the good opinion of others😊

I haven't watched the news since 2015. I had major surgery that year and with it came terrible anxiety. I found that watching the news made that anxiety worse. Doing yoga, watching inspiring programs on tv, reading and taking long walks/hikes are what got me through that rough time. I have been incorporating those same habits since then. This year I added running and sewing to my daily routine. What works for me is being creative, getting outdoors and watching inspiring, positive videos like Fairyland Cottage! Much love from NC.

I deleted my Twitter and Facebook account and felt so much better. I also started spending 2-3 hours outside, in the morning, with my favorite cup of coffee or tea to just relax and be in nature. Because I continued to work in 2020 this helped so much with any stress I had. I also reduced my work hours to spend more time doing what I enjoy.

other long term changes: use less heat/ac and use more blankets/sweaters and/or less clothing depending on seasonal needs (no central heat/ac usage); own only a washer and not a clothes dryer; go small on appliances (get rid of the built ins: dishwasher/garbage disposal/oven--use only movable appliances: toaster oven, microwave, moveable electric stove burners, air fryer; use less paper (more cloth), foil, wax paper, cling wrap. paper/plastic products: if I receive these items from store or restaurant/fast food, then reuse all (including cups, plasticware utensils, bags/wrappers, paper napkins) at least one more time (after rinsing/shaking out crumbs) and preferably reuse many times before discarding (I understand that sometimes these items are too dirty and must be thrown away--but often, they are like new and are just discarded for no good reason--I try to keep and reuse all that I am able); if given plastic containers or condiment packages--use them again many times and use all of them (do not just discard them--wash them and reuse). If I make myself reuse all of this, it becomes apparent quickly just how much of it I am using and how quickly it builds up and encourages me to be more mindful of usage (whereas, if I keep throwing everything out, then out of site, out of mind and I do not know how many resources I am using--for one person this is not good--but for an entire generation, it is disasterous--just how much we are using and throwing away)...dts

I started a morning routine where I grab my hot drink and head outside with my journal. I journal first, then I write my gratitudes, my intentions and my affirmations. This really sets the tone of the day and helps me to stick to some things like eating mindfully or not responding emotionally.

I also took on a few new habits this year....I found myself mentally, emotionally and physically depleated with everything going on in our world today... I found how I start my day and feed my belly, mind and soul set the pace for my entire day... So I started 1. Not waking up to news and social media, rather morning tea, stretches and journaling instead. 2. Meditation has been something new I started this year and love it....taking 15-30 minutes daily to breathe, regroup fuel my spirit. 3. Drink more water, I started drinking much more water bought 2 specific glass containers and fill them at night before bed. I have noticed a huge difference in my skin, my diet and my energy. The last thing for me was limiting my news to really just keeping aware... And practicing faith that it's not in my hands ....and to stay present in my day. Thank you for being such an inspiration to this girl up in snowy Ontario Canada.

But the following information Remains the Same. I told her she needed to add a little black pepper and a little bit of fat such as coconut oil or even hemp seed oil to her smoothies. Those two things are necessary in order to get the nutrients and health benefits out of turmeric.

@@denisebrock3154 according to Chinese meficine, turmeric, cinnamon, cumin, ginger, onion, garlic, cayenne chicken, turkey cause heat in the body and this creates anxiety, fear, dizziness overthinking, insomnia. Yes, it depends on the constitution of the person. If the person is cold all the time, then these foods are good for him or her. But most of us, because of the stress of life, of menopause, are tense , irritable ,hot inside the body and this dellete the yin, the cooling energy in the body. In order to feel good and relax, We need to eat cooling foods like banana ,cucumber, cilantro, raw salad, drink lot of cool water etc... and take cooling herbs like burdock. Cornsilk, nettle ( warm herb but has cooling effect), echinacea etc... I feel nothing taking turmeric. I feel good eating cooling food. It is why your cousin feel nothing when she takes turmeric.

I've also started keeping a gratitude journal where I thank the day every single morning, for giving me the chance to do what I want & can, & every night before going to bed I'm writing 3 things that happened that day that I'm grateful for. This has helped me cope with the devastations around. I've cut down totally on social media, was never a News person, & I've become much more aware of my finances. Keeping up with the news is an exercise in compassion for me. I've always been an empathic and compassionate person, but now, with the overwhelming degree of trauma and pain in the world, my compassion is evolving into deeper depths. The peace which is maintained by eliminating stressful stimuli is not spiritual peace. True peace is maintained when all stressors are in full expression. Listening to the news in this era of such horror, is a spiritual exercise for me, teaching me more agonized compassion for the world, and providing me the means, in my sheltered life in the woods, to maintain spiritual peace in the midst of the world's staggering suffering.

I used to think that way, too, but I came to the conclusion that my knowing of a tragedy on the other side of our planet did nothing to alleviate that person's suffering. It did nothing to bring back life to those killed or feed the ones going hungry. I stopped reading past headlines. My contribution to compassion now is to sponsor individual children around the world so that they may have a better life through organization such as Children International. Agonizing over mass suffering does no good to anybody.

I think if there is one positive spin-off to this pandemic... it has forced me to have look at my habits and my daily living, and to be conscious of how these things affect my mental and physical health, and also my relationships with others. “Choice” enables us to shape who we are and how we conduct ourself, and habits really are the simplest form of choice. Most importantly “choice” allows us to become a better version of ourselves. PS - In 2020 I made the choice to get up at 4:00 each day. It was difficult at first, and people think I’m nuts... but it is the best choice I’ve made in years and it is now a habit for life. Thank-you for this video, I loved it.

And one last habit I'm starting to do since last month, solving problems "as soon as possible" (if and when possible of course) because the longer I left them the worst they start becoming in my mind and my anxiety gets out of control... I missed the cat, hope she's ok, and visits soon! Thanks for this calming and nice video and as always for the inspiration. Happy Christmas! ❤️🎄

Got rid of my TV over 10 yrs ago. Have never been on social media. Keep my phone on silent, and leave it home always when I'm out ( in the old days we didn't have them anyway, lol) I'm from the answering machine era, lol. NO NEWS AT ALL! No Hollywood type gossip. I avoid all moaner, Debbie/Doogie downers. I only watch documentaries of history , spirituality, or positive nature, on YT I read, and or listen to audio books.. I shut down anyone that complains, blames, criticizes or the like, and I listen to my heart to guide me to do the right thing as much as possible. I am the best friend I could ask for, just the way I am. I cook my own food, and keep it simple. I love early mornings, and early bedtimes. (I rise naturally at 4am and go to sleep naturally at 8pm) I stay in my own natural rhythms, and take it easy on myself all day long. When I have an OFF day, I tell myself its a contrast day, simply there to remind me, how well I am doing on "regular " days. I keep the lights low, sleep in a room with an cracked open window, and walk everyday. I have conversations with spirit, and get all my answers from there. Uncomplicated is my motto. Getting rid of the TV was the best thing I have ever done....that and the microwave, lol. Be at peace everyone, and have a beautiful Christmas and fresh New Year!

Personally, I think stopping caring over the news a privelege. You don't have to watch 24/7 on your social media or watch tv news everyday but I find important to make time to understand what's happenning in the community, country and globe. Find good journals or podcast that doesnt riot your mental health. If we don't keep up with what is happenning it allows to politicans and big comporations to make things even worse that they are today.

Absolutely agree. In fact, I had Civics in school, and actually ended up working in local government for ten years, both were such valuable experiences. One of my goals for 2021 is to reduce my comments on social media about news articles I feel strongly about, and I stead writing my representatives, reaching out to them, and changing my habits, for example reducing plastic use, calling companies that use non recycled packaging, not buying those brands, speaking with supermarket managers, encouraging them to stock products that have recyclable containers. This is just an example. I believe the tuning out completely from news just gives dangerous openings to “leaders” who are self interested, and unfortunately that has happened in my country.

definitely! theres no need to watch news all the time and watch them to the point of anxiety rising, but everyone should be aware what happens in the world, and news are the way to that. maybe try news paper if tv sounds like too much. but if you feel like you can leave your news completely and not watch, check your priviledge

So much agree. The deal is to limit and try to have an objective information, by allowing news from different perspectives, and if possible, in different languages; I do listen to a variety of news in 3 different languages coming from different parts of the world; believe me, it is quite instructive and you quickly learn what to chose to have an objective overview (and it is definitely not CNN...)

In my humble opinion, if I want to keep up with what’s happening in the world, watching hours of news coverage may not be the best way. They tend to be extremely slanted towards fear narratives and do not promote courage or hope. It’s not avoiding reality to limit my news intake, rather it would be avoiding reality to consume much of it - they don’t propound things like courage, hope, resourcefulness, gratitude, which are more a part of reality than temporary challenges. Much love to you all, brighter days are ahead ❤️

I also stopped watching the news-about five years ago. When the pandemic hit I found myself checking every day-on KZbin as I also haven’t had tv for over a year-and it stressed me soooo much that I only check once a week or so now. The truth is much of what is reported is slanted or downright incorrect! I find as well that if I need to know something it will filter through to me. Most of what goes on I cannot do anything about and it makes me feel helpless and anxious. It is all in God’s hands so I am secure in this world. Be anxious for nothing are His instructions. Thank you so much Niamh for sharing another rich and thought provoking video ! Habits that I started in 2020: 1. Stopped watching news. 2. Enjoying praying more everyday, remembering and feeling more connected to God. 3. Started decluttering. 4. Started being kinder, fairer, more patient and forgiving to everyone I come across regardless of how they treat me. 5. Preparing more nutritious meals and avoid sugar as much as possible. 6. Trying to be kinder to myself and trying to be there to support myself. 7. Being more grateful for everything I am and everything I have- tangible and intangible. 8. Trying to use less plastic. 9. Starting to learn how to enjoy studying. 10. Embracing all the challenges (break up, living alone in lockdown, rejections with jobs) and making the best of this time to build a nourishing relationship with myself and everything around me. 11. Choosing to watch people on KZbin who are less consumeristic, more creative, caring and resilient. Making the best of Tier 4 Lockdown starting today. Lots and lots of love from London! xxx

Loved all the habits in this video. One that I really want to incorporate is an earlier wake up/nature walk morning routine. I have been mostly inside with lockdown, and since I am such a homebody I can spend weeks and months without being outdoors. I almost forget how lovely it is to be out in nature. So in this new year, I want to get outside no matter the weather to enjoy nature. (Also, hot tip on turmeric: it is fat-soluble so for best absorption oil is essential! A dash of black pepper and a teaspoon of any neutral oil, I've used coconut and grapeseed in the past will help your body get the most of what it has to offer :)

With the internet, I watch a lot of wonderful programs on my Public Broadcasting Service channel. In fact, I just finished watching season 1 of the new version of "All Creatures Great and Small." I disconnected from the news also, almost 20 years ago. What a liberating experience. When I tell friends, they are aghast and wonder how I find out about current events. Oh, I seem to find out! I have been told that for curcumin to be absorbed it needs some kind of fat, piperine (contained in black pepper). Green tea as well can help the absorption. So in order to combine these ingredients I like to spread some ghee butter on a slice of bread, a little honey and I spray it with turmeric powder. Yummy😋! Then I have a lovely cup of green tea. Sometimes I have breakfast with that or a snack in the afternoon. Merry Christmas to all 🎅

I have only participated in those that are online and I found that most of the activities and people I have not missed. I will not return to being so busy. During the first lockdown I was at home and I spent the time growing our food. I baked everything I could. I preserved a lot of what I grew. I started making my own bread. I became more creative sewing and knitting more. I started practicing the piano again and enjoying playing just for my own benefit. I had a health scare so I have cut out refined sugar and animal fats from my diet and as a consequence I am loosing weight. When I went back to work I started arriving earlier partly due to the lack of traffic and as a result I go for a walk in the surrounding parkland and watch the sun rise every morning. A wonderful contribution . For about 40 years i dont care what others think of me . I think positively and live according to the principle , life and let life . We too read newspaper and watched news programs , all negative . Does not bring anything good . Best regards and many hugs to you and your family . Have a wonderful christmas and a happy new year . I watched a couple of your videos with my four-year-old daughter as I sometimes do to help her relax before bed. After she fell asleep, I tried a slightly modified version of your turmeric tea, (1/4 tsp turmeric powder, 1/8 tsp ground ginger, a sprinkle of cinnamon, and a sprinkle of cardamom, all heated in a pot with almond milk) and sourdough toast with coconut oil. It was all very pleasant. Thank you.

Deactivating Facebook, not reading news has been so much better for my mind, saying no to people for that peace of mind as being stuck in homeschooling for all of us is hard and connecting with nature again, sitting out with the moon stars and breathing in fresh air. Love this channel so inspiringx

Thank you so much for sharing your habits. I agree that kale and turmeric tea are so beneficial. I’m excited to try your recipe. Here are some habits I have learned over many years (as I am old) that have proved to me to be extremely valuable. Early morning time with God and reading my Bible. The bible speaks truth in a world that seems so confused and chaotic. I’ve been having this morning time with God for over twenty years and it has changed me greatly in a positive way as a person. Plus I have gotten to know the Creator of this world. Drinking lemon warm water in the morning and drinking water in between meals. This may sound like a no brainer, but honestly I have had to work hard on this as I forget to drink water which brings me fatigue. Forgiving others who have hurt me. This has been an incredibly hard lesson and yet has provided me great freedom. It took me a long time to really understand what forgiveness is. I appreciate your videos. I look at the beautiful country side where you live and wish I could visit. Wishing you a peaceful Christmas.

40 years ago, I was told by several doctors I was too sick to help. I stopped watching the news and started looking at art and nature books before bed. Needless to say, I am still here and relatively healthy at 70-years-old. I am going to try some of your habits; my favorite one is whenever possible to eat breakfast outside in the garden. Unfortunately, it's so relaxing I don't want to leave.
