I am making the Ayurvedic tea this morning but am adding black peppercorns to mine as it dramatically increases the bioavailability of the turmeric. I remember a similar recipe in a vegetarian cooking paperback by Rose Elliot I owned back in the 1980’s (!) which I have sadly since lost, so was excited to see your recipe and also remembered Rose’s definitely had black peppercorns in hers which I always thought was weird at the time - but I’ve since learned the wisdom behind it ;)

@@mellibee100 my doctor also says you need black pepper with turmeric or it’s of no anti inflammatory value. I take 4 capsules a day (Meriva SF) to make sure I’m getting enough curcumin (the thing in turmeric that’s anti inflammatory), which include blk pepper.

Ahh this reminds me of some years ago when I would have quinoa for breakfast. I like my foods & porridge "wet" so mixing it seems like a wonderful idea! Currently we are having a heavy time here due to my husband having severe back problems (and two small children in the home), so we treated ourselves to very wholesome meals we could order with someone in the neighbourhood. Her meals are made especially for new mothers - and others who prefer it - and they are all very easy to digest and very mildly spiced. She also reuses the containers, so it doesn't burden my low waste heart too much ;) We also have a heavier lunch and use child size portions of her meals for dinner. When we get our strengths up, this gives me inspiration for the time when all is a little better in our household.

People who used to make tofu or soymilk before, most will agree that tofu waste is one of the acceptable waste we can welcome to our low waste life. :) Since there's not much difference between summer and winter here in Thailand, i guess it's more accordng to age first. When I was younger nothing can kill my appetite but now when the weather is cooler, a warm bowl of soup, clear chicken or pork soup is the most comforting breakfast for Chinese Asain or porridge of course

So happy you're doing all this plant-based cooking! Will definitely have to try some of the recipes. I love sweet potato soul and happy pear too. They're absolutely fantastic! I'm always trying to do more plant-based videos on my channel too, but I have a debilitating chronic illness, so it's really hard for me to get any new videos out at all. Unfortunately, 9 years on a plant-based diet didn't magically cure my illness, but it has certainly made a lot of my symptoms a hell of a lot better. It's so good for people (and really does reverse a lot of disease like heart disease and diabetes) so it's great that more and more people are sharing the joys of eating plant based with others online. Do your parents eat plant based too?

A few dishes I made up that I enjoy this season: Golden Milk Porridge: (cook porridge of your choice and add turmeric, black pepper, ginger & a sweetener and plant milk). Baba Yaga's Slaw: finely shred cabbage white and red, grate some beet too. Add a dash of vinegar, salt & curry powder. I have been dreaming of making a baked good with elderberry icing on top(I was thinking lemon scones or bread perhaps)! Going to try my hand at it at some point this winter. Slainte to you & yours!

I normally do my overnight oats with some local maple sugar and milk from a dairy farm. Maybe make an egg sandwich with eggs from our chickens, for lunch a nice Caesar salad with homegrown lettuce, and a crockpot chili for dinner 😋 or some nice and warming soup or stew

Thank you so much for the porridge recipe. I am in love. I've recently started shifting to a much heavier plant based diet, and this one is a real game changer for breakfast for me. I so appreciate what you are sharing and your pace is fantastic! Baby steps.

Thank you for sharing the cookie recipe! The batter was a bit hard to work with, as it did not stick very well to make a cookie shape. However, they were absolutely delicious. My kids gobbled up a whole bunch for lunch. This will definitely be a new favourite at our house.

Looks so warm and delicious. I have a recipe for vegan banana bread which is a bit unusual because it has shredded carrot in the batter. I also add walnuts. It's very filling and an easy recipe. I can share the recipe if anyone is interested.

I am trying my favourite rice pudding using almond milk and roasted butternut squash with cumin and cinnamon today. Always prefer dinner to be around 1 pm then just a snack for tea in the early evening. Thanks Niamh giving me a few new recipes to try.

I am experiencing Season envy. I live in Queensland Australia, semi-tropical latitude so it is sooo hot and humid at the moment. Plus we don't really get a proper Winter like you do in the northern hemisphere. Am enjoying pretending to be cold! thank you.

Such soothing, wonderful videos. So much great information without intrusive ,loud music or nonsensical yelling that is, unfortunately , rampant on KZbin. Thanks so much. Also, do you do any sprouting? Would love to see a video if you do.

Everything you make looks so delicious! Even more so in your cozy home! Do you have a favorite Christmas album? I love Irish Christmas music and my current favorite is by Eileen Ivers: An Nollaig. Wonderful musicians on it! Have a beautiful day! Love and light from New Jersey. 🍀✨🎄

Another lovely video. The sweet rice looks really yummy. I went out and got some spices to make golden milk, yummy! Ivr been making my own chai for years and usually have a pan on the stove with the lovely smell of the spices together but had never made golden milk until now. It's been freezing here, all the mountains are white now and it looks beautiful, as long as you've got your winter wellies on. Nice to get out then come back into a warm house and have a warm drink in front of the crackling fire. Many Blessings to you for a lovely week xXx
