Good morning! I am a new tractor owner. I watched a bunch of your videos, gaining needed information prior to purchasing my new 2024 John Deere 2025R, with a loader, back blade and snow-blower (I live "out of town" in Duluth, MN and have a 1000' driveway!). Thank you for doing these You Tube Videos! They are VERY helpful!

Power curl down. Works same as the float but on the curl down function. Push the loader joystick to the right then push a little harder. It gives the curl down function the enough power to lift the tractors front end off the ground. I just learned this the other day watching another channel and I’ve had my BX for about 8 years and use it almost daily. I’m hopeful to have the 3 point float pin on my tractor. It’ll be nice to use with the brush hog and land rake. Thanks for sharing, I enjoy watching your channel.

I have a feature that's on my tractor that is rarely found on most today. A small hole in front grill that lets you insert a crank. This allows the user to hand crank the engine, in case of starter failure. I have had to use this feature for the last 8 years. The starter worked for 60 years prior to that, with few failures.

@@pws3rd170 I agree, it is insane. The tire now is completely bald,,, the texture looks like elephant skin (cracks),,, and the hardness of the hard is incredible, like a rock. My dad purchased this tractor in the early 60's with all original tires,,, Over the years he had to replace all of the tires except for the one rear tire. There was a 20 year period when the tractor sit still. During that time all the tires lost air and went flat, except for that original rear tire. It can with stand a field of thorns without damage.. LOL Yes, insane, but true. NOTE; I dread the man that will have to replace that tire in the future. It may have to be cut off.

Regarding the 'extra' hole at the top of the loader post, in addition to the mirror mount, my neighbor mounted a bolt about 4" long to use for a handle to get on and off the tractor. Works great. Regarding the tube on the loader frame, I use mine for holding shovels, etc. with the use of a rubber strap. But the main thing I use the tube for is to temporarily stuff the hay net or string in when I'm feeding cows. It'll hold 4-5 until I get back to the house; then I pull them out and dispose of them.

I enjoy your videos and your style of presenting them. Keep up the great work! As for the hollow crossbar in the front loader on my 4320, I stuff the handle of a shovel all the way in until the shove; head touches the arm. then I've drilled 2 small holes in each corner of the shovel to hook a small bungee cord to and wrap around the loader arm. The Shovel stays put until I need it.

One of the biggest hassles when hooking up a PTO shaft is getting the teeth to align properly. They almost never match up and manually rotating the implement to align the teeth can be difficult to nearly impossible. After owning my John Deere 2720 for at least 10 years, I just discovered this year, an incredibly easy way to do this. I don't know if this will work on all makes or models, but if you have both a rear and a mid PTO, whichever one is not engaged will turn freely. When I go to attach my rear PTO, I simply put the selector lever in the mid PTO setting. The rear PTO output shaft then turns completely freely and you can rotate it with two fingers to line up with the implement. Once everything is hooked up, simply put the selector back into the rear PTO position and you're ready to go. I never found any mention of this in the owner's manual and the dealer never pointed it out either.

I just recently discovered the bucket float position on my loader (Kubota BX series). I had accidentally engaged it before and thought something was wrong with my tractor, so I was careful not to push it too far. Then in a random KZbin video I saw a guy describe that feature. All good stuff here btw, both for the newbie & veterans alike... I run a 2003 JD990, I have some of the features mentioned here, but not all of them. Over the winter I completed my own version of a 3PH carryall/tool rack at 60" wide along with a headache rack using expanded metal ( steel ). I also incorporated a rec'r hitch. All of my tools, rakes, shovels, pruners, chains, chainsaw holsters, etc. now have a home. The " Big Tool Rack " currently on the market sells for approx. $1500.00, I built a larger version & far more versatile with folding sidewalls for less than half the cost @ $644.00... After ( 17 ) years running this tractor, the carryall build is by far the best investment I could have ever made for my tractor... Thanks for sharing this video, very informative! Some good tips but folks need to understand that the 3 point hitch doesn't provide down pressure. Virtually anything you pull with your 3 point is "floating" along on it's own weight. A light tiller or disc won't go into hard ground. You have to add weight to make them cut.
@GoodWorksTractors
@GoodWorksTractors 4 жыл бұрын
Correct which is one of the reasons I normally discourage discs on small tractors. Almost never enough weight to engage the ground. The bigger machines can handle heavy discs or weight added to the disc.

On the subject of the loader lock-out switch ... On my Kubota BX2380 I remove the loader when I put the mower deck on to mow the lawn since it makes it so much easier for maneuverability. I engage the loader lock-out switch so that the loader joystick isn't accidentally moved to load up the hydraulic lines and fittings with pressure for the front end loader. Makes it easier to reconnect the lines since they will not be under pressure when the front end loader is reinstalled. Yeah I know, the joystick could be moved in all directions to relieve pressure on those lines but at least I'm not dead-heading those lines if the joystick is moved with the loader off. Great vid!

Those "float" function pins on the 3PH draft links are really more intended to allow lateral float between the two draft links vs easier parallel draft link up and down flotation (which is, as stated, already built into the 3PH mechanism). This lateral float lets the 3PH implement oscillate from side to side relative the tractor's rear axle, so implements with side to side skid shoes or gauge wheels follow ground contours better.

The three point float lever is about left to right float. With no power down a device will float but will be forced to be flat across the arms. Most useful IMO for mowers but I will use it will back blades and such on a driveway. Opposite is when you want to create a crown you need that locked so you can force a box blade off level.

Great tips. One that I thought of was in my 200cx loader. I used the top pegs by the quick attach to hold “extra”pins when I broke one off. Also, it sounds lame but a hidden feature could be to flip the tires around to get a wider stance. I read though my loader instructions on line since you published your video on balast. The manual tells you that you HAVE to have a minimum tread width to use it. My 4410 rims are reversible however I would need to make sure they are wider. This is quite helpful BEFORE I fill it with fluid and try to reverse the rims. One feature you have talked about on a few posts was with regard to the Joystick and rock shaft knobs. I also the rock shaft rate knob to lockout my rockshaft Incase my kids jump on and bump the lever to lower it and have the ballast crush someone. I also do the same with the joystick lever. Oh I also use my tubes on the loader to conceal my extra rolls of toilet paper that I’m hoarding. 😉

On the FEL torque tube tool storage trick... On a JD 4720 with 400cx FEL I had, I used a pair of "Plastic Mechanical Test Plugs" to cap off the tube ends. They're available in various diameters at big box stores. Hopefully you can find one to fit. I think mine were for 4" tubes. The whole trick with these is that you inset them into the tube then tighten a large wing nut that expands a rubber ring which then seals the tube. Slicker than frog fur! 😉. One caveat... The torque tube will be completely sealed. That'll keep things in there dry, but it'll also keep moisture in (like storing a wet chain or tow strap, etc.).
@GoodWorksTractors
@GoodWorksTractors 4 жыл бұрын
I saw those when doing some research. Question: Any issues shoving the chain in or retrieving it? Or, does it tend to stay in place or at least accessible?
@bradmeacham6982
@bradmeacham6982 4 жыл бұрын
@@GoodWorksTractors I used a long chunk of 1/2" PVC pipe with a flat bar "hook" on one end. The pipe was just long enough to fit inside the torque tube with both plugs in place. That pipe was used to feed a chain into the torque tube as well as to pull the chain out. It was then just laid on top of the chain before closing up the torque tube with a plug. That said, the PVC "tray" you showed is probably a better solution.

@williammack3018
@williammack3018 4 жыл бұрын
You mentioned 3 point hitch float. Using this feature can be very important as float allows your attachment to follow the contour of the ground. Sometimes, if the attachment, like a 72 inch flail mower, cannot follow contours, your attachment frame can become bent with twisting force. What I have done is to replace the vertical lift arms with a piece of heavy chain. so that my flail, chipper, rotary cutter can follow contours without damage.

I have looked through the manual for anything regarding making an adjustment to the main hydraulic relief valve. The manual does go on to explain the testing to make sure the proper hydraulic pressure is being used but nothing as to its location and how to adjust it. I have a 2019 1025R and use it just about everyday. You have me hooked as to watching all your video's on the 1025R and I have learned a lot already . Do you already have a video on this subject or any info that could help me understand the system?

The quick connects on the wiring harness in the ROPS is so you can remove the ROPS to preform maintenance. There are 2 purple wires there you can use for additional lighting. Be sure and install a quick connections on the wires you add for the lights mounted to your ROPS.

My 2018 3033R has Blackout lenses for the red which to me should be one on either side giving you brake light and marker/running light. Well on my tractor the left side has these blackout lenses so no light passes through them. I would like to know what is thinking behind this.

This was a fantastic video! I didn't knit ha about that loader lockout button! I'll have to check to see if my JD 2320 has that. You just don't know how many times I'm doing something with the 3 pt looking behind me.... Not knowing my leg has made to loader with the bucket or forks go down.... And I make some very destructive alterations to the lawn! This will be one of the more useful things I take advantage of! I also use the forks as a lift for the smaller mower tractors for maintenance. I back them onto the forks, chain the back of the tractor to the forks so it can not roll off the forks by accident, then raise the forks so I can work under the lawn tractor. It works great like a mini hoist. I usually place bricks under the forks though so they can not accidentally lower.

I love the mirrors. After 3-4 hours of cutting hay and having to constantly lean to the right to see the haybine, I have frequently fantasized about putting a mirror on the loader arm just like that. But as far as not getting on off on that side? I wish. A LOT of times the "step & handle" side is up against barbed wire or a thick stand of hedgeapple trees (especially when I am running the wood chipper) and I can ONLY get on/off on the loader controls side. Curse Kubota for not having a step (and handle - save the steering wheel) there - several times I have sprained my ankle by slipping off trying to climb up that side for the 20th time in a day.
