Running out of golf balls is no reason to quit?! If I remember the rules correctly, it's the only option available. Once you start the round, you're not allowed to swap out clubs or balls...you play the round with what's in the bag, and if all your balls are gone, you can't really play any further...

Go to any municipal course on a weekend and you'll see way worse than any of these guaranteed. I joined with a threesome of strangers once and watched one of them break 3 irons in 9 holes by breaking them over his knee. Needless to say, I didn't bother playing the back 9 with them. Tantrums ruin the game.
