If brown is too heavy I would recommend green or pink! They usually associate those with nature especially green so it’s more like light rains as opposed to all the bass that’s in brown noise.

You asked for other possible sounds... What about the sound made by an old-fashioned, upright, hot water tank or hot water geyser? The kind that used to be in the bathroom. The sound of the bath filling would be overlain by this deep, cavernous, echoing sound as the geyser started to refill. I've been looking for ages for this soothing sound from my childhood.
