17 days sober and no cravings, i know I will be tempted sooner or later.....but this time I really want to stay sober for the rest of my life. It feels great to have made up my mind with no if's, but's or maybe's this time... I couldn't afford to go to rehab, so these podcasts have been a lifesaver for me, thank you Kevin from the heart!

Well said Kevin - I’ve listening to your videos for a while, and they have been very helpful. I just wanted to add to anyone trying to stop any bad habit - it has to come from within! You will know when you’ve had enough and are ready for that BIG change. Be patient with yourself, but DONT STOP TRYING - perseverance is key!!!!! This has helped me anyway... Keep on doing what you do sir!

Great video, Kev. I know you're being general, but if I would name one specific way to use your new time without alcohol: Exercise. It's good for you (obviously be sensible in adjusting for your age and present fitness level), it uses that new energy and restlessness that comes with quitting, it clears your mind for reflection -- like, while walking -- and even if you get addicted to it, that's pretty much OK too.
@susannaspitalsky7502 Жыл бұрын
Try that, works well but f Someone reasons- some hours at Home i am restless and only if it s 30 mins 🤷♀️🙈and then i try to Calm down- and cant find things that work f me instead 🥴

You are helping so many people, thank you for sharing. I struggle with the typical AA program, maybe I'm still in denial but they want me to believe god is stopping me from drinking but I believe I am the one that makes that choice everyday. I choose not to drink today, I'm 77 days in and it's hard but it is getting easier not thinking of drinking. I don't stare at the alcohol at the store or gas stations anymore although watching people drink out in restaurants makes me jealous and I'll watch them and wonder why they don't finish their glass of wine and order another! I am lost with all this free time, I don't know what to do with this sobriety so thank you for addressing this issue. Just about everything you said is so true for me. Thanks again and take care🙂

I feel blessed that I already had hobbies and interests other than drinking and quitting has just allowed me to put more into them. Drinking was more of a habit than anything. If I say no to going out with workmates this Christmas it's going to feel like a gain rather than a loss and i can't wait.

great advice I stayed up and lystend to a lot of your videos. I'm on day 2. slept a lot on day 1. body is felling a bit better. I've been drinking 17 years almost everyday. I finally had enough and roll a few friends and my mom. they where very supportive. Few friends didn't know I was . I was happy to tell them and admit I have a problem. I agree have to start each day with a goal of no drinking. wish everyone luck. anyone who want to talk message me

Mate I find your videos very benificial. I'm at the beginning of my own journey. I really resonate with your down to earth approach. Example, 'accept your weaknesses, not as a reflection of your character but as a skill set you've yet to have obtained'. Know that's not word for word but the message sank in. Thank you for sharing your wisdom. I find it very supportive. 👍

This is so good that it is not only about quitting alcohol, it is about how you lead our lives with positive actions and attitude. It is one of the general feeling what to do with the time if we stop drinking, I feel bit empty. And these are the tips to fulfill the gap and get rid of this life taking monster. It is not that every thing will be great and beautiful after quiting alcohol. This is life, problem will be there. But the first and foremost important to kick this devil out from our lives, which is an extran in addition of our daily problems. There is a chance to deal with all problems, but there is no chance if cannot deal with this enemy.

Your vlogs highlight all the objections and fears that I have about this life change but also all the reasons that i am so fed up with alcohol. In one vlog you mentioned the loss of memories. The cardinal virtues are a set of four virtues recognized in the writings of Classical Antiquity and, along with the theological virtues, also in Christian tradition. They consist of: Prudence - ability to judge between actions with regard to appropriate actions at a given time Justice - the perpetual and constant will of rendering to each one his right[1] Temperance or Restraint - practicing self-control, abstention, and moderation; tempering the appetition Fortitude or Courage - forbearance, endurance, and ability to confront fear, uncertainty and intimidation These were derived initially from Plato's scheme (see Protagoras 330b, which also includes piety (hosiotes)); expanded on by Cicero, and adapted by Saint Ambrose, Augustine of Hippo, and Thomas Aquinas (see Summa Theologica II(I).61). The term "cardinal" comes from the Latin cardo or hinge; the cardinal virtues are so called because they are the basic virtues, required for a virtuous life

My advice to you is, just pick a date, sooner rather than later and start on that date by going to bed sober! You obviously know what it takes, so just do that again!! It's all in the mind, it's not hard to stop putting poison into your body really...Good luck my friend, you can do it!
@opencurtin4 жыл бұрын
Maybe you have underlying issues that need sorting out go see a councillor and chat about things that made you go back on the booze , I drank because I was trying to numb pain from many areas in my life I knew until I confronted them Id always drink to kill the pain they were causing me , every day is still a battle for me but the alternative is a dead end of hurt and a cycle of negativity ....
