I'm still in the beginning of my Air Force journey. Getting in shape, studying for the test, finishing my bachelor's. I have to say, this was one of the most informative and encouraging videos from someone in the Air Force in my opinion. If this guy was my recruiter, I would definitely trust that he knows what he's doing and can absolutely lead future airman and guardians in the right directions. Great stuff👍🏿

As a Civilian dependent, anr being a wife to an Air Force member, my husband and I both suggest Medical Jobs , such as BMET , Biomedical Equipment Repair Technician. School is provided by the AF and transfers to the Civilian hospital in any state. The Pay and Benefits are amazing.. Also, if you are in the Military they might deploy you to a where you will set up field hospitals and Equipment for Medical and Dental. I went to college for dental so no matter where we were transferred I immediately went to work because dental field is in demand. Also great pay, hours, weekends n holidays off. Also check to see if you can qualify to be a Physician's Assistant, ( PA) . AIR FORCE has a school for this and it will qualify you after retirement to work under a Physician with , Benefits, and Holidays off. I would demand the occupation of my choice since the Military recruits are way below what they should be. Good luck to all of you .

Basically don’t sweat it, read the questions thoroughly, and don’t second guess yourself.

Retired AF veteran. IMO the best jobs that crossover to the civilian sector and pay well are. Contracting, Logistics, intelligence, Financial Management. These are jobs that there are a lot of Civil Service opportunities that pay well. If you get one of these career fields in the AF make sure you get all certifications you can and get your bachelors degree that the AF will pay for. Once you have that, these jobs are plentiful in the government after you leave the Air Force.. Most are GS-13's that pay well over 6 figures.

Good video. Remind people to talk to a recruiter. They go through hours of training to be able to explain exactly how the ASVAB is scored. For example, the General Score and the Admin score are the two scores that determine your AFQT. You take the G score and add it to Twice the A score and divide by three. That’s your AFQT. Best way to improve your AFQT score is to improve your A score. There is I much more to qualifying for a job in the Air Force. The ASVAB is only the first step and, frankly, one of the few the applicant has control over. Also the job selection process is not as easy and straight forward as people think it is. Is a complex system that changes all the time. Only an active recruiter knows what happening at any given time.

@lloydbyrne46833 жыл бұрын
@@roshaun411 Take your time, they give you a lot of time so no need to breeze through it. Read each answer and eliminate ones that are definitely wrong. A lot of questions have one or two choices that are obviously wrong so just read through all your options and eliminate what you can to heighten your chance of getting it right. I feel this tip especially applies to the reading and grammar sections. If its been a while since you've been in school then make sure you touch up on math. Even just going over the steps of long division and multiplication because theres a couple questions that have you working with fairly large numbers and trust me I kinda choked a little when I realized you had to juggle some big numbers on pen and paper but luckily my memory didnt fail. basic geometry too like right triangle theorem and being able to calculate areas. Maybe touch up on a little basic chemistry too. Then theres the mechanical and electronics sections that arent necessarily conventional knowledge so I would definitely look into them if you arent too familiar with things like workshop tools and like engine parts. Very simple things though nothing too unknown. I have little experience with engines and workshop but I was able to get the answers just from what ive picked up in life. I didnt personally use any study sources but im sure theres free online resources that will benefit you immensely. Get a good nights rest too of course, dont underestimate the effect of a groggy mind on your test taking ability. And good luck bro.

You only need a 33 to be in security forces. And your recruiter can tell you what else you already qualify for. But just study and do more practice texts and get your score up to qualify for more variety of jobs. You can’t beat the benefits such as 401K, free college, free medical & dental, rations for food and housing; plus travel. You will love the Air Force.
@danielebrparish42712 жыл бұрын
Your score is not permanent. When off duty people study and test for their next promotion. Chiefs are always willing to help recruits move up the ladder plus you will know people who have goals that are similar to yours. I flunked algebra twice in high school and twice in college. I hired a tutor and eventually got through it. I sailed through calculus and lots of statistics courses once I got through algebra. I earned a B.A. in Accounting.

I wouldn't put to much stock into the ASVAB as long as you qualify. I met some of the best Comm people with bad scores and some people that test well who had no clue what they were doing. And Michael is right the math gets all of us older people I took the AFOQT at around your age and all my scores were good except for math. Not many career fields actually use much math like they have on the tests.

What are a few jobs you’d recommend are the best for transferring back into the civilian sector that will provide a stable income? I know there’s a few mechanical jobs as well as security forces and fire protection. Just want to see if there’s anything else i may have looked over? Anyone got some good suggestions?
@michaelainman4 жыл бұрын
Hey David! Yes, some jobs which immediately come to mind are of course security forces, mechanical jobs, and fire protection, but some others include Contracting (which lines up nicely with corporate merchandising and finance), Personnel (which lines up with HR, which all companies have), and Administration (which lines up with innumerable entry-level business job opportunities)

Hey Michael. Thank you for your awesome content. As a minority in the AF, have you experienced any discrimination?
@michaelainman3 жыл бұрын
I would say overall I have had a very inclusive and uplifting experience! Of course I can only speak to my personal perspective and journey but I have been truly blown away, and felt encouraged, by the tangible commitment the Air Force has to rallying behind diversity and fostering a culture of acceptance and respect. Thank you for such an important question!
@Mikael.formermilitary3 жыл бұрын
Discrimination in any service has zero tolerance. As far as the inclusive comment, of course the AF is inclusive. We are all there to do one job. Fly, Fight, and Win. The woke attitude does not work. If a person does not want to bring their A game everyday, stay home. However, if you want to be apart of something bigger than yourself, give all you have in service to your county then come on down. Good luck.
