I love how every year, we get an ejection where the ump throws out... someone. Then the whole dugout has to play duck duck goose to figure out who it was. Then we get the occasional but equally hilarious ejection where no one can figure out why they were ejected, then the ump is forced to stand on it, like with Boone.

These were great. Thanks! My only defense of umpires…they almost always follow the rules. And the rules rarely allow them to change their minds even if they know they made a mistake. The review system helps but will never be perfect. The main reason ejections happen is really because the players and managers know that the ump can’t go back on a call or admit a mistake (to be fair, it’s not easy to see most of these in real time, and frequently not even in a replay) or differ from that to make new case/game law on the spot. So the argument is moot, it’s really just theatrics, and putting a guy on the spot in public when you know there’s nothing to be gained is really a shitty thing to do. But that’s baseball and it’s part of the game and it’s a great game.
