Every time I play BotW, there's this mild sense of frustration that I'm only sitting on a couch and its Link who gets to run around Hyrule. But then i think about HOW MUCH running he does, and I think, "Well, I'd be exhausted after an hour of this."
@jonesthemoblin14002 жыл бұрын
So the Sailcloth Zelda makes is based on the design of the sailcloth the Hylia's chosen hero used. This fits just fine with the idea that the Hero of the Skies is that chosen hero. The reasoning is simple: Link and Zelda grow up with these legends about a legendary hero who slew the Demon King, but has no idea the legendary hero is Link. Fast forward 18 years or so to the Wing ceremony, and Zelda uses the legends to create her Sailcloth she gives to Link and she tells him it's "just like the one the hero used". Then the events of the game happen, and Link goes back in time to become that hero and close the causality loop. It's a simple bootstrap paradox just like with the Goron vase in Oracle of Ages. You get the vase from a goron in the future and then give that same vase to that goron's ancestor in the past. That vase is then passed down to the goron who ultimately gives it to Link who then goes back in time and gives it to the ancestor. Same thing with the sailcloth. Zelda makes a sailcloth based on legends from the past, that sailcloth is then taken to the past giving birth to the very legends that Zelda used to create the sailcloth that would ultimately become the basis of those legends.

I haven't played the game so I could be wrong, but isn't it actually more impossible that it isn't the Hero of the Skies. It would mean the Demon King was defeated by a human twice... and I'm pretty sure there's no way that could have happened in the story... but again I could be wrong. EDIT: Yeah, I think the more important Dialogue is Demise saying "You fight like no man or demon I have ever known." Hero of the Skies is almost definitely the first one to beat him, while Zelda would have no way of knowing and being able to confirm her Sailcloth isn't the original.
@liblib6202 жыл бұрын

I think the "two zeldas" discovery should have been phrased differently. afaik all princesses of hyurle are named Zelda, and following that logic, a lot of them become queens, there's almost always more than one zelda technically. Even in BOTW it implies that Zelda's mother also had the power of the goddess, its just there wasn't any conflict to use her powers, and that's why the princess had problems awakening her power without her mother, Queen Zelda's guidance.
@mikeysrose2 жыл бұрын
This is (a more detailed version of) what I was going to say. When he said "TWO Zeldas alive at the SAME TIME" like it was something mind-bending, I thought, "Yeah, there are usually multiple Zeldas, because that's what all the princesses are named."

I feel like Zelda saying it's not the same sailcloth doesn't necessarily make it true since if you assume the hero before the game is Link traveling back in time, that Zelda at that specific point in time when she gives you the sailcloth at the beginning of the game wouldn't know that Link would eventually travel back in time and use it in the past and potentially make it a legend in the present. I'm not saying I agree or disagree with that theory necessarily, but I'm just saying that Zelda saying it's not the same sailcloth doesn't make it true given there's other context involved that would make her not really have any way of actually knowing that.
@oriongurtner72932 жыл бұрын
I’ve also got a correction: while it’s true that the Oracle Series don’t have Ganon _separately_ in either quest, he is actually the final boss of the combined quest story (which is the canon form of that installment) Guess what _else_ is unique to the combined Oracle games but not in the separate stories? _The Master Sword_ That’s the correction, it’s the real deal Master Sword in those two games because he fights the real deal Ganon in those two games, too

For the Gerudo males thing, my theory is: If it is true that the figure we see in the BOTW 2 trailer is Ganondorf. Then maybe for a Gerudo male to be born, the last one has to die first. If that figure is Ganondorf, then since he isn't actually "dead" and in a "stasis" a new male can't be born. Explaining why there are no males and males haven't been born in a long time. Just my theory.

I wanna point out this on the Sailcloth statement. Even if Zelda said it's not the one the old hero used, it doesn't mean that it isn't. She said this at the start of the game, before she awoke as Hylias mortal incarnation and after she did the sailcloth became the one from the legends after Ghirrahim decided to involve time travel. The old hero is the 1st Link, it's the reason why there aren't a tomb or any relics from him in the era of Skyward Sword. Because he took all his stuff with him as he left, except the Master Sword. At least that is my take. On the topic of Fado. Koroks and Kokiri are child-like lesser spirits born from the Deku Tree and can take many shapes withinn the limits of his power. Since they are born from, and bound to, the Deku Tree they are sexless and have no actual gender. The only thing that decides what they appear as is what they wish as an individual or what is deemed neccesary by the Deku Tree. The Kokiri where given the shape of children both because of their playfull and childlike nature and the need for Link to grow up in a (relatively) human-like community so that he would not be completely out off his depth when going into Hylian society. Fado was in the guise of a girl in OoT and just altered the guise to a boy, just like you change a set of clothes. Why? Nobody knows but Nintendo, but I belive it was a way for Fado to remember and honor Link and their friendship. (I hope I wasn't too confusing, my written grammar is rather poor.)

I've always thought with the downfall timeline, that it was a result of one of times you returned the master sword in oot to go back in time, and in doing so, created a new branch where an ill equipped link had to face ganondorf, or simply couldn't reach him
@bigfenix82722 жыл бұрын
Story wise Link does have to go back to the child timeline once: to go through the Spirit Temple as a kid. So you might be onto something.
@wesnohathas19932 жыл бұрын
There's one small issue with that idea. If Link was creating a new timeline branch every time he returned the Master Sword, then he would be entering an entirely new future free of his influence after pulling it again. But instead, the results of all of his actions in the future are preserved, suggesting that he is still within the same timeline as always.

My personal Theory for 7:18 is that no Gerudo Males have been born since Ganondorf, because one is only born when a new king is needed. Therefor, since Ganondorf is still "alive", or at least he still exists, there hasnt been a new Gerudo male

I honestly believe that the Fallen Timeline is actually the original timeline. I have 2 reasons for this: One, the first 4 games were of the Fallen Timeline. Two, in Ocarina of Time, you're literally playing into Ganondorf's hands for the entire game. Yes, you break the curse of the Great Deku Tree, save the Gorons from starvation, cure the Zora's guardian of its parasite, and then later on, rescue the Sages. None of Link's heroic acts put a dent in Ganondorf's plan until the final battle. His only downfall was the Triforce splitting, and of course, theoretically losing to Link. In short, Ganon laid his plans out perfectly. Whenever you defeat Phantom Ganon, he specifically says "when you fight the real me, it won't be so easy." That basically means he's watching you the entire time, and was fully aware you would survive and rescue all of the Sages. When Sheik turns back into Zelda, Ganondorf immediately captures her and says "I knew you would appear if I let this kid (Link) wander around." He does admit to slightly underestimating the power of the Triforce of Courage, but still, despite Link's efforts before reaching Ganon's Tower, Ganondorf isn't phased one bit, patiently awaiting Link's arrival in his castle to take his piece of the Triforce. Like I said before, Ganondorf laid his plans out perfectly, all he literally had to do after he got the Triforce of Power was wait, and then defeat Link. Don't get me wrong, the Hero of Time is a legendary hero, he fought with everything he had in a most epic clash with Ganondorf, but I'm pretty sure Link actually lost that battle. Despite his defeat, he's still a hero who saved Hyrule from evil, because thanks to his efforts before the final battle, the Sages were still able to seal Ganon away even though he completed the Triforce. Hyrule suffered quite a bit for a good while, but eventually the next hero (Hero of Legend) took Ganon down. Though it's a theory in my opinion, the Child and Adult Timelines are scenarios that took place IF the Hero of Time was victorious.

As far as the Downfall timeline, I've always assumed that it was caused by Link fighting off Ganondorf immediately at the Temple of Time as he claims the triforce, getting that piece and then Zelda's, Ganondorf has all 3 pieces and takes over, then there's a big destructive war against him, and some other form of sages (since their descendants are all human in ALttP) come together with a spell to seal him away in the dark world that was created when he first touched it (vs the seal in the end of OoT, where they purify it back to the Sacred Realm). Then, they try to use time travel to go back and fix the world (the way Zelda sends Link back to be a kid) and the plan is for Rauru to grab Link before Ganondorf can kill him and risk letting Ganondorf run around with a single piece until they're ready to take the fight to him. It just seems like that makes the most sense for a split and how it would come about, and is also a proper explanation for why they pull Link away and let him age, they already knew he'd lose.

I prefer the theory that the "Downfall timeline" is actually the "abandoned timeline" the one from the very start of the OoT, with the "childhood timeline" being created after Link gets sent back after Ganon's defeat
@DaNintendude2 жыл бұрын
that idea never seems to sit right with me, because the "abandoned timeline" would just be the past of the Adult Timeline. However, I have seen a theory online that has a different idea that I like fairly well. The idea is that instead of going to the Sacred Realm for 7 years, Link grabs the master sword and immediately fights Ganon. But he's too weak and ends up dying. Zelda sends a message back in time to Rauru, with the solution to seal Link away until he's strong enough. This ends up becoming the child timeline we play through. The Fallen Timeline would be an unseen previous timeline where Link was never sealed away. There are probably flaws that I'm not aware of, but imo it's a great way to have all 3 timelines co-exist without claiming one of them can't happen without Link's death in the Adult Timeline.

Also wanting to add: some people actually identify with the term "transsexual", especially older trans people, but overall it is not well perceived when cis people use it, as it is reminiscent of the psychiatrisation of transidentity, and can enhance the preexisting general confusion about the differences between gender, sex and sexual orientation. Also, not all trans people need to "change sex" to feel good in their body, to put it very shortly. Hope that clears things for some people, if needed!

6:44 *"Since Kokiri are immortal and don't die of old age."* According to -Eiji Aonuma- Shigeru Miyamoto, Kokiri *do* die of old age. Yes, throughout their entire life, they do look and act like children, however, when a Kokiri dies of old age, they simply fade from existence similar to Yoda in Return of the Jedi, only they are still energetic like children instead of being weekly in bed like other people. Typically, Kokiri on their "death bed" will move into the Lost Woods, away from the Kokiri Forest so their friends won't see them die. Once a Kokiri dies, another is born in their place, giving credit to the theory that Fade from Wind Waker is a reincarnation of Fado from Ocarina of Time considering, as an Adult, Fado is only found in the Lost Woods without any other purpose being there unlike Saria and Mido. Other than that nitpick, thank you for making the video.

All of a sudden, they grow up until they reach a certain age, when they disappear. The next generation is born just as abruptly. So at some point, Link will disappear."* Of course, we know now that Link isn't a Kokiri.

4:48 In fact, Hylia's Chosen Hero is not the only Hero we have yet to see. Across the series there have been several mentions of Heroes whose exploits we haven't seen, at least as of this post. There's the Hero Of Men, mentioned in TMC's opening and the one who saved the newly-founded Hyrule by sealing Demise's remaining minions in the Bound Chest, which Vaati opens to kick off the plot of TMC. Then there's Vaati's Jailer, who sealed the resurrected, amnesiac Vaati in the Four Sword, but the seal is imperfect, and inevitably fails, kicking off FS' plot. And finally the Hero of 10 thousand years ago, the first Hero of the current continuity, who was supported by the Divine Beasts and ALL the Guardians when he sealed Calamity Ganon underneath Hyrule Castle. There are also some implied events that could be expanded into their own games. Such as the Hero Of Time's second adulthood, between MM and TP, where he learns/develops the Hidden Skills he teaches to TP!Link. And then we have the first battle between FSA!Link and Vaati, as confirmed even in the Japanese version of FSA's opening, taking place some time before the events of FSA. Lastly, I'm curious about Classic!Link's travels prior to saving Impa and setting the events of _The Hyrule Fantasy_ in motion. In fact, all of this and a few things I left out can be found in an entry I made on the "post-HH" WMG page for _The Legend Of Zelda_ on TV Tropes. Go check it out!

Frankly Bandit, I'm just glad that you didn't sell out like so many others do when they rebrand. You can cover whatever you want and I'll still watch it. Again, thank you so much for not selling out just because it's more profitable.

The Downfall timeline is a universe in which the Hero of Time fell; we don't know that the Hero of Time falling is what CAUSED that timeline to exist. Since OoT was originally built as a prequel to ALTTP (a Downfall game), it's more likely that Downfall is the original timeline, and something else happened offscreen that allowed the more successful timelines to take place.

I’ve always enjoyed your Zelda content but I have been enjoying your other content as well. Especially, Elden Ring. No doubt when BotW2 comes out, you’re going to be all over that. :)

The two Zelda’s could definitely help theories for botw

I actually have a theory about the lack if Gerudo males. I think it’s because Ganondorf is still alive and sealed away. Correct me if im wrong but i think it was stated somewhere that only one male gerudo can exist at a time? Its also a very deliberate choice because link was asleep for 100 years so logically there SHOULD be a male gerudo baby. I also dont think theres any reason they wouldn’t let the male stay and be the king/leader of the gerudo because that’s basically tradition. So essentially i think no male gerudos are being born because ganondorf is still around

This was a cool video. And thank you for the "mini ramble." That was a great monologue to set the vision for the channel and what we can expect on this journey with you. God bless!

@liamnehren10542 жыл бұрын
The fado name is probably like link, zelda, gerudo males being named G something in honor of their ancestor Groose, malon etc. honoring ancestors by naming you child after them or even just full traditional like naming the third (or whichever one it was I heard it a long time ago and it was supposed to be connected with honoring the royal Falcon)child of the Pharaoh Falke.

Hey Bandit! Even if I followed your channel for your Zelda theories, I've really enjoyed the way you've broadened your horizons in terms of your content and I look forward to seeing what other games and topics you decide to cover. You're probably my favorite gaming lore KZbinr :)

I just love the idea of Nintendo workers watching theory videos and being like “oh shit we didn’t think of that ! Guys write that down: two royal bloodlines and the very first chosen hero ! We can make games out of these !!!”

I've been a huge Zelda fan since 2006 so even though I knew all of these things I'm very glad to hear you talk about them because these are all the kind of things that no one knows about

Hot take: the reason that Zelda Prime can't give the Hero of the Sky the original sailcloth, the reason that there is no extant sailcloth relic being passed down, is because Link brings it to the present with him when he travels back and forth in time!
@KlrbyZ2 жыл бұрын
THANK YOU! You are the first one to state the two Zelda theory. I've been saying that for years but nobody else talks about it.
@demonblade0012 жыл бұрын
The gerudo male thing was a curse from Demise. The reason why they didn't have a male since Ganondorf is because Ganondorf isn't dead.

ohoho that Skyward Sword previous Link makes me so excited for BotW 2. I had a theory that BotW 2 might have some time-breaking themes (and might even be called Breaking Time, what with LoZ’s previous time-related titles); Link’s sort of caveman armor in the new trailers plus the sky islands might be related to SS’s islands and might even have prequel-like elements, maybe with him getting thrown across different timelines and points in time which somehow help him save Zelda/Hyrule in BotW 2. so many possibilities! and Bandit, we will be here no matter what you want to do with your channel. I’m glad to have stuck with you for so long, and I can’t wait to see what other games you cover, including Elden Ring and FNAF. also, the cut is fresh. pet Ganon for us :)

Nintendo needs to make a game of the very beginning. How the master sword was Crafted. How the hero developed into a hero. How the world evolved around them. This could be the Ultimate game and the very start of all the games.
@marche8002 жыл бұрын
I would argue that the fact that Zelda is unaware that she is Hylia and that Link will time travel makes her an unreliable narrator when she says the line "this is not the same sailcloth that the goddess made". Afterall if SS Link is the ancient heroes then the legends about the Goddess granting the hero the sailcloth must be about him which means the one Zelda makes for him is based on the very sailcloth she gives to him just when he uses it in the past. It's a bootstrap paradox similar to the Song of Storms in Ocarina of Time.

So a little detail that changes the first point. At the end of LttP Link wishes on the Triforce to undo all the evil "Ganon" has done. In this time line between OoT and LttP Ganon appears at the end of OoT and is then sealed away. He never dies. So LttP link's wish creates the other time lines where OoT link is no longer allowed to lose the final battle. Then he continues in his own timeline.

I really like that you make content for other francises as well. The only reason why I don't watch the Elden Ring videos is because I have yet to play this game.
