Are you in touch with other preppers in your area? A shared expense is perfect for a freeze dryer. Honestly, it usually sits unused most of the time anyway. We have five guys in my area and we split it five ways to include the oil.

I'm not much for gadgets. We do have two generators, one for the house, one for neighbors to keep their food fresh. Also, 200 feet of extension cords. My list, 14 Fruit trees 20 Berry bushes 1 nut tree 1 grape vine garden tools vegetable seeds wheat seeds reloading tools reloading supplies canning equipment fermentation equipment a tarp big enough to cover the roof, scrap lumber and nails to hold it down and a ladder and a hammer The harvest from 1,700 square feet is only about 1/3 complete, we already have half a year's worth of vegetables in the pantry. We've fermented berries and pears. Apples and grapes up soon. After the fermentation produces alcohol it undergoes a second aerobic step to produce vinegar. To us vinegar is more valuable that wine or apple jack. All this on a half acre. And the yard still looks nice.

Instead of the butane stove, I opted for a Silverfire survivor and a biolite. One for large jobs and one for small jobs with a low level charging side benefit. Both run off of biomass instead of very finite fuels. I got panels, storage banks, and DC fridge freezer from Gosun along with two sizes of solar cookers. I'll use the freezer to freeze blocks of reusable ice packs which in turn will be used in coolers.

I have 2 solar backup batteries and 200 watts of solar panels. I have an electric rice cooker I can use to cook with. I have an electric cooler I plug into my backup battery. I also have an amp meter. I can plug my appliances and electronics in so I know how much power I'll need to run them. I have a dehydrator, propane stove, wireless USB fan, small heater, electric blanket, USB charging lights. Emergency radio, water filtration system. Almost all of my devices are USB charging that can be charged using any one of my solar chargers or shore power. I live in Florida and have been preparing for emergencies/ hurricane season since 2020. I add to my emergency supplies each year. I also grow a vegetable garden and tropical fruits year-round. I started prepping with very little money. As a retiree, the one thing I want in a power outage is to be able to stay cool in this Florida heat.😊

Our cental AC went out during hurricane Debby a few weeks ago we were without AC for 1 day. It was brutal. The fans and several showers keep me cool. We were blessed that it was just a blown fuse. Just praying we don't loose our AC again. I need to invest in a few more fans. Stay cool 😎 👌

I went with the Anker generator and Solar. I also made my own backup similar to yours. 200 watt Solar. I like your vids and subbed. One thing you might mention is people getting water of their roof. Sometime ago I reviewed the issues with the berkey. I note that they didn’t comply with various state regs for testing. I still think they’ve stood the test of time and I’m ok with it. I am going to go with reverse osmosis filter you have. I also have a silverfire smoke free wood burner. Excellent for fireplace and people couldn’t see you. My neighbors are quite close by and I don’t want them seeing what I’m doing.

Strangely enough I have everything you mentioned except the sun oven. Living in Canada in a rain forest counting on sun for much of the year is futile. A lot was bought for building out a step van so I have solar panels as well. I regard all these things as sensible solutions for travel as well as preps for grid down situations or other emergencies. We get November storms that take out the power lines every year. Good on you for informing people about more than the usual 3 weeks worth of food preps. Little old lady on vancouver island.

I have wanted a freeze dryer for a while now. My uncle used to sell home cooked freeze dried meals to his hunting and camping buddies for half the cost of store bought package meals. He also used to freeze dry candy and sell it at trade shows for ridiculous markups (a $1.50 bag of skittles can be split into two portions and sold freeze dried for $5/portion. people pay it happily for the novelty) between that revenue and his own food cost savings, he said the unit (well over $4000 at the time) paid for itself in just over a year and now makes him money. If you keep it well maintained and use it often, a freeze dryer can be one of the best long term investments you can make on a single appliance

Wanna add two things on the generator section: 1. If you have one for your house. Look into the NG converter kits for them. NG as in Natural Gas. Pretty much anything short of an earthquake, you're Natural Gas supply won't be shut off. And you can hook that up to the generator, and not have to worry about running out of gas. 2. Look into modifying the exhaust with a muffler to make them run even quieter.

Generator noise tip. dig a hole, put the generator in the hole, cover it with a sheet of plywood... ya will need some kind of ventilation so the exhaust escapes and it can get some fresh air so it dont choke its self out from exhaust fumes. a piece of pvc pipe 2-3 inches in diameter through the ply wood on one end almost within inches of touching the bottom of the hole and leave the other hole open,, heat rises which will pull in fresh air down the pipe. works great.

@@tyger13us hey tyger Your absolutely correct 👍 n everything you say here I live in the NE, specifically the state prison of NJ, have been for over 25 years now Much different environment here as opposed to you However, Sandy hit, it didn’t take but 7-10 days down here near the shore for people to lose their shit I live in a upper middle class neighborhood and they were driving around at night in pickups with guns cutting the chains on generators and stealing them Many were used by those that stole Many were being sold as used at local auctions etc Hell, they recall people were being held up by men with guns at the one still functioning gas station near us that was still able to get their gas out of their tanks and accepted only cash The line was at least a mile long and that was for the walkers not even the drivers They were being robbed just blocks away as they walked for their gas tanks It literally took less than 2 weeks for people to turn from civilized neighbors to desperate what you would describe in normal society as criminals Our local food stores Wegmans, Shopright and Acmes were charging 50% for their frozen food items they would spoil Good deal, right? Normal people, neighbors, criminals, yes they mixed in as well, walked in and even with the local police presence, just started taking whatever they wanted and walked out without paying The police nor store owners didn’t do anything. At first they tried but the numbers were too many. The store owners told the police they didn’t want any trouble and that they would have to throw the food out anyway within a certain time period by law. That they were insured for all of it Thing is, the people were not just taking the frozen food but dried and canned foods as well Anyway, bottom line, did anything here surprise me? No Anything you said surprise me? No I am a 16 year fully disabled combat veteran, 18b Also, as part of my responsibilities in training forces even outside of US troops I attended SERE training which was very valuable I was older than I’m much younger than that now 😝 But I’m disabled, so limited Throughout my military career I’ve witnessed many what people would describe as SHTF scenarios around the world Many were different in gradation but they all shared the same characteristics and even what you would consider normal people will do very desperate things for their families etc That’s not even considering what those criminal Components would do to gain access and control to resources thereby controlling the people So, it is always a good idea if you can have a Mix of dual powered traditional generators and solar And never let them think that you are in a better situation than they are They will take And you will give You will not have another choice I wish you and yours and this crazy world peace ✌️🇺🇸

Propane for heat, Butane for cooking, and Gasoline for generator??? Why not all propane???

Propane is the most expensive option. the K1. To heat my kitchen with Propane cost$60 a month. It is hard to find a propane stove that is safe for indoor use. If I want to cook outside then I use hobo stoves

Propane and butane are great to store. A propane stove indoor is fine. Crack a window, even a small amount of ventilation. We use to run rocket propane heaters indoors with a window cracked for construction

the buddy heaters are gas hogs! A Chinese diesel heater is much better and close to the same price. you need to use a 12 volt battery if grid down. a car battery will last 3 days on a full charge. plus you can mix 50/50 diesel and used veg. oil

So many people that believe they are wise in their own minds, when there is nowhere you can hide when the wrath of God, his judgements, ring out across the world! Many will go to the rocks in the mountains and say "fall on us! Hide us from the face of God!" The only true way to survive is to put you faith and trust in our Lord Jesus Christ, for there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved!

@@nickpellman5048 How do know? God can work in so many ways to bring to someone what they need, including warmth. It may not be in the way you thought of or expected, but God can do all things. Sometimes we may not get the answer we desire, or it comes in another way we did not expect, for He gives us what we need, not always what we want.

@@brotherinchrist72 if you rely on God to provide you warmth you will freeze to death. Me personally, I'm putting my money on the buddy heater to keep me alive. Your sky daddy won't save you. He will not keep you warm, he will not put food in your belly. You will die looking for anything you can remotely consider a sign that he is going to help you, and when you find nothing you will tell yourself that he is testing you.
