Great selection. Few albums to explore... I remember an interesting Scofield/Metheny album 20 years ago, with drum and bass(Steve Swallow). Thanks for your contribution for jazz (guitar).

Just a heads up, Emily Remler's name is spelled wrong in the chapter starting at 3:40.

Thank you! Great choices and some I need to check out. I also like the album "Dialogues" by Peter Bernstein and Joachim Schoenecker. It is a nice display of Peter's comping approach in a duo setting. And some tiny German tip: If you pronounce Haunschild as Hownchilled, you would be taken as a native speaker ;)

An old-school chord melody and acoustic archtop feast, Marty Grosz & Mike Peters' _Acoustic Heat_ , on the Sackville label, is one of my all-time favorite jazz guitar duo albums. ... I love the Pass-Pisano _Duets_ from the list, too!

Joe Pass and Herb Ellis. George Barnes and Carl Kress., and another one he did with Bucky Pizzarelli. Great stuff....give a listen.

Glad you've mentioned John Stowell ! Stowell has THE Most Elegant technique... Sadly, you've neglected to mention the duo of George Barnes and Bucky Pizzarelli, THE greatest Jazz Guitar duo to ever walk the planet.

Thanks! I would like to add some brilliant albums featuring jazz guitar duos: "Sargasso Sea" and "Five years later" by John Abercrombie and Ralph Towner, "Twin house" and "Splendid" by Larry Coryell and Philip Catherine.

Nice list! I am a little surprised Chet Atkins and Les Paul didn't make the cut. Maybe since they are a bit country tinged?
@robertsparkman85165 жыл бұрын
I always considered both of them to be jazz, even as a kid, before I started playing guitar.

Great list! ..since you asked, "Two For the Road" Joe Pass and Herb Ellis..or "Polarity" Jimmy Bruno and Joe Beck You mentioned Van Eps and Alden. "Seven And Seven" was my favorite from them. ..but anyways--I'm sure you are aware of these!! Thank you for your videos

Hi Ritchie, thank you for the list! I will explore definitely. By the way, have you maybe made (thought of making) a list of ten must hear solo albums, or maybe duets guitar+other instrument. I would be quite curious, what your choice would be. Keep the good work :)

Love the channel Richie but I would say Larry and Lee by Mr Carlton and Mr Ritenour was a pretty glaring omission.

Sorry but I haven't had a chance to hear it...there are too many recordings out, and I can only recommend my personal favorites, so that's why I requested on the video that anyone wishing to post other suggestions, please do so...

@@RichieZellon Sorry. I didn't mean that to come out like that. 😊 I think you would enjoy it. I really like Larry Carlton and love how he was such an admirer of Joe Pass.

Heavy Artillery is not a duet. Few of the other albums you mentioned are not duets either.
@RichieZellon5 жыл бұрын
I am well aware of what you are trying to point out. However, please listen to what I had to say about how I am using the word "duets" in the context of these albums. I mean 2 guitar albums and I explain which ones are accompanied throughout. For starters go to 1:36
