Dreamcatcher is just everything a k-pop group should be. Unique, talented, beautiful, well managed, no scandals, members get along on a professional and personal level, dedicated, hard-working, there's clearly a good relationship between employer and employees, all the members are responsible and committed to the group, their live skills and stage presence are just unmatched, their experience in performing these crazy and elaborates dances while live singing shines through. It's Korea's loss really. I'm happy DC is pretty stable overseas and doing just fine turning a profit good enough for the company to keep them afloat and the members to continue to do the work.

Well a big reason y their growing domestically is because dreamcatcher’s sound has evolved from the hard rock sound they debut with. Their label has tapped into korea’s edm fan base. Raves and edm music is huge in korea and it’s getting more popular. So dreamcatcher tapping into that has helped them and it has a positive affect as their domestic base has grown a lot. SM entertainment understands that edm is huge which is y they have also tapped into this market and y sm has a dedicated edm label. SM has a strong hold in the edm area in korea and it’s just now that other labels has picked on it. Trust me dreamcatcher tapping into the edm market in korea has been the boon that they needed to grow domestically

Speaking about Monsta X you are not quite right. Yes, some fans had left fanbase after Wonho departure, it's not surpise, it's happening to all groups who had lost a mamber. But to say that they lost their popularity is very misleading. Wonho left group in 2019. Their first Daeseng was in 2020, they had 5 wins first time in their career with Rush Hour comeback last year (just 5 mambers) and they are breaking their sales and streaming records with each comeback! They have stronger fanbase in SK now than back in 2019.

Also Monsta X had korean comeback after combeck all 7 years, and released 4 japanese albums, so to say that Starship forgot about Asia is so wrong. The fact thay they managed to release 2 english albums and had 3 world tours is because they worked hard as hell. Starship CEO even once said that Monsta x is like cash cow, so they were milking them as much as they could. At one point they were so overworked that many mambers had injuries so they went on hiatus. Therefore many fans had left the fandom, so after that monsta was so afraid to take longer vacation or leave SK for longer period of time.

Then theres Gfriend Mamamoos uprising popularity and Momolands hit song. Everyone might thought Dreamcatcher going to be left behind, time proved other wise, Dreamcatcher broke 100k album sales starting in 2020 eventhough they still dont have a music show win, while the other groups which had a good start fall out due to company issues. They pull through 5 years coming 6 years they are one of the fewer groups from small company where all members renewed their contract. 3:48 emmmmm.....no, let's put this timeline straight, ok? Monsta X around and before 2019 well pretty known internationally but not domestically; after Wonho left the intl fandom lose some members but tbh their numbers actually never showed that their popularity was decreasing (always consistent and getting higher), when 4th gen started to be the rule on the kpop world, then was when mx popularity saw an impact but more than anything it is bc 4th gen fans are so into numbers that almost every 4th gen group that is making it big have crazy numbers, mx didn't have that big jump so people started to create this narrative of them "losing popularity", but this concept has never be supported by the fans themselves; now monsta x domestically is having a crazy increase for a boy group, i mean they are practically one of the 8 most famous active boy groups in Korea rn despite what antis are saying, the fact only nct, txt, bts, btob, svt and winner have better numbers than them tells you a lot, considering boy groups are basically extint on streaming plataforms this year and that, the groups I mentionated are big names in korea, so yeah, monsta x is doing pretty well, this "oh my good poor them" narrative that no fans tries to put on monsta x out of lack of acknowledge or just for hate is not good and monsta x only deserves more praise, not you pitty them

I kinda find it very funny that Monsta X is in this because yrs ago I think this applies to them where they are more popular overseas than in Korea. Antis always called them fl0ps at their own home country but nowadays since they kept getting viral moments in Korea, gaining bigger kfanbases, charting better etc suddenly kpop stans say that’s because they are only popular in korea and not overseas. People even got mad that Monsta X are called global artist. One things for sure, Monsta X are still thriving both domestic & overseas. Even tho their rise is slower compared to other groups, they never fell off or lose their relevancy if you compare their results from previous cbs to newer ones. They keep steadily rising and this is a miracle for a group who went through A LOT, whose career is at the verge of breaking back in 2019 when their member was forcefully kicked out, them having planned attacks against them trying to get them disbanded. But they overcome all of it to be where they are now because of their loyal fanbase. Not many groups are able to do that. Only a select few did & Monsta x is one of them. Just because they are not most talked about by the genz, doesn’t mean they lose any bit of their popularity. They are still very well respected in the industry & all the people inside it. I am just too proud of them & as a Monbebe I will never be embarrassed to say I stan them & will do it for a very long time❤

Right? and i was shocked when Monsta x got Global Artist award and people hating on them like they are not famous outside of korea. Like what? Most groups don't even have english album, world tour with 37 cities, america tour, global artists featuring and japanese album almost every year. And they were all successful & sold out. What's wrong with people...

Monsta X are far from flopping. They’ve been through a lot of hardships & continue to overcome & grow. Selling more records, charting better, & selling out arenas on tour. Their fanbase is even growing in SK. So this video is pretty inaccurate.

I don't know if you mean they gained popularity thanks to Ryan and Hugh but I'll just comment anyway 🙂 I'm following Stray Kids more than 3 years and I can easily say that Marvel fans do not care about kpop at all and Stray Kids' success and views are purely because of their album and performance success. Even before the Ryan interaction, Kingdom deadpool performance was getting lots of views because I remember how hyped we were back then, even Lisa fans when Lisa collabed with other group were watching skz performance because it caught everyone's attention. And the mention thing, It was a nice interaction so tweets got lots of attention from kpop fans but not marvel or dc fans. It is my opion though you can disagree ofc

I hate how you non Monsta X fan still thinks that Monsta X is still flopping in korea and now flopping in the US. Let me educate you, they recently had their US tour despite being delayed for years and no promo, also 70k Korean fans lined up for the first day of their concert on a venue with only 5k capacity. Every month they enter top 10 monthly bg rankings, even shownu is still a topic despite being in the military. Korean monbebes are top 1 (according to data) in terms of streaming like youtube. “Let’s hope that would change soon” and it really have been changing. Sure they’re not as popular as EXO, BTS, SVT but their sales are increasing, charting more, breaking new records, gaining more fans every comeback without sign of decline. I need you non fans to get your facts straight and updated.

I agree that Monsta X deserves even more popularity and success because they're so incredibly talented and they deserve every bit of recognition and love after everything they've gone through, but I'm really tired of the "Monsta X is flopping" narrative and like they barely have any fans anymore and that they should just disband when the people that claim that aren't even familiar with Monsta X and their achievements smh

They never flopped. Since their debut, they are always growing ;) but people can't pinpoint why they are not following the hype system that usually is the norm for kpop. Well, i would say one reason is because it's music first, for their aficionados, and bc their music is a niche, sort of (for kpop at least ; they have built their own identity and sound). They are stable, and growing always. Very proud of them! ^^

All of the groups are amazing! Talented period. I think international fans accept most of their songs, music and genre, so we keep supporting them nevertheless. Meanwhile, some korean fans are kinda picky with the concepts and type of music. If they love it they stan, if not bye bye. That’s what I see and observe in kpop. Kinda sad but that’s reality.

These days, they don't have to rack up numbers in Korean music shows. Don't worry. Plenty of love for DREAMCATCHER and ATEEZ around the world. As well as for all the other groups. The sad thing about the kpop model is that a group is practically a product. As soon as the company decided you are not profitable you are axed. Like American TV shows. Like RAISED BY WOLVES, a BRILLIANT SERIES cancelled because the network decided that another series is more profitable. Not that the cancelled one is not good. The members do not have a choice about carrying on for the sake of the fans, their music, or their dreams. Hopefully one day this will change.

Skz wasn’t very popular in Korea because JYP treated them like an experiment. They let chan pick his members and let them debut and said “alr go on fly into the world”. Even though they’re under a big 3 company, the members had gathered their audience themselves with chan talking in English in his vlives and such. Their growth was completely organic and then after kingdom that gathered like millions of fans. I’m happy they have a lot more recognition world wide now

@toastlover5552 жыл бұрын
@@OurSunshineLixie Well yeah I know that, ik they would’ve left if they didn’t like it but you can’t deny JYP treated them like they a random experiment in their first 2 years (probably cuz of their concept and cuz they were self producing). They already debuted so they couldn’t actually leave or anything they just had to try their hardest to promote themselves
@askara92342 жыл бұрын
@@toastlover555 I think maybe it was mutual agreement between jype and skz. Something like ' I'll give you a full creative freedom but in exchange I won't invest much in your promotion'. And I think the freedom skz got is much more valuable in the long run. But of course it's just my theory. Anyway I'm happy div1 finally started giving them proper promotion.
@quadling35212 жыл бұрын
JYP told 3Racha straight up that he was happy for them to be a group that might not be a group that appeal to everyone but was a few people’s absolute favourite group. I think he was probably tired with having groups that had to appeal to everyone and have GP hits in order for the company to stay afloat. Because that would put a strain on his relationship with the idols, all of whom he seems to really care about if you hear their stories of him reaching out to them and talking to them (it definitely seemed to put a strain on his relationship with GOT7 as he couldn’t let them do what they wanted in case it didn’t have mass appeal). But then the massive success of Twice (and 2pm’s big hit in 2015 and their explosion in Japan) allowed JYPE to have groups like Stray Kids, Xdinary Heroes and NMIXX to be a bit different and to be free from requiring mass appeal. But what KOOKIELIT doesn’t mention is also that a lot of the Stray Kids (at the beginning) did not fit Korean Beauty Standards (this has changed in more recent years with them growing up more and probably having surgery - and Hyunjin has always fit them). A lot of KNetz were calling them ugly at the time and dismissing them, so they lost attention at the first post.

So im conclusion, if the group is: From the Big 3, not much foreign members, good looking, boring overused cutesy/girl crush concept if girlgroup -> more popular in Korea Mostly from smaller company, probably more than two foreign members, more preference for talent than visual, unusual music concept for girlgroup -> more popular globally
@ahgavlive45172 жыл бұрын
Yeahh GOT7 truly is getting more recognition! ^^ Especially bc some members truly attract the korean audience just like Youngjae with his popular radio show, bambam with his appearance in the really successful and popular dating-show transit love 2, and Jinyoung with his successful acting roles in Yumi cells, Devils Judge, Reborn Rich and now Christmas carol!!🔥💚 Jayb is also doing great with his fanbase which also leads to them checking out GOT7~ GOT7 really had some moments where they gained a lot of korean fans With the releases of Hard Carry, Just Right, You Are, Look and bside-tracks like Page a lot of korean fans joined the fandom but like you said are they always changing their concepts which can also lead to a disadvantage!! But GOT7 has a solid fanbase in korea! They are maybe a bit small but they are as consistent as the international ones^^

Nothing against people thinking Ateez needs more kfans. That def helps in the award shows but an artist that can appeal to many types of people all over the world is amazing. Ateez is actually growing in Korea. They sold out multiple tour dates in Korea with a capacity of 11k each night. Ateez has the 0st Gravity from the #1 ranking drama Reborn Rich. Ateez has the 0st, Like That on the Korean adaptation of the hit webtoon Lookism and it's on Netflix. They also did the song Let's Get Together on the Mimicus 0st . They pulled off 2 arena tours in the same year.

Well, despite huge success overseas I’m sure having the support and acknowledgment of your country is a main priority for these artist. Yes, you can have great streaming #s and album sales but if you’re not charting on Korean platform you will never get the awards and will at some point disappear from the public spotlight. Int fans are great but Asia fans however are very loyal to 1 group and rarely multi.
@ICE_OnMyTeeth2 жыл бұрын
@@tea4099 Yes, they've said they would like their own country to appreciate them and to win awards in their own country. They've also said they aren't going to change their music etc, just to get them. They're going to do what they like . I already acknowledged that a bigger kfan base for Ateez would make winning awards easier however, the fact is they've won plenty of Korean awards and that is the majority Ifan effort. If we left kfans to do it, Ateez would have nothing because the numbers are not there to give them that support. They've been on k platforms. Itinys stream too. Bug passes are being bought for their 30 Dec release. Ateez would win and chart even more if more ifans streamed. Knetz are dedicated to artists from big Korean labels not small label groups like Ateez and then even more so, girl groups. Ateez have been doing what they always do yet knetz ignored them. Now we see more and more how they are talking about Ateez massive success outside and are praising them now. Ateez are def thankful for the kfans they have and I appreciate how we work together for Ateez and I know Ktinys are thankful because they know they can't pull the weight right now for Ateez.
